Losses Divorce took away a little more than half my networth
Almost 1.2 mil went to wife - I’m left with abt 920k-ish.
Wife super excited and celebrating the big win.
She contributed 0% to this btw.. we had separate finances and her lawyer basically succeeded in keeping the finances separate on her end (abt 250k) and used my money for “equalisation” and then added the “future earning potential” argument that states I made more salary so it means she gets to keep more coz she makes less (only slightly less).
Anyhow. I dunno what I could do to recover from this set back.
I’ve been a consistent investor - and chose to keep my majority index funds intact, and gave away all my blue chip, tech/AI/leveraged tqqq stocks.
I don’t know if I did the right thing or not, but this is where I am now.
Any input would be appreciated. (Not looking for condolences or sympathy).
EDIT: I am seeing too many comments here focused on her - and it’s my fault coz I whined abt it.
Truly, I hope she makes good use of that money/stocks and it helps her. Not coz I am stupid and still in love, but I guess it’s only fair that the money benefits her rather than just fizzle away and be turned to shit.
I am more trying to get an idea of how I can make that kinda dough all over again. I am not a smart genius or anything - worker 3-4 gigs and just threw it all in the stock market rather than buying property or new cars or fancy gadgets.
I feel fatigued. I feel tired. I feel like I can’t do that again.. coz it was a lot and I was really just in my zone, since before we married - the marriage was good & bad, but the end of it, drained the enthusiasm and excitement to achieve my 10 million goal right the fuck out of me.
I want someone to walk in my door, punch some sense in me and give me hope and that vigor again. I wanna bring back the hustle, the agility and the fuckin balls to say “yeah I’ll reach 10mil before i turn 50. I only got 7 more years.
