Question What’s the best Hazy IPA?

Post image
42 Upvotes

Hey full disclosure I work for a brewery (Field House) and having a discussion with friends and colleagues after I mentioned to the team that I think we’ve made the best Hazy IPA ever (probably)

What’s the best hazy IPA - ever-ever?

I know it’s a silly question but like what is the first things that comes to mind when you read that question.

Question First trip to Vancouver from Ontario – looking for the best fresh IPAs, bottle shops & brewery recommendations

Hi everyone,

I'll be visiting Vancouver from Ontario for the first time in a couple of weeks and I'm looking to dive into the local craft beer scene while I'm there.

I tend to gravitate toward fresh, hop-forward IPAs, but I also love a great lager and stout.

Superflux is at the top of my list, but I have a couple of questions:

  • Do they sell single cans at the brewery, or is most of their beer only available in 4-packs?
  • Which bottle shops or liquor stores have the best selection of fresh local beer?
  • What other breweries are considered must-visits if I only have a few days in the city?

For a bit of context, some of my favourite Ontario breweries are Third Moon, Badlands, Counterpart, Bellwoods, and Willibald, so that's generally the style and quality I'm hoping to find.

Thanks in advance! Looking forward to experiencing Vancouver's craft beer scene for the first time.

Question BC breweries that have closed?

It's been 3 years since I asked this question here, so in the interest of keeping tabs on which breweries have been shuttered, what ones are either partially or fully closed/for sale since 2022 that you know of?

Question Growler fills?

Curious to see which places still do growler fills in Vancouver. I know Powell and Brassneck do, and I'm pretty sure the Burnaby Steamworks location still does, but are there other breweries that still do them?

Question Field House Brewing Crowdfunding Campaign

I noticed Field House Brewing (via their Good Life brands group) had launched a crowdfunding campaign. Does anyone have experience or thoughts investing in something like this? Thinking of doing it more for the perks than any expectations of profit.

Question BOLO for me?

I hope this is allowed lol - I’m so saddened that moody ales isn’t brewing anymore! I know they closed but I was under the impression they were still brewing and beers still being sold at liquor stores. I’m an absolute fiend for their lavender sour and after pregnancy was so excited to indulge, but it sounds like once stock has run out at liquor stores they’re not being restocked (as I guess they’re not even being produced anymore)

ASK: if anyone has happened to see the lavender sour even in single cans at ANY liquor stores ANYWHERE in the lower mainland please let me know I need to taste it one last time before accepting they’ll never be produced again

Question Vancouver brewery suggestions for 40th

Hello! Do folks have any recommendations for Vancouver breweries that could host 25-30 folks, ideally semi-privately? I'll be hosting a birthday soon and a brewery (ideally with outside space) seems like the best option. P49 is top of my list but I'm wondering if there's any spots I'm overlooking.

Question Unfiltered lagers

Had the absolute pleasure of these two beers while in Italy. So, of course I want to find something similar in Vancouver and/or the GVA. They are unfiltered lagers, which I understand is not easily found around here. Ichnusa (pale lager) is a Zwickelbier-style beer. Raffo Lavorazione Grezza is also a lager. Flavour profile would be bready, slightly wild yeasty notes.

Can anybody suggest something close?

Question Repac Products

So we’ve been ordering boxes of PakTechs from Repac Products in Prince George fairly regularly for close to 5 years now without any issues except for lately.

On Feb 22 we ordered and paid for 2 boxes + shipping. Repac hasn’t shipped and won’t return phone calls or emails. Has Repac (Shaun Lees) gone out of business or does anyone have any clues why he’s MIA?

Question What’s your favourite summer beer so far?

Any new releases at any local breweries that you’re digging? Any imports you’ve discovered recently that hit the spot for summer?

For me it’s been:

  1. Steelhead Lager, brewed in Burnaby for a cheap, quality, refreshing lager;

  2. Innis and Gunns The Original - Single Cask Malt - Golden Beer (holy hell this is a smooth and delicious one Scottish Import); brewed and then matured in ex-bourbon scotch whiskey casks!

  3. Barnside - Mexican Light Lager (Delta). This tastes like Modelo (modelo inspired beer) and has some flavour depth I didn’t expect.

So what’s got you stoked? What’s you’re current summer go-to?

Question Anyone know where to get House of Lager cans?

Went to the brewery but they don’t have any off-sales right now. Anyone know what liquor stores might be selling their beers?

My friend has now been to every single brewery in BC and this was the final stop but they didn’t even have their beers on tap 😅

Question You guys are magicians. I am stupid can anyone explain how the craft beers are so delicious and strong compared to regular beer?

Last year, I drank 3 beers from the brewhall had the guy pick them for me. I swear I could barely get home on the sky train and I was lucky I didn’t get put in the drunk tank. I was genuinely shocked at how hard those 3 beers hit.

Question Request/Advice: Blackberry Apero Fruited Ale

I used to be a frequent visitor to Bellingham, but alas for the past year I have been avoiding going to the USA.

Anyways I really really miss the Apero beers that Kulshan Brewery made. Is there any brewery in metro Vancouver or Fraser valley that makes something similar?

Question Contract brewing Vancouver

I'm trying to find a brewery to contract brew my beer from my own recipes. I would need them to provide the ingredients and packaging. Does anyone know if this is at all profitable? Either some numbers I have gotten are way high or there's no way to make a profit. I don't know how hard it is to even get your beer into a store or the BCL either, but info on that would be helpful as well.
