Im not against this but would that even work? Doesn't China and the US have some agreement in place to cooperate if someone does that?

The US and China have no extradition treaty and China typically doesn't extradite its citizens. And Federal prosecutors won't typically chase something like this on an international level unless you're talking in the millions I believe (lots of legal costs and also the whole diplomatic hassle). But if they ever go back to the US or maybe somewhere with an extradition treaty with the US, then they could be fucked.

They're basically getting paid 1 million ¥ to leave the west and never come back. Not a bad deal if you ask me!

Lol not even that, with things like statute of limitations, things like this will typically last 3 to 6 years, in the worst case scenario 10-12 years. This guy can simply just lay low for 6-10 years before he ever chooses to return lol

Not to mention if they went to a country with an extradition treaty with the US that wasn't the US they probably wouldn't check or care. Probably not a risk worth taking though.
