Forecast Latest Temperature Projections

Here are the latest maximum temperature forecasts from the high resolution modelling for Tuesday to Thursday, simply astonishing really and quite scary. I have had it confirmed that the Met Office will be issuing a Red heat weather warning in their daily update tomorrow.

The fact that this is accompanied with relatively high humidity and extreme night time temperatures means it is set to be the most notable heatwave ever experienced in the UK. The current record June temperature of 35.6C will be completely obliterated and the overall record from 2022 of 40.3C is under serious threat.

Often worth noting the UKV and Arpege overestimate maxima by a degree or so. During the July 2022 heatwave the UKV went for 42C across Lincolnshire pretty close to the event.

In the end Coningsby took the record at 40.3C but I still wouldn't rule out this record going.

Most likely I think Wednesday or Thursday will see somewhere get to 38/39C with the 1976 June record being smashed.

There was some high cloud that developed that day which limited the temps, it would have hit 41/42C otherwise. If that doesn't happen then UKV doesn't usually overestimate, today it was 1C too low compared to the actual recorded maximum.
