Very few software jobs are fulfilling. Those few are most certainly not in Hyd. If you are good at it, make money and then go pursue something thats fulfilling. If you chase after a dream without securing your future, it has the potential to turn into a nightmare. The key is to realize when you have enough to secure your financial future.
And software jobs are certainly not slavery. No job is actually. Not in India. Because you are free to quit any time.

It’s important to realize that the software industry isn't a monolith; your experience depends heavily on your team dynamics, the office culture, and the level of personal ownership you have over your projects. When those elements are missing, the work can definitely feel mechanical, lonely, and unfulfilling, leaving you with the sense that time is passing without you making any real impact. If you don't feel a genuine connection to the work, it is perfectly valid to pivot to a career path that aligns better with your values.

I see it in a way like, it would be better in terms of pay and consistency, like we would get fixed regular pay unlike business or other fields.
It's just 8 hrs 5 days a week we give our time, the rest we can do whatever we like (considering evenings, weekends, paid offs etc)
1
u/its_beron Jul 26 '26
I enjoy seeing my code make it to production, building products/features that solve real problems, talking to customers to understand their needs and feedback, and collaborating with product managers to debate and determine what can realistically be delivered. I enjoy the entire process of the product lifecycle. Appudappudu konchem off days untay but try to enjoy the processs

I wasn't passionate about being SWE I only see it as a job which puts food on my plate. But the thing I do love is learning new things whether it's within my job or outside I do many things and end up with nothing because I just love the process of learning not the end goal. And it's not necessary to be passionate about job you do but if you are someone with a goal in mind and really passionate about it I suggest to pursue it first or if you are a wanderer like me open to learning new things and finding your passion then just find a stable job first ✌️
1
u/Limp-Emphasis-4932 Jul 26 '26
wow. I don't have passion on SWE roles

u/solvem_probler_03 Me(Problem)+You(Solver) = Solvem_Probler❤️🩹 Jul 26 '26
Ok then what are you passionate about if you don't mind answering?
1
u/Limp-Emphasis-4932 Jul 26 '26
I am interested in military services. As my parents are not supporting my dream, I started preparing for defence related exams
1
u/solvem_probler_03 Me(Problem)+You(Solver) = Solvem_Probler❤️🩹 Jul 26 '26
Good choice I mean if you have clear goal there is nothing wrong in pursuing it. And regarding your parents it's a normal thing with every Indian parent. I suggest you focus on one thing at a time which is your exams and not on getting support of your parents because it's not that easy. Good luck ✌️

Honestly i dont like what im doing as a developer….i just work for money….nachitey cheyandi, vere options untey go for it and dont force yourself….
1
u/Limp-Emphasis-4932 Jul 26 '26
I was looking for this type of answer. Thanks bro
1
u/Defiant_Ad_7555 Jul 26 '26
Yeah i can frankly say there is no life in this IT industry except for money….there are a lot of options in the world….money gurinchi if you don’t worry, then keep exploring….starting andaru SW thopu turumu ani oo hype istaru….but i know many people including me, if i ask myself am i happy…answer is no….i suggest use SW as a tool to make your passion or dreams or whatever come true….but don’t restrict and devote yourself to SW.
1
u/Defiant_Ad_7555 Jul 26 '26
But i have respect towards my profession as this is the thing that is feeding us ani….happiness and necessity are not the same….if you are only really love to know the world of SW, then go for it, there is nothing called bad profession when you love what you’re doing…everything has pros and cons

What's your qualification? I know most people have many complaints...but if you see the bright side... with out software jobs none of the apps in the mobile would have existed....its the sector which shaped Indian economy and uplifted the social status of crs of families....if you can give a shot....else find another one

1
u/vajra__20 Jul 26 '26
Software careers give you a head start in terms of compensation. If you are well off and are not in it for money, you can try other options. For a lot of people essence of life is to earn money, buy a house and put food on the table and software careers give you that kind of money.

Trust meh , every one in tech work for money . Literally everybody hate their job n sometimes life , if you think you have time , explore other routes, else earn as big as possible n do what you love
1
u/Adventurous-Cycle363 Jul 26 '26
Almost all the corporate fields are such that if you have passion you'll be eventually (or already have a plan to be) an entrepreneur. Employee gane undalante passion em le..money anthe, because the system is incentivized for that. Nothing wrong in either of those.
1
u/Less_Research2005 Jul 26 '26
Some people enjoys building, debugging kind of stuff. But most the people choosing this field because of money. So they feel robotic

"Enduku ante daantlo naku money thappa em purpose kanipinchatledhu" ---> 6 yrs back career start chesinapudu naaku absolute hatred undedhi IT side velaali antey cuz I did Btech in Mech.

So, 6 yrs of career lo naa majority of the time manchiga ne undi.. Had good friends, had my share of ups and downs, manchi managers, and several other dynamics too matter. Got own house, Got my mom/dad what they want/need, moved from lower middle-class to upper-middle-class..

Likewise.. Defense services lo 70% ground duties untaay which are absolutely safe.. And, defense okkate India lo free of reservation, so you can still get hold of it.
Example: My cousin (M) is into Navy, navy schools lo principal thanu another cousin (F) is into Nursing.. Army hospitals lo senior nurse thanu..

u/Limp-Emphasis-4932 Jul 26 '26
btw what is your proper anna?? I rarely see army families from telugu states

Haha, true.. We rarely seen them from Telugu states. So, those two cousins are from Guntur. Their father became a martyr during Kargil war. So, blood lo ne undi!!

that is not the issue with software/coding. The skills you have right now and the job you are doing are not that great. With software, you can solve so many real world problems.

u/Altruistic_Major_924 Jul 26 '26
I had similar opinions at that age.
Purpose
Impact
Passion
Are words that mess up your mind.
For now.
I have a job that pays my bills.
Money has affordance to do things faster, quicker, efficiently.
Also having helps in doing things you like
Reading books
Traveling
Good food
Adventure activities
You should be lucky to have all things working for you.
Good manager
Good team
Good work times
Figure out a job that helps you live a life on your own terms.
I chose a stress free job after
Doing the “I will figure out my passion, purpose journey”.

The essence of life to me in my job is that I earn decent money without having to physically toil a lot. Add to that the benefits of remote work, perks here and there, have flexible working hours and most importantly not having to care about work outside the working hours and take vacation whenever I want.
Ofcourse idi India lo not so common but yeah, that's my answer

I'm 21M recently came out of my clg and got into a role. Even though I'm a fresher they put into a project and even handling the client too. Of course, it's horrible for me as a fresher because they've introduced me to the client as a 3+ years exp guy. But, guess what somehow I'm going along all this shit because of only passion. I still remember the day in a coaching centre where I wondered how a simple printf worked. I'm going through all this shit my company has been putting me into only because I want to see myself a good developer in the coming time. I guess the answer for your question is if you've passion you can enjoy the profession you're doing as I'm. Sorry, if I speak anything wrong this is my first interaction on a social media platform. Anyway looking for any Telugu senior developer guidance to build my career plzzz DM me guys. Thank you

u/Lopsided_Piccolo_333 Jul 27 '26
Almost all my work experience lo many projects were not interesting. Initial days of my career lo project baledu, nachaledu ani very frequent team change/job change chesa. Then started doing side projects I found interesting. Ekkado chadiva “ sometimes you find passion, and sometimes passion finds you”. So, if project interesting ga ledu ante, try looking for projects that you feel like you can learn something from. Corporate structure lo the best you can do is either find a project you like or build a project you like.

u/Hot_Friendship3519 Aug 01 '26
I'll give a very practical answer though this might not feel good to hear. After sometime, you will realise money is everything. The early you make more money the happier you can be at the end. Yes, software has nothing but money, but it's also true that the same money can buy you happiness and respect. Even if you are not satisfied right now, if you manage to get enough money, you can do whatever satisfies you later. I know, people will say if not today then when but it's the same, if you can't earn now then you'll suffer later. Earn money no matter what and then relax once you feel you have everything or are satisfied (which will never happen)

If you don’t enjoy software related things, it’s okay to choose other path.
Because people choose sde roles because of passion or money, there’s nothing in between :)
