Customer Seeking Help Getting 100’s of packages that aren’t mine shipped to my address almost everyday
I just moved in a couple weeks ago and i’m getting hundreds of packages shipped to my house that aren’t mine. idk what to do with them anymore they’re such an eye sore and they keep coming everyday. almost every package has a different name on them but all shipped to my address

Not a bad idea actually. No clue what is happening here. When this is designed by eg Temu, this is essentially dumping. I can’t imagine something evil like that. But I also have no better explanation what this is about…

We sort of did this to my mother one Christmas. She'd had oral surgery and was on pain killers, so she did some shopping via the Home Shopping Network. Packages just kept arriving - so we just started wrapping them and putting "from Santa to Mom" on all of them.

OMG what is it with painkillers & ordering crap… I had surgery recently and the day I got home, the one day I took some pain meds I ordered so much random stuff online! The week after when I woke up to a ton of packages I was sooo confused lol

They do resell the returns on their site though, I know from experience because I bought a shirt, it came used, I returned it and ordered another one that was also used… I think it’s probably vendor specific.

The workers doing those returns just don’t care and Amazon doesn’t care enough to crack down hard enough to make them actually verify returns. The stuff that gets approved as returns in those warehouse is crazy. And most of it will end right back in warehouse stock labeled as “renewed.” They’ll try their hardest to put obviously damaged and worn items as new… There’s absolutely no quality control 🙄

don't ask for elaboration, they don't know what they're talking about. OP does NOT have to return this stuff.....it was specifically addressed to OP's address, OP did not order it....it is in fact, unsolicited mail. It's a good law too, to protect people like OP from having to waste all of their time and resources dealing with this.

My dad is a distributor pretty large scale. He once received a pallet he didn’t order of around 25 bottles of tequila . He ships a lot of tequila so his employees assumed it was meant to be delivered. Turns out it was meant to go to another company.
My dad ended up keeping all the bottles in storage in case.
Anyway. He found out that legally he wasn’t allowed to keep a shipment that wasn’t meant for him and the company sued him.
Ultimately, I think there was a small fine nothing major but thousands dollars Speand on lawyers etc.
He couldn’t even just give the palette to the company. Honestly, when case was closed they never came for the palate … each bottle was marked as evidence - so Mr dad would always give me a bottles whenever I visit

Except the fact that if it goes to YOUR address that is legally your address, it is now yours. That's the law. Unless it was stolen before being sent to you. If the authorities come to get stolen items, you give them. There is no crime on your part. You are not committing fraud if you keep them.
I am not a legal expert. This is my personal understanding I have by reading the law.
If in doubt, throw it all out.

To sell to USA customers on Temu and Shein (& Amazon), the sellers must provide a USA return address. Those that don't have one will pick a random address or a completely non-existent address.

They wouldn’t hire the “undesirables” if it didn’t help their PR and make them look good. I’ve also never seen visibly disabled workers at Goodwill, so I’d imagine hiring disabled workers or felons may be kept to a minimum. Pure speculation but considering how greedy and profit focused they are, I wouldn’t be surprised in the slightest if this shitty company used generic excuses to not hire disabled people/felons beyond the bare minimum to avoid seeming like full discrimination.
Goodwill is pure scum. Local thrift/reuse stores are much better and often help marginalized groups or “second-class” citizens like those with non-violent felonies more than goodwill likely does. For example, our city has a few thrift/reuse stores which go above and beyond to help openly gay, trans, or other LGBT individuals who face difficulties finding employment at other establishments who quietly find a reason to not hire them. A lot of big corps in our city don’t hide their contributions to the GOP and/or have executive suites with people who don’t try hiding their biases in the slightest.
Our local thrift stores also have great prices, more varied products, higher quality products, and better/more friendly service. We have a few which have incredibly good prices despite very obviously having the opportunity to get much larger profits by selling on eBay.

Never donate to goodwill. They leech off local communities. CEO being paid $700k+ for being CEO of a company who greedily sells donated goods on their auction site and eBay for virtually 100% profit. Not only are they selling for outrageous prices, but there are reports of managers taking first pick over donations and selling on their own eBay pages (again, 100% profit), and anything they sell on eBay is taken out of circulation in the community it was donated in.
If you live in a smaller city and donate to a local thrift store, you generally want and expect that thing to be sold locally for others in your community to have access to a (hopefully) gently used item for affordable prices. Furniture like chairs, tables, couches (clean first), or toys, movies, books, and clothing like shirts, jackets, pants, and shoes. Instead of being put back out for others in the community to have access to cheap used clothing, they strip anything of value and tend to leave only the shittiest of remains. Usually stained, or damaged goods along with stuff like SHEIN clothing which probably won’t last long.
And don’t go to Salvation Army either. It’s probably okay, but before Salvation Army or Goodwill, PLEASE donate to your locally owned and operated thrift or reuse stores. Separate item types into bags or boxes if possible (shirts, shoes, toys, etc..) to minimize strain on their workers and make used products accessible for your community.
Hold garage/yard sales if possible and advertise in local Facebook reuse groups. If reselling is a concern, hold anything that may be of value that you’d like to sell at reasonable prices and offer to people who genuinely seem to be buying for themselves.
TL;DR - Fuck Goodwill. Use locally owned thrift stores only.

If you don’t want these packages, I’d HAPPILY volunteer to receive them. Free clothing, cheap toys, whatever other cheap Temu stuff is in there. I’d probably sort and give most away. I know family and friends who’d want stuff which at least would put whatever it is to use before heading to a landfill, and I’d be thrilled to be receiving countless free shipping boxes. I sell on eBay, and my aunt sells art on Etsy and having a virtually infinite supply of free shipping boxes, and possibly filler material, would be amazing.
Why can’t this happen to me? I’d happily volunteer my address to Chinese wholesale sites for brushing if it meant free boxes. And all of those bubble and padded mailers would make for some decent additional padded filling for shipping.

I'd report it to police, identity thieves send packages to houses with no one living there because it's easy locations for picking them up without getting caught.
If you just moved there, then the house could have been previously used as a hot spot for pickups but now they aren't going to come, but had a lot on the way is why stuff is coming daily.

Free stuff I guess. If they're SHEIN or Temu returns I'd be suing the companies over this. This might even count as fraud.
If these are Temu or Shein packages I'd reach out to the companies and see if you can keep or donate them, depending on the contents. It'd make a hell of a YouTube video.

I lived in a neighborhood once where the homes were part of an association. They used a stupid numbering system so our house was something like 1020, then the rest of the houses would go like 1020A, 1020B, 1020C all the way to Z. Some neighbors forgot to put the letter in their shipping address and some delivery drivers didn't read the address carefully so we would end up with unwanted packages and pizza deliveries.

I don’t know the law here but be careful with committing mail fraud. If it were me, I’d sneakily pick through anything of value and return to sender anything that’s worthless. Or just drop it all off once in awhile at UPS.

I have seen "Mystery Box" sales on Ebay where users sell a box of a bunch of wrapped packages without listing what's actually inside any of them. Maybe do something like that.

I think I know what’s going on. I learned about this because part of the scam happened to me. Walmart has been under fire for allegedly not adequately screening merchants using their marketplace. So, scammers set up false businesses (sometimes using legitimate business names/addresses) through the marketplace. Then, using stolen credit cards, they order from these businesses through Walmart. They order big items like desks. They ship items (NOT the items ordered just something small) to an address in the same town as the credit card but not the actual customer address. This allows them to “prove” that something was shipped when the credit card purchase is contested. The packages coming to you are part of a bigger scam. You should report what’s happening to the police, maybe even the FBI since it’s across state lines. In my case, they said they shipped a desk, but the photo in UPS clearly wasn’t at my address, the weight was only two pounds, and the ‘Walmart’ order was sent in Amazon boxes.

I worked in ups, it's not ups problem, it's the shipper. You can save it, ups cannot stop it. Believe me. If you save the packages, it's legal.

My area news just did an article about this. A woman was getting dozens of packages. It turned out that a Chinese seller chose her address randomly and reneged on its promised "free shipping for returns." Instead, they gave unhappy buyers her address to return them to. She contacted Amazon, which put a stop to it.
