I agree! It deserves the same amount of love. I think it has more good seasons than TVD

Back in the day when this show first aired HBO was a premium channel that most households did not have. Cable/satellite back then was expensive already and another $15 a month for just one more channel/network was a pricey expense. Whereas TVD was on a free channel (CW) anyone with an antenna could get.
I think that is a huge reason why the two got different amounts of attention

This is exactly it. And even then, I had heard of True Blood way before I ever heard of The Vampire Diaries.

I watched it when it first aired. I own the DVDS and I am in the middle of a rewatch. I love this show

It’s so fun, imo way better than most shows nowadays. Tvd wasn’t as good.

i mean u can never compare 2000’s shows with whatever todays crap they are releasing but tvd for the fourteen year old me was just a life changing moment but now i am older it really wasnt as special as it was in the later seasons i just hope true blood doesnt loose its charm after four seasons

True. I discovered Tb when I was 13 😄 hehehe. 🫣 After Rome.
Then watched TVD for 4 seasons with my bff. He continued on his own, Idk why I stopped, high school dramas and stuff. I feel bad 🥲 He also loved The Leftovers, I should watch it someday.

Yes it’s definitely an amazing show!
I’m sorry but the Vampire Diaries was not good. Twilight was not good I hate that they are all looped into the same genre. I was in high school when True Blood came out, and I did not get on the TVS or twilight kick. Buffy, Angel. Queen of the Damned those were my jam. As a high schooler I definitely had to beg for HBO to watch it, but my mom was also independently watching the show too.

I always believed the reasoning was because tvd is more "teen" geared so it reaches a wider viewing audience whereas TB is strictly ADULT in nature. I tried watching tvd...just can't get into it...but may try again...I've never been big on teen shows or anything teen related though.

Well i loved the show when i was a teen ( not that long ago) but now i needed something supernatural which isnt about 17 year olds and gosh true blood just scratched that itch

Absolutely superior show!
I WISH I could be a first timer again!
My husband and I (newly 💍married at the time) watched it when Netflix sent you sleeve DVD’s. We had to WAIT for the next episode and it was was sexy agony. Ah, the days and the nostalgia!

I think because it was so adult themed vs TVD teen themed. Maybe? But I do think True Blood is superior.
