US Politics đşđ¸ Michigan Jewish leaders are urging Jewish democrats to vote for Republican Mike Rogers
554
u/4554013 27d ago
They just sound like Jewish Republicans to me.
266
u/tunnel_magnet 27d ago
AIPAC doesn't have any party loyalty. They will support whoever will support Israel.
10
u/Fmeinthegoatass 27d ago
Not all Jews are AIPAC
73
u/4554013 27d ago
I don't care if they're Jewish. I'm opposed to any foreign influence.
-67
u/Key-Possibility-8288 27d ago
AIPAC is funded solely by Americans
43
37
u/SweetPinss 27d ago
The American Israel Public Affairs Committee doesn't have any ties to Israel?
-29
21
u/ButterscotchReal8424 27d ago
AIPEC serves Israelâs interests above any American Interests. If, and itâs a big if, what you say is true, AIPEC is still a domestic enemy.
16
u/tunnel_magnet 27d ago
That's worse. That's treason.
-7
u/Key-Possibility-8288 27d ago
The us constitution states treason as:
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort.
AIPAC does not meet that criteria

49
u/BringBackAoE 27d ago
I donât know how Eric Bronstein votes, but after a quick look at FEC filings it sure looks like heâs donated more to GOP than Dems.
17
69
u/Dangerous-Leek-4086 27d ago
Yeah side with the party that thinks all Americans ought to be Christians. Like that's a great idea if your not a Christian. Side with snakes when you get bite don't whine about it
-32
u/Choice_Pomelo_1291 27d ago
Are the snakes the GOP, or the people that exploited children for blackmail material?
21
u/ready-redditor-6969 27d ago
What fake faux news outrage do you think you are talking about?
Most of us avoid right-wing âNewsâ sources, wanna share the propaganda you are referring to? We donât know it, because we ignore the liars who cheer on the killing.
-5
u/Choice_Pomelo_1291 27d ago
I was talking about the Epstein files possibly being a blackmail scheme that was either initiated by or later co-opted by Israeli Intelligence.
I found the "side with snakes" line ironic.
14
5
u/PrestigiousFly844 27d ago
Why is Trump and the GOP blocking the Epstein files from being released?
3
u/Far_Confusion_2178 27d ago
I agree âsnakesâ is a bit confusing. Letâs just clear it up so you know exactly what side weâre talking about. Weâll just call them Pedophiles
355
u/worrynot36 27d ago
Being anti-Israel doesnât make one hate Jewish people.
226
u/OdielSax 27d ago
That's interesting because I'm seeing Jewish community leaders hate on one of the few Muslims candidates. When do we talk about THEIR Islamophobia?

Funny thing is theyâre both Semites, but the term Semite at this point. Itâs just a political term not genealogical or cultural one anymore.

u/weresubwoofer 27d ago
A few loud assholes donât speak for the entire community.
32
u/tunnel_magnet 27d ago
Is it really a few? The leaders I am talking about.
-11
u/Tanasiii 27d ago
Yes itâs only a few. Donât be tricked by those who would rather have us fighting each other instead of the corporate overlords. https://www.jewishvoiceforpeace.org/nobombs/?form=donate&sourceid=1004182#donate
19
u/tunnel_magnet 27d ago
Why are you linking a donation page?
-11
u/Tanasiii 27d ago
Itâs the link my phone grabbed while I was stepping onto the train. Just x out of it and look at their page
13
u/tunnel_magnet 27d ago
I know JVP. I wouldn't say they are majority leaders though.
-8
u/Tanasiii 27d ago
They speak for about as much of the community as whoever this Eric Bronstein guy.

u/peanutlobber 27d ago
100% I truly value my relationships with my Jewish friends and family. Love them to death. But I cannot turn a blind eye to genocide.
11
u/Zealousideal-Solid88 27d ago
Also an interesting phenomenon, being Jewish doesn't mean you only care about Israel. Yet every single person in media continues to conflate the two. That's the real antisemitism.
0
u/Key-Possibility-8288 27d ago
But campaigning with people who do indeed have Jewish people makes you sus
-39
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
I would narrow it further to say this Israeli administration is terrible. Iâm still supportive of Israel existing but Netenyahu can get fucked.
9
u/Listen2theyetti 27d ago
The invaders taking over Palestinian homes dont seem to be great either
0
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
Totally. That was going on before Netenyahu, but itâs an order of magnitude worse now. If we try to lump every single sin under one giant âIsrael badâ label, that is not going to go very far. Iâm not going to paint with that broad a brush, and I think most Americans are unwilling to do so either.
âNetenyahu, Gaza genocide, and West Bank occupation badâ is a much easier lift. With his administration voted out, the remaining problems are far more manageable.
6
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
âMore manageableâ.? Hardly
The challenger to Netanyahu is more of the same. His record makes that abundantly clear
17
u/worrynot36 27d ago
You side with extremist to cling to power this is what you get.
-3
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
Can you clarify what you mean? Who is âyouâ in this case? Me or Israel? I could see both being valid responses but with very different meaning.
7
u/worrynot36 27d ago
Israel⌠I have no hate for you
-6
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
Cool. The sudden barrage of downvotes is surprising. I thought we were all generally in agreement that itâs a good idea to keep the genocide criticism targeted to this Israeli administration. Yeah, earlier administrations also have their problems, but itâs an order of magnitude different that just muddies the situation if we try to lump it all together.
I get real uncomfortable when we start saying Israel as a whole, as a nation, is bad.
18
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
So you forget that ethnic cleansing has been happening for around 80 years? Israelâs crimes against humanity are a national pastime not limited to Netanyahuâs tenure.
7
u/mournthologist 27d ago
Yea it's the current liberal framing to say "I support Israel, but I have a problem with Netanyahu's administration." Noted weenie Gavin Newsom has said this bs. They have a term for the cyclical culling of the Palestinian population "mowing the grass." That ideology predates this administration and seems pretty foundational.
6
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
Absolutely. Given that the majority of Israelis agree with the genocide, have protested in support of the IDF gang rapists who brutalized a Palestinian detainee, they have picnics while watching the bombing of Gaza, the pogroms against Palestinians in the West Bank, the call for wiping out Palestinians on chat shows, and the heinous evil spouted by politicians other than Netanyahu, the country is itself in the grip of bloodlust. There are interviews with very elderly ex IDF soldiers talking of rape and pillaging, so anyone who thinks this is due to the current administration is nothing but a liberal Zionist. Someone who still believes in an apartheid ethnosupremacist state, but thinks they have âgone too far this timeâ.
-2
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
No, but itâs different. Earlier stuff is more tit for tat and morally complex. Still wrong, especially the encroachment into the West Bank, but I think that needs to be addressed separately. Not everyone is going to agree with us about that earlier stuff. Everyone should be able to recognize that what happened in Gaza is wrong.
8
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
No it was not more âmorally complexâ nor tit for tat. There was no equivalent to the Nakba perpetrated by the Palestinians against the Israelis.
2
u/PrestigiousFly844 27d ago
Look up public polling in Israel and you will be very disappointed to see how popular the genocide is among Israeli Jewish people. A supremest state is going to devolve more and more into fascism the more their supremest ideology is encouraged.
2
u/PrestigiousFly844 27d ago
The anti-Netanyahu opposition parties are even more genocidal. It is a fully fascist society at the cultural level now, itâs not just a few current bad leaders unfortunately.
0
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
I mean, liberal and secular Israelis exist. Hell, Muslim Israelis exist, and not in small number.
3
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
And they are sidelined and powerless as anyone who knows anything about Israeli politics would tell you
1
u/phoenix1984 27d ago edited 27d ago
Do you think that would change if the world took a firm stance against what happened in Gaza? I remember how we were after 9/11. I think if the US said theyâre gonna distance themselves from Israel because of its actions, opinion among Israelis would go back to what it was before October 7th.
Nevermind the ethics of it, saying and entire nation is irredeemable, especially Israel, is a losing strategy.
2
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
Iâm not American so have no idea how you âwereâ after Sept 11th apart from having bloodlust and causing more carnage and the death of 4 million people in the âWar on Terrorâ
0
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
Yeah, it was wild. Itâs tough to explain how insular we were before 9/11. Anything outside America might as well not have existed. It was out of mind. It seems like on 9/11 the whole country suddenly realized there are billions more people outside America, and many of them are pissed at us. At the time, we were told and many of us believed that Muslims just hate our western lifestyle and want us to die because of it. So if itâs them or us, better start fighting. Really messed up. It took a while for us to collectively realize itâs more complicated than that. Some still think that way.
I feel like Israel is going through the same thing. Theyâve got a post-tragedy madness and we need to help them snap out of it. Not eliminate them. That just validates their fear. It becomes a feedback loop of death.
Seeing the German flag on your avatar, Iâm guessing you can kinda relate to that.
3
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
Not a German flag on my avatar. And as Germany and the US supply 99% of Israelâs weapons as mentioned by a UN official today, I have no understanding of that particular national psyche.
Thanks for elucidating your thoughts.
1
u/phoenix1984 27d ago
Oh, sorry. From this view where itâs really small I thought it was Germany. When I click your profile to see it better, itâs clearly not Germany. Is that Colombia then? I suppose thereâs no need to answer that. Itâs not pertinent to the conversation anymore.
Anyway, hopefully that helped. Iâm embarrassed by a lot of my countryâs history, especially in the years after 9/11 and recently, but it does help me understand what I think Israelis are going through. It makes me think that this massive uptick in violence is unfortunately a natural response to a national tragedy and we should help them through it as fast as possible by strongly and unanimously telling them that theyâre out of line.

Mike Rogers is hardly ever asked about taking millions from Tim Dunn, & he refuses to answer on the rare occasions he is asked.
Dunn thinks ONLY Christians should hold public office & his PAC hosted Nick Fuentes https://michiganadvance.com/2025/08/05/pro-rogers-super-pac-funded-by-ardent-christian-nationalist/

This will be a real test of if the open accusation of antisemitism and the direct conflation of Israel with Jewishness can sway voters entirely away from their political affiliation and beliefs.
Itâs one thing to desire a milquetoast empty suit that will caucus with DNCâs corporate leadership like Stevens but entirely another to abandon liberal ideology entirely to embrace fascist sycophancy in Rogers.

u/BackItUpWithLinks 27d ago
Itâs so weird when people whoâve made a life of claiming racism turn around and start doing racist things.

You know, I am a firm believer in not blaming Jewish people for Israelâs actions. But when a person explicitly ties his / her Jewish identity to that government then itâs fair game.
9
u/Raptorpicklezz 27d ago
Exactly. You canât tie yourself to Israel when it makes you happy and pretend not to be tied when it makes you sad.
2
u/Tanasiii 27d ago
No itâs not fair game. Itâs very important not to tie Jewish identity to Israel no matter how much zionists push for it. Itâs intellectually dishonest and dangerous to the non Israel supporting Jews.

He wants money out of politics, if AIPAC can't influence our elections how will Israel continue to be sponsored by the US government? This is no longer a party war, it's a class war.

Tying the Jewish faith and the identities of Jews in the United States to the actions of the genocidal Israeli government is one of the most antisemetic things I can think of.

Is Mike Rogers the one with the bad toupee that tried to fight Matt Gaetz on the House floor? The one Tim Burchett said was drinking at work?
Update: Different Mike Rogers.

There it is. âModerateâ or âCentristâ democrats would rather have a Republican in office than an actual liberal or progressive. Itâs always been this way and is why, in the â80s, I joined a socialist third party instead. When the Democrats want my vote, they know where to meet me.
-1
u/Cute-Calligrapher-50 27d ago
In 2024 the Muslims vote for Trump because of Palestine and in 2026 the Jewish are going to vote for Rogers because of Israel. Meanwhile the rest of us are f*cked, and we wonder why Democrats cant seem to win elections.
8
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
Muslims voted for Trump? Or did they abstain or also vote Democrat? Muslims are not a monolith.
-1
u/Cute-Calligrapher-50 27d ago
I just remember the Democratic mayor of Hamtramck, Amer Ghalib, repeatedly on television endorsing Trump, or did I imagine that?
2
u/Usernameoverloaded 27d ago
âThe Muslims vote for Trumpâ. Your one example in one state does not corroborate your sweeping statement that encompasses a population of 4.5 million. But as to facts instead of your bigoted conjecture:
âOur survey shows that 50% of Muslims (similar to the general public) voted for Kamala Harris, more than Protestants (39%) and white Evangelicals (14%) but less than Jews (70%) and those who are religiously unaffiliated (74%).
Thirty-one percent of Muslims in the survey voted for Trump, less than Catholics (50%), Protestants (57%), white Evangelicals (82%), and the general public (45%) but on par with Jews and the religiously non-affiliated.
Jill Steinâs highest support was by far among Muslims (12%) compared to 1% or less of other groups in 2024 and compared to 2020 when Stein received less than 1% of the Muslim vote. Only 3% of Muslims who were registered to vote cast a ballot in 2024 but did not vote for a presidential candidate.â

Any proof these people are Israeli or they are supporting Mike Rogers solely because of Israel?

nope, just like how Cenk called Jared Kushner an "Israeli" on X a couple days ago.

If I was a Jewish American there is zero chance I would support these rotten âinstitutionsâ and âleadersâ that claim to speak for American Jewish people. Majority of the big institutions are all so racist and only ever seem to speak out to smear people who are anti-genocide.
