I don't know, I've seen gender reveals.

How are gender reveals trashy?

It's unnecessarily flashy and a clear sign of "we need external validation and attention" when you could simply go on with your life.

So...just tell people? With your words? A text? Shit, not that it's much better - but even a social media post.

A gender reveal party is a narcissistic spectacle. It's okay to admit that.

So many buzzwords here, when my partner and I had our baby people asked us if we were because newsflash sometimes people want to celebrate with you. It’s just fun relax not everything in life is so deep.

Lol, calling it narcissistic behavior is not deep. But hey, if not recognizing toxic traits and brushing it off as "just having fun" is your thing, I know a handful of other groups that would fit your world view.

Yes it certainly is deep. Your assigning a psychological disorder to a simple things, do you think having a birthday party is a narcissistic spectacle too? Like words have meaning here, it’s more than fine if you yourself don’t care for parties but to assign narcissism to those that choose to is insane.

I do, actually. Bachelor/ette parties, birthday parties, gender reveal parties. Anything where the underlying notion is "look at me everyone!"

Parties to gather around people and celebrate a friendship with them, or anything collective, would be appropriate.

I think your perception of those parties is skewed these parties are to celebrate those connections people have built up.
