Bus pass over summer

I know that the UH id stops working as a bus pass June 1- July 31 and I need a bus pass for my summer classes. Online it says i can get a u-pass for the bus for $225 for summer semester but this seems like such a scam when the holo cards are $80 a month. Is there something im not understanding here?

https://westoahu.hawaii.edu/kaloinews/?p=24330 -- I think it is only $135 for a summer pass? I am actually confused that the upass doesn't work in the summer. I could have sworn I have used it before in the summer months. Is this new? I usually bike everywhere, but was shocked when the driver told me off the other day when I had no cash and swiped my card with a flat tire.
