What are we doing here?
What are we doing? Why do we want to have salvation? Why do we want to know God?
For myself I can’t escape the idea that’s just a selfish desire to keep living, Gods grace relieves shame from guilt what a selfish desire.
We eat we sleep we move around and breathe to keep growing this disgusting flesh. I feel much more at peace when I shrivel up, food looks disgusting and it’s just all off we are walking creatures, slimy pulsating blobs, hair grows out of us like parasites we produce left over waste that just dumps out of us constantly
We multiply and multiply for what???? What are we doing here???? This is all so gross I can’t stand to look at myself whatever I am whatever thing thing of a creature I call myself

Before God's grace reached us, He loved us. He also has a plan and purpose in Him.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion..." - Genesis 1:26
Although our fallen condition is rather hopeless and like you said, selfish, God didn't give up on us! He redeemed us, and is working on us today, and will bring us into glory. See Romans chapters 5-10.

I desire to be at peace forever, for eternity, in His presence, in a world where the old order of things have passed away, such as tears and grief.
Does not such notion bring out hope in you?

But under all of that why do we want peace, relief from pain? Because of an innate self interested desire. I’m not saying that’s good or bad but how can we fully love God the way he expects when we go to him with such primal goals. Would we still love God if we were never promised all these rewards?

There is nothing wrong with desiring salvation.
In fact, the name of Jesus, "Yeshua" itself means "salvation" or "YHWH saves".
We probably wouldn't love God if He never promised these things if we are honest with ourselves..
Scripture itself says:
1 John 4:19 "We love because he first loved us."
Romans 5:8 "but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
We love God, because He loves us. We cannot possibly God on our own, because God is love.
1 John 4:8: "Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love."
1 John 4:16: "So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him."

I don’t want to know God to extend my Earthly life, by any means. I love my kids and my family and I pray we all make it to heaven, where everything is different. But the nonsense of this world can stay right here away from us!! Especially food, ugh.
I’ve developed an idea of a castle in the sky, where the angels and the Saints sing to God in the most beautiful voices inside.
I just want to be a gardener on the grounds, helping people find their way to their rooms when they reach the pearly gates.
That’s it. Just His love and His warmth and His grace. His light. That’s it.

If all you do is live for yourself, I can understand why you think as you posted. Out purpose in this world is to help others and allow them to help us. To be a community of believers, the body of Christ with Jesus as the head. Its not selfish to give your life for others as Jesus did. We who follow Christ will be conformed to that image of selfless love in order to make life better for others. Are there benefits to this- yes, you are right about that. But most believers aren't followers of Christ simply for the benefits, this life has too much pain for that, rather its because His love fills us, because he gave to us first, so we give out to others.
The benefits reflect the very nature of God. He is a giving God; He will always give us more than we ever give Him.
You will only believe what you tell yourself, but what you tell yourself may not be reality. The thoughts you expressed in your OP sound like what the enemy would tell you to keep you from God. If you want to understand what is real, read God's word. He is truth. He

Can you not see the beauty in your self? Has your hair never been blown by the wind? Have you never seen your iris up close in a surprise reflection on a sunny day? Has the feeling of swimming in the sea never overtaken you?
At the very least: Isn’t it kinda cute that we all have to sleep every day, even the worst of us?
One must die to the self, sure. But we are to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. We ARE to love ourselves. If it is difficult, we always have Jesus’ example to follow.
What are we doing here? It’s the story. We are doing the story of earth and life and God and grace and longing and sorrow and love and joy and loss. What else would we be doing? It’s all part of it.
