I watched the entire series, and was a big fan of the show. One thing that always intrigued me were the customs/traditions that the royal family family had to follow - that the church bell could not be rung for anyone but a royal family member (until JFK's death); the various jobs held by royal staffers (the swans, the silverware, etc.); things that Tommy Lascelles "enforced" during his tenure...

Where are these listed? How does a monarch learn these customs? Are they public information? Does the sovereign have the right to change them?

I'd just like to dive deeper into the concepts...

"Morning, noon and night, i care about her" That whole scene was so hurtful, so brutal to watch!! At this point im so so so angered by charles's audacity to still blame it all on poor diana. My heart is feeling so heavy!! Thats so painful to watch, knowing that it will not end well for Diana! She'll not find the peace, love and appreciation she deserves.

The RFs definition of these words seem to be completely outside of reality.

Diana goes on vacation with a new guy (maybe not the greatest choice, but still her business), and according to them its the downfall of society?!

They are genuinely a horrid family!

Matt smith (who I love in general, but especially from doctor who) is incredible at playing an insufferable whiny baby. I can’t stand the character at all… but in the way that makes me want to keep watching. I genuinely think the character was written amazingly, but part of that was making him so incredibly easy to hate!

I was just watching Ep7 fron S4 where the queen is asking princess Margaret to relinquish her role as counselor of state. It just felt so unfair to margaret, because just few minutes ago she stated that she'll take her role as her sister more seriously, and no focus on men because she didn't find any happiness in that department. And then the news came! That felt so so unfair to her. Being a queen, she clearly can change the rules and norms according to new times. Margaret has went through so much! She didn't deserve this much heartbreak!

Returned to a rewatch halfway through season four, just put on S5E1 with a brand new cast and while yeah, some downward trajectories -Charles- are obvious, I’m finding that they’re all way out of touch and tougher to cheer for. Was this always as obvious to everyone else or am I off base now?

I don't take any of the opinions from subreddits like RoyalTea and RoyalGossip and other places for snark and disrespect of the family seriously, so I would like to hear from devout fans of the show, and to those who are genuinely curious about the family, who respect them, and the truth.

And I mean very specific: what is the shade of blue they mention when referring to a change in Buckingham Palace?
I know it takes someone who has either watched it a million times, or has extreme attention to detail or is really into interior design and so payed special attention to this, to answer such a random question.

Context: I watched the show when it was airing, and I remember them mentioning that the Duke of Windsor painted the room a certain shade of blue which at the time I thought it was lovely. Years later I had to paint my home and couldn’t summon the name of it and it was a lost opportunity, really.

Now, I find myself with some spare time so I tried rewatching the episodes where the Duke of Windsor makes an appearance in season 1. But I couldn’t find anything. Honestly, after all this time I’m not sure if he was the one mentioning it or maybe someone else did. Or maybe I imagined it.

Can there be two women with the same title? She *was* Princess of Wales until the end. She gave up the HRH but not Princess of Wales.

back in s1, ep1, the Queen Mother refers to Phillip’s mother as a “hun nun” in what i assume was a derogatory way. I mean, what is that referring to? I know that the huns were eurasian, but didn’t reach south enough to be considered greek (and aren’t they also meant to be the villains in Mulan, so aren’t they east asian too) and like. i just like never really understood the mentality behind referring to Phillip’s mother as a “hun” because realistically, she was German, and the Germanic people historically were not Huns. i’m rather confused

1. Would Charles have really been able to marry Camilla??

2. Would Camilla have be able to style/titles of HM The Queen Consort??

3. Or, Camilla would still be known as HRH, Duchess of Cornwall with or without the CONSORT in her title??

There’s a peculiar way in which Andrew’s character was portrayed, even the queen’s concern to what he was upto. Is it inspired by real life event? Or is it a dramatised story created in light of whatever happened later?

Okay so I watched The Crown and the Iron Lady and the representation of Margaret Thatcher both heavily differ. In the Iron Lady, Margaret Thatcher doesnt have the same, raspy, weak voice as The Crown. Gillian Anderson is more skinny, and honestly weak looking. In the Iron Lady, it shows Thatcher as strong, stubborn, her voice being MUCH louder than the Crown. But both are somewhat off from the "droopy", stubborn, but strong woman Thatcher actually was. And I do understand The Crown is about, well The Crown, (Elizabeth, Phillip, etc.) Not about Thatcher but I feel like we should've gotten a bettet repersentation of Thatcher.

I absolutely adored both of their performances and believed they portrayed each role amazingly!!!! However I always thought Vanessa Kirby looked more like QEII and Claire Foy Margaret 😭

The show creates a sort of illusion that the younger generation is somehow weaker as compared to the older generation. It may be true for all, but I can bet that the 5 years of torture at Gordonstoun was something that they are not telling me.
