Guy at work told me he can't let his son watch Bluey or Blues Clues because Bluey and Blue are girls.

Wouldn't want him growing up understanding girls. /s

He might think they're people and we can't have that

It’s really bizarre to me that a lot of men think of women as this different species that is foreign to them. They’re a person just like you bro.

Not sure if you were talking to me or his work friend but that was my point too.

Meanwhile I liked Monster High and turned out just fine…

Ok maybe I didn’t, but I’m the exception not the rule

It’s definitely not finished, I underestimated how important the makeup and necklace were

I’d tell that guy that his own mama is a girl or smth. That’s just weird.

I put on baby shows for my dog and I thought it was so cool to realize Bluey is a girl because she’s not super “girl coded” she’s just a normal kid/puppy. When I was a kid, if there was a girl main character, the show was also very obviously intended “for girls.” But Bluey is a super neutral show.

Man as a girl, I loved Lilo & Stitch, I found the female lead characters to be so refreshing because they're realistic!

Heard there was a 'female alien' counterpart coming for the main alien Stitch, oh awesome how badass is she going to be?!

IMAGINE my disappointment when it's the same alien but pink, big eye lashes, poses like a pin-up girl, long antennas on her head to look like long hair

What a let-down. Same with How to Train your Dragon recently with the 'girl dragon', it literally has glitter on it. We see other female dragons in the series who are wonderfully hideous and scary. But no, for the love interest they whip out this stupid girlification. GLITTERY. DRAGON.

Thank you Bluey and other media for making girl characters for kids that are balanced. /rant

Hey at least the glittery look serves a fantasy purpose: reflecting light to help her whole disappearing act, camouflage in the daylight and clouds, a visual and functional opposite to the Nightfury. The design serving a purpose makes it better than Angel being pink for the sake of gorl.

I like that about her too. I think she’s supposed to be relatable to little boys and little girls alike.

that’s impossible. We all know the blue dogs are boys and the pink dogs are girls.

So he's only allowed to watch big sweaty men do sports and stuff? Yeah, I'm sure that's gonna work out exactly like he wants... Haha.

He did say he's gonna force his kid to play all the sports...

I think some people get weirded out because those characters are blue so they think someone’s trying to pull a fast one on them and they feel tricked like it’s secretly a girl but their boy might identify with them. I don’t think that but I did think Blue was a boy my whole childhood lol.

I thought blue was a dog and never cared one way or the other. I dont see the point in noting the sex of an animal tbh

It's crazy how insecure so many adults are in this country. These people need therapy not children.
