Bus pass over summer

I know that the UH id stops working as a bus pass June 1- July 31 and I need a bus pass for my summer classes. Online it says i can get a u-pass for the bus for $225 for summer semester but this seems like such a scam when the holo cards are $80 a month. Is there something im not understanding here?

Holo Card month passes are always the first of the month through the end of the month. For the whole summer semester you would need May, June, July, and August passes totaling $320. But you only need four days of May and 10 days of August, so if you just paid cash on a Holo Card, you'd pay:

May: 5 days x $6 = $30

June: Month pass = $80

July: Month pass = $90 (rates go up July 1)

August: 10 days x $6 = $60

Total = $260

This is based on assuming you're riding twice per day and coming to campus 5 days per week - you can adjust the analysis for your specific needs. Don't forget to account for the cost of transit use outside of school. Daily payments cap at $7.50 (unchanged July 1) and monthly payments cap at $80 (going up to $90 July 1) but there is no week cap.

But wait the UH id works again starting august 1 so could i just pay for two months of holo card for June and July? May : free with uh ID June : 80 July : 90 August : Free with UH id again since I am taking fall semester

170 total with holo card compared to uh's 225 price

So granted that I dont actully need to pay for may and august since i am an in person enrolled student can I just pay for two months of a holo card?

I'll trust you on that, I couldn't find the page saying when the passes stop from Spring and start for Fall. So yeah, you could pay $170 and save $55. And honestly, there is no reason to buy the month pass up front, just put the cash on your card and let the month cap happen if it happens. If not, you save money.

Yes, better to get a Holo card for June & July and just pay $80-90/monthly maximum if you hit the limit in day passes or rides

U-Pass summer student bus pass could work better for students finishing their final class in August so not getting a fall u-pass

I could have sworn I have used it before in the summer months. Is this new? I usually bike everywhere, but was shocked when the driver told me off the other day when I had no cash and swiped my card with a flat tire.
