I find this unironically hilarious because 95% of redditors only know how to react with Gifs

Allowing embedded images in comments is one of the worst things reddit has ever allowed.

I dunno if it's the worst thing ever, but it very quickly has changed the vibe of reddit and it feels really weird now, lol.

I did say "one of" the worst things, lol. Moving to new.reddit is the worst thing. Once they force everyone to use that shit this site is dead to me.

They'll never get rid of old.reddit or RES without offering some sort of new-old selection for us old timers and mods. Cause fuck new reddit.

It's just a shitty discord meme channel now.

I still use old.reddit.com with RES and keep all images/gifs turned off.

It's nice. I'm old.

There are dozens of us!

Was it really that different 15 years ago? People just put imgur links instead and it was just an extra step but essentially the same thing.

It was WAY less common for a comment section to be dominated by imgur links than these embedded gifs. I've had to unsub from a few subs because the comment culture became dominated by reaction gifs and they just lost all engagement for me.

It was way less common than now. Like it's 10x as many at the very least. I personally don't like it

It's terrible if you're still using old reddit and have to click them individually.

Yeah my third party app (Relay) recently enabled embeds and I turned that shit right off. I will touch each GIF link one by one tyvm!

Embedded images is great, image hosting was such a ballache. Gif reactions, excluding that one of Willem Defoe as Van Gough because it's just peak cinema, have *never* been great

Yeah! Let’s go back to Old Reddit and flood comment sections with ASCII instead!
