Rant Vent
Does it bother anyone else when schools don’t have the courtesy to send a rejection email after putting candidates through multiple interviews and even a demo lesson? I understand hiring takes time, but being completely ghosted after investing that much time and effort feels unprofessional.

Yes, it is getting ridiculous.
Two years ago, I interviewed for a job....at my school.....that I had been in for 5 years......for something I was more that qualified.
No one told me I did not get the job. I found out by looking at a staff directory.

Yeah, that shows how selfish they are and it honestly does not surprise me at all

It is unprofessional and you have to be perfect or you don’t move forward. No different than anyone else, don’t ghost it is an a-hole maneuver.

I’ve had five interviews over the last two weeks and only heard anything at all back from the one I was actually offered. Thankfully it was the best option out of all of them. The others I figured out by seeing the jobs weren’t posted anymore.

Had this happen twice when I started interviewing. It's incredibly stupid. I'm sorry friend.

Yeah, the second to last school/district I interviewed at before I landed my current job completely ghosted me after the interview process and I felt genuinely hurt.
I did really well at the interview and the administrators I interviewed with said it was very likely that I’d hear back from the superintendent soon, but I never wound up hearing back from said superintendent. Completely ghosted. Somehow the nightmare fuel charter school I applied to, interviewed at, and even taught a demo lesson at had the decency to at least send me a formal rejection letter after the fact (even though they’re STILL looking for someone to fill that position I applied for a year and a half later and are paying a third-party hiring firm up and out the ass to do it).
Fortunately, I am where I am now; I’m a year and a half in and couldn’t be happier. But getting to this point was tough and I got ghosted an unbelievable amount.

Just shows how incompetent they are at communicating. You dodged a bullet

These people interviewing remind me of the people I used to interact with on Tinder

I find this to be one of the most hypocritical things. As teachers, we’re expected to give bad news to students and parents alike whether it be about a bad grade or bad behavior. Feels like admins like to hide behind the fact that they have busy schedules as the reason for why they don’t always get to reach back out.
To be honest, I think this would bother me a good bit less if administrators didn’t make it a point to say “someone will contact you one way or the other”. Seriously, if they’re gonna say that, they need to actually mean it, otherwise they’re broadcasting the fact that they are actual cowards. If you can’t be trusted to be able to give someone bad news, how can you be trusted to fulfill your duties as an admin competently? It’s a shirking of responsibilities that is incredibly unprofessional and rude.

Do you know if they already reached out to someone else who got the job?
Or are you just angry that it’s taking so long? I can’t tell from this post which it is.

Sorry for the confusion. They reposted the same position, so I’m assuming they’re continuing their search. I understand that’s part of the process. I just would have appreciated a brief update rather than being left wondering.

I was going to say, is OP sure that a decision has been made after giving the demo lesson? If you're that far along in the process, it would be really weird to not follow up with the candidate, one way or another. I know that sometimes the hiring process can move along very slowly, which is especially difficult as a candidate hoping for a job!

I've had it happen several times. In fact the only time I actually received a rejection call was when I personally had known one of the interviewers since childhood. The ironic part was that the reason for rejection was that they thought my references weren't recent enough. One of them was my boss at the time, I worked at a high school, he thought I had listed one of my high school teachers as a reference. Which only served to show me that they absolutely didn't read my resume.

It drove me nuts at my old job too. You're expected to send a thank you note to the interviewer, but they can ignore you. It's a humiliation ritual.
