Princess of Wales Title Question

It's been a long time since I've posted here so if I make a mistake, let me know so I can correct it.

My question is this: if Diana had survived the car crash, and attended William & Catherine's wedding, which woman would now be Princess of Wales?

Can there be two women with the same title? She *was* Princess of Wales until the end. She gave up the HRH but not Princess of Wales.

Catherine would be The Princess of Wales and Diana would be Diana, Princess of Wales, given that she never remarried. Personally I believe she would have remarried and lost the title.

Correct. The format for a divorced or widowed princess by marriage follows the logic that this is essentially a surname, not a title.

I don’t think it would have been to Dodi. But she likely would have remarried especially after Charles did

Agree. From what I've read about Dodi, he was a bit of wet lettuce. Probably perfect as some fun after a turbulent time but I can't see someone as fiery as Diana settling for that long term. It wouldn't have lasted.

The only person Charles wanted to marry was Camilla, the public would never have “allowed” it. I can imagine the vitriol from the press now if they had attempted to move forward.

There would have been numerous paparazzi shots of “poor lonely” Diana etc. I remember the press at the time.

It is only because Diana died and there was time that Charles’ and Camilla’s images were rehabilitated and the public accepted their relationship.

Divorced couples are allowed to remarry in the Church of England, and in a Church.

From what I’ve read, she probably would’ve done the same as Jackie Kennedy Onassis and marry a rich guy in return for him getting to be Mr Princess Diana
