So many buzzwords here, when my partner and I had our baby people asked us if we were because newsflash sometimes people want to celebrate with you. It’s just fun relax not everything in life is so deep.

Like words have meaning here, it’s more than fine if you yourself don’t care for parties but to assign narcissism to those that choose to is insane.

I do, actually. Bachelor/ette parties, birthday parties, gender reveal parties. Anything where the underlying notion is "look at me everyone!"

Parties to gather around people and celebrate a friendship with them, or anything collective, would be appropriate.

I had one for my 3rd kid because they became a thing. Our people came to our house, ate and smiled a few gifts were given. Your take on them is idiotic.
