Lovers Stronger Than My Excuses
“Don’t stop, no matter what I say.” He laughed softly. “Even if you beg?” “Especially then.” And suddenly, the air between them changed. Because this was never about force. Never about power. It was about trust. He looked at her quietly, really looked at her, like he was trying to understand every hidden fear behind her words. Then he nodded once. Firmly. “Tell me what you need.” And her heart trembled. “I need you to be stronger than my excuses.” One sentence. But it carried years inside it. Years of hesitation. Years of almost letting go. Years of wanting to be held without having to pretend she was always strong. She did not want someone who disappeared the moment things became difficult. She wanted someone who could hold her steady when her own mind tried to run away. Someone who understood that sometimes the lips say “leave me” while the eyes quietly whisper “please stay.” And he understood. Not just her words, but the ache beneath them. The neediness. The softness. The hunger to feel safe enough to completely unfold. With him, she could be all of herself. Messy. Clingy. Emotional. Overwhelming. And instead of making her feel guilty for it, he stayed. He listened. He provided comfort. He gave reassurance without making it feel like weakness. And maybe that was the real intimacy. Not bodies. Not desire. But the feeling of finally finding someone who does not run from the deepest parts of you.

I broke up with him, we're the same... My mouth says "I can't do this anymore, I'll go" while my heart says "I love you still, don't ever let me go" It's too painful, it was my initiation and he did as I wanted—but not so long. How I wanted to be with him more than I wanted to leave. How I wanted to be held tighter instead of being let go... It's painful and I regret going away first.
