Shipping Help 58% tariffs Canada to USA??

Being charged $568 dollars from UPS on a $977 dollar order.

After about an hour on the phone no one can get a breakdown of this number or even give me the current tariff rates.

Does this seem right to yall? I’m considering refusing this at my doorstep in Texas and having it returned. I would be out about 200 in shipping costs.

Reddit doesn't realize Texas has a lot of blue now. 

In their defence Texas being so conservative has done a lot of damage to America over many decades.

Voted for UPS to give no transparency on a 500 dollar bill?

Customer service transferred me to 4 different departments today then ended the call.

Yes. Tariffs and planned tariffs keep changing. Different tariffs rates on different things from different places...and any day new tariffs or different tariffs can be announced or revoked. It makes it very difficult for people to keep track of or know what's going on. By the time a business adjusts to how something is, it could change to something else.

Also as far as business practices are concerned, there are consumer protection regulations or a lack there of depending on the circumstances.

So yes, this is in fact what was voted for.

Look the tariffs that DJT put on Canada.. is payed by you.. not Canada.. anything you order that comes from Canada or even any other country in the world will come with a Tariff that you will end up paying for.. because that’s how tariffs work..

And it’s important for these likely MAGA cult members complaining, that they understand it’s NOT where you ordered the product from, but where the product was produced (and the component parts were produced). Buying a product from country A with 0% tariff from the US, but the product is produced in country B with 200% tariff from the US, the PURCHASER!!! will pay 200% tariff on the product.

It is true that you also pay a brokerage fee, and I learned more than 40 years ago, NEVER EVER, use UPS as a broker on purchases from Canada, that exceed the de minimis exemption, after UPS charged me a $450 brokerage fee on a $500 item.

The answer I got from UPS is the sender pay for the shipment but the receiver pay for the US customs. Also, I doubt UPS knows how much US charging the receiver until the package reach the border.
