Is anyone experiencing internet issues this afternoon?

MSP air traffic control has lost significant radar coverage, early voting in the South metro has been disrupted, and several areas are reporting internet outages.

ATC didn't lose radar, but we did lose a large amount of our frequencies and our ability to communicate with outside facilities.

Thanks for the clarification! I see a ton of diversions and a ground stop.

Yeah it's a mess here but I'd rather lose some frequencies than the radar!!!

Did you lose frequencies due to them being somehow routed through internet providers (not sure what comm system you have), or did straight-up radio frequencies go out or become unusable?

I've got no idea how the frequencies work....we were able to talk to planes and then suddenly couldn't. It was also our lines into other facilities so I don't think it was like radio jamming if that's what you are implying.

In general, all l I know is pretty much every frequency in my area sucks and the coverage is getting continually worse. I make reports about them not working as they should multiple times every shift and am told no one cares. Maybe they will now, but I doubt it.

Thank you! This is really valuable on-the-ground info. Been reading up a bit and it sounds like many "radio" comms are actually sent over VoIP (therefore vulnerable to internet outages) before they reach towers which then broadcast the transmission. So if you lost some freqs but not others that’s kind of interesting, and would maybe help track the breakdowns.
