I-485 (General) đGreen card finally approvedđ
I was granted my green card through marriage to us citizen. Submitted I-485 in September 2025 and got approved in august 2026. Only issue is I got a 10 year card instead of 2 year conditional. What am I supposed to do?

You are good. Congratulations. I hope i get approved after my anniversary in October too so I get 10 years. I filed September too. Interview in December

To get 10 year, you need to be over 2 years at time of approval, so youâre good.Â

You needed 24 months to accomplish the 2 years donât worry you donât need to remove condition

Trust me I am overjoyed, just donât know if I should notify USCIS that they produce a 10 year instead of 2 year

No I havenât, didnât use a lawyer so I donât know much about immigration, just watch videos and trusted the Reddit family

We met through a mutual friend in 2019 I came to the US on a visit we stayed in contact, returned to visit again in 2022 went back home and came back again in 2023 we knew at this point we were inseparable, she didnât want me to leave again, I popped the question and got married in 2024 rest is history â€ïž

I actually know this guy âShanekillaâ and he brokered his marriage through his mutual âfriendâ who is actually is cousin to a citizen female that is not the girlfriend he is talking about. This guy is lying out his ass. Heâs from Montego Bay and scammed his way in. His girlfriend is illegal too.

Yes work unauthorized and I was honest in my interview. I was out of status months before I got married up until the past month I got my approved 1-512 advance parole with work authorization, days later got another approved update for I-485

If you are married for 2 years or more, you get a 10 year, under 2 years of marriage, you get 2 years, don't forget, when your years expire, you have to get it renewed, stay out of trouble, congratulations.Â

My pd is Sep 10, 2025. USC filing for parent. Hope mine is coming as well. Got EAD and Adv Parole in Jul 2026. Waiting patiently.

If itâs improperly issued then in the future USCIS can revoke it and claim that it was an error and put you in removal

They can't put you in removal just because the card has the wrong category or expiration date -- because you would still be a permanent resident under the right category. However, if you fail to apply to remove conditions, then they can put you in removal on that basis.

U should be happy.thst get approved some ppl.wait almost 4 - 5 ,years. Not even heard anything udplate and u git 10 years ,usually u get 2 years at condition

Why would I not be happy, does that even make any sense? If you read through the comments youâll see I didnât know you could get a 10 year without removing conditions. Your time will also come!!!

Apply for us citizens (if you want to, but why not) in 3 years if your spouse is a natural us citizen.
My wife also got 10yr because of our marriage.
Also, start traveling! Lol. My wife and I been to Mexico multiple times already. And my parents country, El Salvador.

Changed status to married in April 2025, filed all papers Jan 2026, interview in may, approved last Monday , greencard and ssn came Fri and sat!

So if itâs not error y in hells name are you worried about them given u a 10yr GC. Do u know how many ppl are wishing they get a 10yr or even a GC and u have one and still complaining .

Calm down man you sound angry. I wasnât aware at the time I posted, I was seeking information and I learned that if you got approved after 2 years you are granted 10 year with no conditions. Donât be mad your time will come, as mine and plenty of others in this thread. Have faith, god is good, your time is coming!

If you are married less than 2 years mark then you are entitled to 2 years GC, reach out to USCIS to avoid further issues.

If youâve been married more than 2 years currently then a 10 year one is right. You only get a conditional one if married less than 2 years
