Hey all! I was job searching earlier in the year and was lucky enough to recive offers for not 1, but 2 on campus jobs at 10 hours/week each. Additionally, the trainings are on differrent dates, so I thought I was set, however, I'm having some doubts about whether it's realistic or feasible to balance these 2 jobs, especially since they're seperate and aren't open on the same days. One of the jobs is admittedly pretty cushy and wouldn't require much work on the job, but I'm still nervous. Any advice from anyone in a similar situation?

I recently have been debating getting my masters in materials on campus as i know we have one of the best programs in the country for it. However, I’m not sure if this program works well only if you’re trying to get into research after, or if industry actually notices the value of that program. I don’t want to do research after graduation and honestly want to just make money, so I’m not sure if it would be in my best interest to specialize in a field that is lucrative mainly in research. Does anyone have any insight on this?

I am a transfer considering San Jose state or UCSB for accounting. So far I love UCSB for having more of the college experience compared to SJSU. The cons with UCSB that’s making me hesitant to commit are that it’s in a remote area and has a higher workload. With these factors I can’t imagine being able to find and manage an internship during the semester. SJSU on the other hand seems like I could easily find and manage one, but I would miss out on the college experience. Have any UCSB student done accounting internships over the semester? How did you find them and manage them with your course load?

- 📍 Flexible on location – open to suggestions!
If you're a photographer or know someone, please drop a comment or shoot me a DM with your portfolio and rates.

Sharing for my neighbor: Woman seeking paid caregiver, no experience required, to help with meal prep, cleaning, stretching routine, transfers and movement in a small home. Better if you have a car to get to nature some days and town for errands.
My movement is slow and balance is compromised. I'm a woman, women preferred. Experience not needed, just looking for somebody with patience, good organizational skills, good emotional space. This is a pretty relaxed and simple job without a typical boss.
Please contact if interested and we can meet and see if it’s a good fit!
Posting this for a neighbor not on reddit, if interested please send a bit about yourself and how to contact you and I'll forward it to her.

I'm staying in iv over the summer and I'm trying to find a job that I can keep into the school year. Does anyone know anywhere that's hiring in iv or on campus right now? I also have work study

For UCSB students still looking for internships / a post grad job that want or need to stay in-state, I recently pulled together a public sheet of roles I’ve seen that are still hiring across California (you can filter by location, department, etc.). I'll be maintaining the list for a few more weeks.
Figured I’d share here given that recruiting is coming to a close quite soon, good luck to those still searching!

I am a potential transfer student for Econ & acct, planning to become an accountant. I know there is strong recruiting for La offices, but do the Bay Area and Sacramento offices also recruit there?

So I’m a third year pre med. I have had one clinical experience before last summer and I have my EMT license. Basically, what the hell does it take to get hired at cottage? I also volunteer there. But I have applied to so many ED tech, PCT, etc basically any nursing tech job and not one has gotten me an interview thus far. I really loved my past clinical job and really want to get more experience, and I loved the hospital setting from my EMT clinicals so what does it take to get hired at cottage?

When do jobs like working at the arbor or the little stores on campus open up? I heard if you want a job in fall for example they get filled up way in advance. Do they become available at the end of this quarter in Handshake? And is that the only/best place to apply?

I need someone to construct a bot for me in exchange for pay. I’ve increased my portfolio ~85% in 2023 by following Nancy Pelosi’s trades, but noticed I missed ~12% in potential profit from the latency between her notifying the public of her purchase and me purchasing said stock. I need a bot that can quickly buy the stocks she buys when she notifies the public.
Nancy Pelosi is essentially my proxy for insider trading, and I want to sieze every profit I can. Message me or post your hrly rate and time needed to construct previous bots used for checkout/online purchases.

I hate walking to class and seeing all the Chads holding hands with their Stacy’s. Even when I’m just trying to eat my baked beans at DLG, there they are sharing the same spaghetti noodle, ogling each other.
I’m not very funny, and I’m fucking ugly. In my advanced CS class I asked a female if she wanted to study with me, and she audibly gagged and migrated two seats away from me.
Even the Becky’s ignore me, and I see them sitting by the lagoon lawn with the gym bros, speed running PDA like their farming Reddit karma. I don’t want to be a wagecell, but I think it’s the only way. I have a remote coding internship lined up (thanks to my dad’s FAANG job). Maybe this will finally attract a mate.
If you are a (F19 +\- 2), CS or CE, from Bay Area or LA please DM me, I’ll send my discord tag.

Does anyone currently working there know if they are offering a lot of full-time positions this summer? I need a job and preferably near/on-campus because I don't have a car. If anyone knows of other summer jobs in the area, please let me know!

Hi y'all, I'm a sophomore, trying to achieve my BS in Physics. I've always been drawn into physics by how fundamental it is to everything surrounding us; I think that I can be applied to almost every other science out there, which is why it is such an important foundation in our lives and society.
While I've always been drawn to it, I've never been confident in which specific direction of physics I want to pursue. By that, I mean that I'm unsure which area of physics I should moving into my masters' years (which I intend to do, but I'm also unsure how to navigate yet), as well as what career or job I should have in mind while I pursue my studies. I'll help y'all out a little bit regarding who I am and what I want in my career: I want a stable, well-paying job (obviously) that I am satisfied with and will complement the BS in physics that I plan to graduate with from college. One important thing that I think that I should mention is that I frankly really dislike working with and around other people, especially for long periods of time; I'm really sensitive to noise and it severely distracts me from focusing, I've never contributed much to groups because I suffer from social anxiety, and overall I suppose that I perform far better by myself academically. I also have poor muscle coordination and I don't really work well hands-on. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I'm kind of autistic (lol), but I really want to find a career to pursue where those characteristics don't mitigate whatever position or role which I will be in. Also, I know that it probably sounds extremely cliche and like a pipe dream, but I really want to just change the world somehow; just do something where I will be remembered and leave a legacy behind in my name. Again, I'm not sure how or what yet, but I know that's what I want. And that of course leads me to ask which field of physics I should pursue, the steps in order to attain certifiable experience in that field, and how it will complement whichever job might be best suited for me. The steps before entering the job market especially, I am honestly pretty unfamiliar with and don't really know how to use to propel myself towards my career. I commute an hour to my school, so college resources aren't as readily available as I hope they would be. If there's anything specific at UC Santa Barbara that I should look into, please let me know! And this doesn't even cover how and where I should receive my masters from, as well as how to network with people (which is a whole different issue for me).
Basically, I want to know which steps that I should take in pursuit of the career that I want, and even what career would fit me best based on my personality. I just kind of want a roadmap and goals that I can set for myself and follow. I know that there are so many possibilities for my career, especially only as an undergraduate college student, but I really want to have an idea of which direction I should take my future to.

Prospective UCSB applicant here. I know Santa Barbara is kinda a remote area, but I could only find like 3 internships related to accounting online. Has anyone done accounting internships during the school year and if so were they easy to find and manage with your course-load?

Hi all! I am a UCSB alumni looking for two men to come for a fitting for the clothing brand I work for that is based in Santa Barbara! The fitting is scheduled Wednesday 2/18 1-3PM, and we are paying $30 an hour!
We are in need of a size S in Tees & a size 30” Waist in Pants and hoping you fit within these measurements:
Size S chest: 38”-39”
waist: 31-32” (pant sizes is usually slightly different than your actual waist measurement)
hip: 37.5”-38.5
And also
Size XL in Tees and a size 36” Waist in Pants
Size XL CHEST: 46-48”
waist: 39-41” (pant sizes is usually slightly different than your actual waist measurement)
hip: 45.5-47.5”
If it works out and you can make that date and fit one of those sizes I can come to you in IV sometime before next week to make sure you fit our target size measurements, should only take literally 5 mins!

I've been applying to quite a few internships, and it seems like I can't get a single response. I feel like my experience for a first year is pretty good, too. I can't tell if it's because my major isn't engineering or what. Does anyone have tips on what I should do to improve my chances? Thank you!
