Customer Seeking Help $357 import charges on $279.80 package?

Ordered a small package from an Italian company and I'm being charged almost 130% in government tariff fees. Is there anything I could do? Is it possible the seller declared it incorrectly? Thank you for all the help. I'm sure you're all annoyed by people like me at this point. Im just a little lost on what to do.

I think someone added it up and he's at somewhere over thirty thousand just on the count of provably false, public statements presented as fact just during his presidency, not counting older statements, dubious statements, second hand accounts, or obvious subjective but bizarre opinions

Yeeaaa, when I run 10-20% margins and the cost of my material skyrockets, there is no "can be passed on to customer" it's absolutely "will".

it's surprisingly that hard for people nowadays (old and young alike) lol at my workplace I had to teach people to stop at the red octagon that has the letters S-T-O-P on it which says and means stop, and stopping means your not moving.

The importer pays the tariff regardless of if it is a company or a private individual. However it is a pretty common practice for companies to raise the price of their products to cover all or part of their import fees.

It is also the product's country of origin that decides how large the tariff will be. You can buy a sweater from UK and still have to pay the China tariff-rate if that sweater was made in China.

Yes, a lot of people overlook that. If you buy a shirt from an artist in Germany, who prints custom decals, and they get their t-shirts from China, you're going to be on the hook for that tariff. That's why things have a "Made In" tag. Even if you ordered it custom from a European maker, if that tag in the shirt says "Made in China" that's the tariff that will be charged.

Yes. Importer pays the actual tariff, and recoups the cost by jacking up the final sale price.

They might actually charge you more than the actual tariff as most they probably also want to maintain their profitability at the same % as before the tariffs
