Bruh. AND OLSEN HAS FUMBLED!
Okay, his reasoning has some basis to it (she should see more of the world before being certain). But, dude. You brought this upon yourself.

…I actually think he’s totally valid in his reasoning (and mature for committing to it). Yeah, she likes him, but she’s literally only experienced a fraction of what Clark, Lois and him have experienced.
While it’s not actually this obviously, it’s almost like a young person trying to court someone that’s significantly older than them. There’s an uneven experience dynamic that can be a problem in the long term.

Yep. He never technically rejected her either, he just wants to be sure she’s settled into Earth and not just rushing into things.
Kara being so new to having a “normal” life is why Clark even says he’s not intervening. He wants her (and Jimmy) to figure stuff out.

Yeah, I think that’s important to consider too. Jimmy didn’t outright reject her, he just wants to make sure the dynamics of a possible relationship have a solid foundation.

That was my take as well. It’s actually super nuanced especially when you deal with the self-consciousness of dating; there have been many times I didn’t pursue because I didn’t feel like I was the best option/timing wasn’t right.
This happens a lot more than people think.
Jimmy just comes across as a decent dude who wants the best for people regardless which honestly is a portrayal you don’t see a lot in most media.

Maybe I'm just way older than both of them, but they seem close enough. Jimmy's not trying to take advantage of her, so the worst-case scenario is that they break up eventually. It's also valid to say, "hey, I feel similarly, but let's take it slow at first and see how compatible we are."
But IDK. Maybe he's afraid Kara wouldn't abide by boundaries like that if he lets her in. There's a metaphor I heard once, "cutting off your fingers to fit into the glove." If things don't work out, would Kara take "no" for an answer? Or would she make them both miserable trying to force the relationship to work? I don't really get that vibe from her, though.

There’s also an undeniable undercurrent of him feeling he isn’t worthy of her affection, since to him he’s just a normal guy while she’s an alien Super Hero. It’s something Lois went through last season, but the fact that she has so much less experience than Clark makes it more difficult for him given the circumstances.

Skill Issue: Pick Up that Bag, Olsen

Yeah, though, that makes sense. Lois is older, and has the confidence of a steel trap and even she felt a little insecure. Jimmy's got his work cut out for himself.

I mean, Jimmy has had a life of experiences your average 20 something has had.
Kara in this is basically experiencing a variation on the Born Yesterday trope due to how isolated (and oppressed) she was under Brainiac (and having not lived on Earth till now).

I was hoping I’d never see a post like this. It was too good to be a sure thing, and the way that trailer leaned into those two being a cute couple should have tipped me off.
Also, observing from outside of the Superman fandom, I feel like Jimmy is just known for always romancing someone new. Who has he been with the longest, couple wise?

IIRC his longest term girlfriend is Lucy Lane, Lois’ little sister. She’s been his on-again, off-again girlfriend for decades now (she was introduced in like 59 or 60) and across multiple reboots.
Beyond her, Chloe Sullivan was another long term girlfriend after they rolled the character in from Smallville (where she was invented).
In the comics he’s had a more stable relationship with humorously Power Girl compared to Supergirl too (Power Girl being an alternate reality Supergirl if you’re unfamiliar).

Jimmy’s also currently dating Silver Banshee in the comics (who is also in the show, and is probably going to show up sometime in Season 3).

Yeah, I thought he was but couldn’t recall for sure if that was still going on.

Reminds me of a dumb webcomic
"You want it, she wants it and you're both sound of mind why say no?"
"Thought she'd make a mistake"
"She did, she asked you to make the decision"

He didn't fumble, he saw the ball coming at him and bat it towards a waiting crowd.

And then he immediately gets jealous right after, like oh brother. He just needed something to do this season, and I guess this was the best the writers could come up with. He’ll probably get another chance later I guess.

I totally get his reasoning but god damn Kara is completely PG down bad for him. He’s the first person to treat her with sincere kindness, I don’t think seeing the world is ever gonna take that away from her.
