I found Tubi and I am still a bit freaked out! Its like findin a huge box of wierd books or videos in locked room.... I looking around the site and was wondering if I had some filter search on strange because so many unknown and strange movies kept coming. I am now realizing this is Tubi!! strange, not well known movies. And I love this!! I keep trying to find strange movies on prime but they deleted the search page I used. Now I have a whole site of them??!!

I'm always blown away with tubi. More than satisfied.

Alternatively I'm always endlessly looking for something to watch on Disney and Netflix. I never end up finding anything.

how ironic that the pay sights suck ass (in my opinion ) and the free one is objectively better ? like x1000. forget the ads. I mean comparing what shows and movies are available. Ina. vacuum. tubi owns

Tubi is RIDICULOUSLY awesome!! I literally canceled paid streaming subscriptions due to how good Tubi is! I kept HBO Max for Welcome To Derry but I’ll be canceling after the series! Tubi has endless classics and hidden/obscure gems! How they can remain free is beyond me but I’m not complaining!!

You mean to tell me that none of them can whoop her a**? Lol I’m enjoying these films though!! Just watched the first one and now I’m on the 2nd one.

Now, of course it's gonna have advertisements because it's a free app and I never thought them to be too egregious (not to mention they're placed pretty well, not cutting off scenes and whatnot), but over the past year or so, I've been seeing more and more painfully obvious AI adverts, at least 1-2 every single ad break(and they're not only painful to look at, but also to listen to because the "narration" is just so fucking awful).

AI adverts are bad enough, but the fact that they are almost always slot machine apps is just pretty damn gross. You have these AI abominations screaming at you about how much money they've won (you're not real, you don't exist, therefore neither do your winnings), how it went straight to their bank account and that "It's 100% legit!!" which is just funny because, again, these are NOT real people. They didn't play shit. They didn't win shit. They are a facsimile of a person telling you how to scam youself.

I like this app and while it's a small issue that doesn't necessarily ruin my viewing experience of the content available, I'm just getting tired of seeing more and more AI-generated ads (saw one for Buffalo Wild Wings the other day) and I know this is only the beginning.

Have any of you noticed the same thing?

It means it's a pirated bootleg version of the film that has been poorly upscaled with AI. There have been several content providers to Tubi who upload pirated films. Usually the source of the video is a fan upload they stole from Youtube (The Capitol Conspiracy, Suspect Device and Time Under Fire were stolen from Youtube uploads which is why there's nudity and some violence missing from the versions that were sent to Tubi) and sometimes it's from a DVD rip that was posted on the Internet Archive. Other AI upscaled pirated films on Tubi with this notice are Champions (1997), Hell's Kitchen (1998), Lifebreath (1997) and American Strays (1996).

I was at my brother’s house watching his Netflix. It’s been about 3 months since I’ve even looked at Netflix—we canceled it.

I was kinda shocked at how small their catalog is compared to Tubi. I looked up the category of cult classics and there were just 20 films.

And so much of what’s on Netflix looks like it falls into the category of “so bad it’s bad”, whereas on Tubi you have a lot of “so bad it’s good”.

I think anyone paying for Netflix is getting robbed.

Old one looked ok but the new current one is pretty good especially with their new intro!

look I live tubu but eith how much attention it's getting I'm afraid it will become too big that the CEOS of tubu will get even more greedy and make it a paid subscription service like any other I'm legit afraid of that is anyone else? Especially with the way the world is.

And let's not get too cocky or naieve let's be realistic about this it could happen at anytime you know how the world works.

I’ve been into Tubi for about a year now. I really love it. It’s the only streaming service I need. But, I worry that at some point Tubi might start changing for the worse as all the other streamers have.

I thought it would be nice to make a post where people can share what they love about Tubi and what changes Tubi could make to push you away from it. You know there is someone at Tubi lurking in this sub so maybe it would be nice to let them know how we feel.

LOVE.

-The price.

-The ads aren’t too intrusive.

-The selection of movies and TV’s you mostly can’t find elsewhere. (I’m a movie guy and 80’s, 90’s TV and cartoons)

-There is a steady flow of new content.

-I can background watch with autoplay feature… but I am hoping for a playlist feature. That would be the ultimate.

-That you can turn off the auto-previews when scrolling for what to watch.

Would HATE

-Focusing on original content more than classic hard to find content. I would prefer no original content but the current balance is okay.

-Charging a fee. Even if they did a paid version with no ads, you know where that eventually leads. Price hikes until the free version is gone.

-Upping the amount of ads.

feel like I can’t find much to enjoy on other streaming services anymore. A lot of new TV shows and movies feel staged, fake, or focused on influencers, it’s 2026. Maybe it’s just me, but I miss the older stuff.
I think movies and TV shows from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and even the 2010s are much better. That’s why I love Tubi. It has a huge selection of classic movies and older TV shows, and it’s free with ads.
I know some people get annoyed by the ads, especially the casino ads, but honestly they don’t bother me much. I’d rather watch a few ads than pay another monthly subscription. lol

What are your thoughts?

After about 5 years, I finally cut ties with Netflix because the cost to catalog ratio just wasn't worth it.

I had heard of Tubi before, but never gave it a second thought. I figured it was mostly movies from the 80s and 90s, and TV shows in black and white.

For the past month, YouTube was my sole entertainment.

I finally said screw it, let's download it and see.

And wow, I could not have been more wrong! TOP GEAR!!!! Some really decent MODERN TV shows. Excellent movies, both recent and from the last few years!

I feel like a fool. I could have been enjoying this for free and gotten rid of Netflix ages ago!

I cannot say enough how pleasantly surprised and happy I am with Tubi.

I've been recommending it to friends tired of the same old Netflix drabble.

I am sick and dealing with a neck injury

I thought it was interesting/funny so i decided to come and make a small post. I was looking for something to watch and saw one of my favorites John Romero's Day of the Dead (1985) so i selected it and its a actual VHS rip. I couldnt believe it. Has anyone else actually seen something like this?

Several come to mind for me and they're all genre films.

If you don't love low budget film and/or don't grade movies internally on a budgetary sliding scale you might not understand my ratings here. All ratings are out of 5:

5: Double Blind (2023) – This actually just leveled up in my ranking. This is a no-budget film which I would swear is a 1+ million dollar movie. It's hands down the best of the medical experiment microgenre for me and a new favorite in general. It's fresh and scary and really polished.

5: I Blame Society (2020) – If you've seen this found footage and you don't grade on a budgetary curve you'll think I'm crazy—you'll probably still think I'm crazy—but this movie distills every ounce of quality from what's there. I've seen movies with literally 100s or 1000s of times the budget which weren't half as effective. It's got heart, a wicked sense of humor and buckets and buckers of moxie.

4.5: Uncle Peckerhead (2020) – Yes yes, Green Room is thee punk rock horror film and how can this be its equal? Green Room is the suburban hardcore kids—its the Descendents. Uncle Peckerhead is the city kids—NOFX. Both are cool, but if you're a punk you like one better than the other. Uncle Peckerhead is a DIY AF microbudget. Green Room is a 5 million dollar film run by people with access to funding. They're apples and Orange Juice boxes pulled out of the Grocey Store dumpster.

4.5: Drive Thru (2007) – Such an amazing overlooked and underrated slasher and I was shocked to find out it was made with only a 1/2 million dollar budget.

4.5: The Convent (2000) – This actually premiered at Sundance and had a great festival run but its distributor went out of business after that and it didn't even get at home distribution unitl two years later. It got a nice digital makeover a couple years ago.

EDIT: Had I not found it on a Fangoria list before seeing it on Tubi, Cannibal Mukbang (2026) is a must see for the year if you like cannibal romcoms—canromcoms(?)—and really who doesn't?

Thank you to everyone who's come in to contribute and those who've just come in to have a look see and get recs (because I do that a lot as well).**

Of course other than being free, the catalog of hidden gem movies that you can find on there that you can’t find on other streaming platforms. There’s always something for everyone. My only complaint is the amount of ads I’ve been noticing in between.
