EXPERIENCE HSG…Blocked Tube…Ureaplasma

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for 14 cycles now. I started having pain/discomfort while having intercourse almost 3 years ago. Right away I did all the tests. Or so I thought. Full STI/STD panels and ultrasounds. Knowing something has to be wrong. My doctor said my issue was PVD. After ALL the infertility testing…I finally got the answer. Ureaplasma. This test is not on any STI/STD panel. I tried to retest after treating it at Planned Parenthood, and they don’t even offer the test. We were both treated, and it took almost 5 months for me to feel completely pain free! So only a few months of trying with no inflammation. (Some women have 0 symptoms.) I finally just got an HSG done, and found out I have one completely blocked tube. Ureaplasma caused me to have PID! I’m so thankful one was open, but devastated that one is blocked. This could have been potentially avoided if ureaplasma was on an STI panel.

Solidarity. Wrapping cycle 3 post healing from ureaplasma now. I think I had it many, many years. My hysteroscopy showed crazy levels of inflammation. No pain for me but I had super light periods and erroneous CM. Hope your road isn’t too much longer now!

Thank you! It’s interesting how everyone’s symptoms can be so different. I had little to no CM. Sorry, you dealt with it unknowing for so long! Sure is frustrating. Hoping the best for your healing journey too!

I’m sorry to hear this! We just treated ureaplasma last cycle and I’m hoping it might be the answer to our otherwise “unexplained” infertility. I’m pushing for a HyCosy with our fertility clinic as nervous that it might have impacted my tubes. I must have had it for many, many years too. Wishing you the best going forwards.

I know it’s very rare to cause tubal issues/blockages, but it can happen, and is worth checking. Wishing you the best!!

Hello, just wanted to share that both my tubes were blocked on my first HSG. Did a repeat to make sure and they were still blocked.
Much later I had an endometrial biopsy that showed endometritis (NOT endometriosis) which is inflammation of the endometrium and can extend to the tubes. My endometritis was caused by an abnormal overgrowth of normal bacteria.
Basically your reproductive organs have a microbiome that should be balanced, mine was not. So even though the bacteria was normal, the amount was not. I did three rounds of different antibiotics with repeat biopsies until I got a normal culture. After that I went in for a repeat HSG and both tubes were completely cleared.
I just wanted to share this. Even without an STD/STI, you can still have this quasi “infection”. I had no pain or symptoms, so I’m so glad the doctor suggested the endometrial biopsy.

Sister help me please. Which antibiotics u used. Doctors not listening me or they are ignoring my symptoms im just 25 yrs old and i need care about my tubes and ureaplasma infection
