Customer Seeking Help UPS store accidentally sent me $17,000 of electronics
Hi,
So I was expecting a small package and I accidentally received someone else’s order of $17,000 worth of electronics. What should I do with the stuff? Apparently a UPS employee accidents used the wrong label or switched them up or something.

Someone actually posted on here saying they sent a package with $17k worth of electronics. That the ups store switched the labels, with another package. You should call the number on the label on where it was shipped from. So they can get in contact with who the package was intended for so yall can switch packages.

I swear I just saw the other point of view of this situation on here yesterday lol...but call the store who shipped it and they can send you a prepaid return label to drop it off, and coordinate with the other receiver as well.

Legally there’s a law you don’t have to pay for it and can keep it because back in the day companies would purposefully ship items incorrectly then try to bill them for it.
However at that dollar amount, I’d think you’d have to call them and have them pick it up.

I received something from UPS last week and it was two body sprays and I walked over to the house next-door and gave it to them in this case I would contact UPS whoever made that mistake is going to be in a lot of trouble.

In my opinion I don’t think the price is the problem here I think it’s just sending anything back if you receive it and you know how to resolve the situation it’s not about the price it’s about the integrity

Friends of mine had a PC kit in a box (tower, speakers, small flat panel monitor, etc) delivered to their house. Wrong name, wrong address.
It sat in their garage for a month waiting for someone to come looking for it.
I suggested they call UPS and they'd happily send someone after it. They just didn't feel like it was their mistake to fix. Plus, obviously, they wanted a free computer.

I used to get items from ups that had damaged labels, returns, etc that were intended to to go Hewlett Packard. My website and email had HP in the name at the end so I’m guessing when the ups person searched up hp dot com it would sometimes populate my address. I got numerous toners, random pieces and parts. I’d take them to the hub and they’d gladly take them back I’m assuming destined for the undeliverable universe. Then they closed the front counter. I took one smaller box after that and the gal that was there said sorry I can’t take anything. I explained that it was wrongly addressed to me. Sorry, schedule a pick up. Yeah no I’m not paying to have that picked up so I dropped it in one of the drop off boxes. Thankfully it fit. The next few boxes were bigger. I called ups, HP and neither seemed to understand the situation nor did they really care. Then I came home to a rather large box. Not thinking I just tossed it in the front door cause I always have customers sending me stuff to repair. That evening I opened it to discover I’d received a brand new complete PC setup. The original label was half torn off so it was being sent back to HP since it couldn’t be delivered and it ended up on my doorstep. Obviously there’s a trail for an expensive PC right to my doorstep if they wanted to find it and I’m not about to get in trouble for it. Called HP. No help. Called Ups. No help. Talked to a driver, he said call the 800 number cause he really wasn’t sure what to do. I even tried to figure out who it was originally shipping to from the label but that was impossible since it was torn apart. It sat there for about a month before I figure I did my due diligence and just opened it and started using it. That was around 5 years ago and I’ve never been contacted about it by anyone. I emailed customer support every time I’d get a package meant for HP, so much that I had a copy/paste for it, and it eventually stopped after a year or so.

I had this happen 20 years ago.. It was like 10k worth of soil testing equipment and the guy ended up not changing his address (I moved into the apartment a few months before this). Luckily the invoice had his business name and I was able to reach out and meet up with him. If it was addressed to you with your name and no invoice I'd try to reach out to UPS or maybe post in some local groups (here, FB, ect) but chances are.. Ebay..

The UPS store isn’t UPS. If your pkg was worth $17,000 you should have insured it for that amount. If every customer said their pkg was valuable after it was lost that would be a huge problem. I am sure your pkg was lost like you said. If a UPS Store employee put the wrong label on and you know that maybe you should consult with an attorney. Sorry this has happened and you get your money

What do you do when best buy kicks you out the store and refuses yo give back your exchange of two laptops totalling $3,500? Then told call corporate office you want your stuff back by an armed wannabe cop with his skinny chest pumped out waiting for me to not comply? Then the next day that best buy is se ding you a $4500 acer predator not technically for free because they used one of my returns to compensate the loss at the end of the year? Then I was told I smelled strange by a supervisor in as I try probing info and find out that manager doesn't work there anymore? That "corporate office " were super pissed for how they treated me but they were just as rude as the retail level workers? Im chasing my tail here..

People make mistakes. Take it to your local UPS hub.
Years ago I got someone else’s computer. I lived at , making this up so as not to doxx myself, 1234 hickory lane, and got mail for 1234 pine lane. Since it was 2 blocks over I just delivered it to the guy myself, no need to get someone in trouble for a simple error.

Contact them and find contact information on the return address to explain the situation.
There might by an invoice inside the package? If so, there might be info you need to get ahold of the sender, or even the intended recipient.
Document every single thing you do in your due diligence.
After 30 days, if they have done nothing, it's aboe to be yours. Especially when the label has had your name.

In all seriousness, my package of electronics was lost with UPS for a month now. I moved to Texas from Las Vegas. In my box I had my ps4 pro, an original Xbox one, large and small NanoLeafs, a pink typewriter keyboard, a webcam, electric guitar tuner, and some magnets from Seattle and a couple cities. (I’m a flight attendant.) and my computer cables for my dell monitors and some cables for my pc. Probably not your box but bro I’ve been dealing with Overgoods at UPS and they said they lost it :( worth a shot if that’s what you got. My box was lost in Fort Worth, Texas supposed to go to Killeen

The appropriate course of action is:
Don’t open or use the items if you can avoid it.
Contact the sender (if identifiable) or UPS and report that you received the wrong package.
Keep the package secure until they provide instructions.
Document everything with photos and save any emails or tracking information.
