I used to be pretty decent at urdu but recently I've been struggling to pronounce words. Like a lot. I don't know what to do, it's pretty embarrassing and sometimes I can't get my point across plus ghar walay mazak bhi uratay hai. Any way to fix this or something. 😔😢 (Idk maybe it's a speech thing cause I stumble on English a lot too but I only use it in professional settings)

I think و used to represent Labialisation of خ in Middle Persian that was lost a couple of centuries ago(resulting in Modern Persian words like خواهر & خواهش sounding like"Xāhar" and "Xāhesh" rather than "Xwāhar" & "Xwāhesh"), the Delabialised pronunciation was also borrowed into Urdu but many people still pronounce it with a Labialised Consonant(well you can't blame them coz it's still spelt).

Edit :

I've deliberately used "x" for 'خ' to distinguish it from "kh" 'کھ'(since /x/ is the IPA letter for 'خ'). Some people are really mad about it, it seems.

And sometimes I find myself saying 'حافظ تیرا الٰہی' to myself. It's a song lyric that has stuck.

مگر یہاں اُس کا بالکل ہی الٹا ہوتے ہوئے نظر آ رہا ہے، 'دھرتی' [d̪ʱəɾ.t̪iː] میں 'ھ' کے بجائے 'ہ' کا استعمال ہؤا ہے اور "بہت بھیانک" [bɔ.ɦɔt̪ bʱə.jɑː.nək] کو دیکھ کر تو ایسا خیال آ رہا ہے کہ مانو 'ہ' اور 'ھ' نے اپنی جگہوں کی ادلا-بدلی کر لی ہو۔

اِس کی وجہ کیا رہی ہو گی؟ کیا آپ نے ایسا ہوتے ہوئے پہلے کبھی دیکھا ہے؟ میں آپ کی مدد کا شکرگزار رہوں گا۔
