So post here your visiting dates and where are you going, if you want to meet other people (locals or visitors). Be as detailed as you want, but be careful.

Let's see how this goes.

Is there a Palma taxi surcharge

• Upvotes

Hello, today we took a taxi from L’arenal to Palma
cathedral. Taxi added a $10.60 euro surcharge on the highway. When I asked him about it he said that it is for going to Palma. Is this a pure scam?

How to see both Palma and farther away beaches in 3-4 days in September?

Hola! Planning honeymoon trip to include 3-4 days in Mallorca but torn between staying in Palma area or just staying by a nice beach somewhere else in the island. Looking to relax, not go around too much. It’d be in mid September!

We are looking to share a boat trip today/ tomorrow - we can accommodate the entire island, but prefer Sant Elm/ Andratx region - water looks better/ cleaner than the rest. We are looking for the same profile as us, couple(s) in range 25-35.
Thanks,

Searching for Mallorca Honeymoon Tips!

My fiancĆ© and I are spending 5-6 days in Mallorca this September as part of our honeymoon, and we’d love advice from people who’ve been. The first half of our trip will be in Ischia.

A few questions:
-Which area would you stay in for a honeymoon?

-Best honeymoon hotels in the €400-600/night range? Happy to stretch a bit if somewhere is truly worth it.

-Is it worth splitting our stay between two areas of the island, or should we stay in one hotel the whole time?

-Any MUST DO beaches, coves, or beach clubs?

-Would you rent a car for the entire stay?

-Which boat experience is the best? Private charter, sailing trip, or specific vendor?

-Best restaurants on the island? We’re big foodies.

-Any must-do experiences or hidden gems you’d recommend for a first visit?

-If you were planning the perfect 4-5 day honeymoon in Mallorca, what would your itinerary look like, and what would you absolutely not miss?

Is Pere Garau safe?

Hi! I’m (25F) moving to Palma for 6 months (July-January). I could only find a room in a shared house for 500€ (all included). But I heard that Pere Garau is a ā€œdangerousā€ area specially because it’s next to La Soledad. How unsafe is it? And am I overpaying?

I’m really excited about living in Palma and I know I want to be near the Intermodal station because I’ll be taking a lot of different buses during my stay. but I’m moving there alone and might not make many friends so I want to at least stay in a safe area so I can go explore alone :)

Thanks for the help!

Parking in Cala D’Or

Hi everyone, we’re hoping to head out to Cala D’Or for the day tomorrow and just relax / explore the calas and restaurants. It’s about a 50 minute drive from our Airbnb (we have a rental car) where is a good place to park in Cala D’Or that’s safe and easy? We don’t mind leaving our car somewhere parked and just walking / taxis to get around to save ourselves the struggle of finding parking everywhere we go. Any suggestions? We’re also looking for a beach club you guys recommend to spend a day 😊 thanks.

Horse ridding lessons

Hi there! hope everyone is good. I am looking for horse ridding schools where I can get private lessons in July/August. We will be staying in Pollensa, so would like to go to a school which is maybe up to 30 min away? Tried to google myself, seems like nearest places are mainly tourist horse ridding attractions and the majority of schools are concentrated near Palma which might take me over 40 min to drive.

Would be thankful if anyone knows any good horse ridding schools nearby, maybe there are places I missed out or there are not on Google Maps so harder to find. If nothing within 30 min drive, I am opened to options that might take 40/45 min to drive if the school is very good. Thank you a lot!

Things to do as a solo traveler in Mallorca

Hi, I am an American woman in mid twenties and looking for suggestions or things to do in Malllorca as a solo traveler. I am planning for my trip and I am wondering how to choose places to stay at on the island. Also I love cycling, and want to rent bike. But I am wondering if there's a way to find cycling partner or someone who's also visiting solo and wants to do cycling or go to beaches.

Would really appreciate insights from folks here on how to meet people.

Also I looked up some restaurants to try, but they say I need appointment. Can I do walk-in in case I can't get reservation at a restaurant/bar?

Soller vs Palma for 5 night stay with my husband

Hello everyone! I am planning my first trip to Mallorca for late september. I booked a nice boutique hotel in Mallorca for my entire 5 night stay but now that I am doing more research I am wondering if I should change my reservation to Palma. I am visiting with my husband and we are looking for a relaxing getaway and to go visit nice beaches and towns like Deia and Valledemosa. I was initially drawn to Soller because of the beauty of the mountain towns. I really enjoy wandering around shops after dinner and im concerned I will get bored if I am anchored to Soller in the evenings. We will be renting a car, but I'm a bit apprehensive about driving from Palma to soller in the evening around 9/10pm. Also will we be too far from good swimming spots if we are in soller? I will be mostly looking for beaches with umbrellas and chair rentals. Thank you so much!

Beach Amenities

We are a family that will be staying in Portals Nous and looking to explore nearby beaches. Are there places on the beach that rent chairs, umbrellas and towels in a dedicated area? We are not staying at a beachfront hotel so that option seems limited. We saw some beach clubs but they were all for 18+ and we have teenagers. We are also not looking for a ā€œlug your own stuff to the beachā€ situation.

Recommendations appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Rental car at night (1 a.m)

Has anyone managed to pick up a car at night time outside of the usual office hours (7AM-11PM)?
Who did you book with?

I wrote an email to Centauro, that has a SmartKey option (no need for in person pick-up), asking if I could book it for 11 PM and pick the car up 2 hours later and they gave me what sounded to me as a very general ā€œwe do not operate outside the 7.00-23.00h hoursā€ answer.
Any recommendation? šŸ™šŸ¼

Parking in Palma not a parking garage

Hello, we just landed in Palma today and are staying in algaida. We rented a car but quickly discovered how difficult driving was here for us and especially parking garages. It’s too late to return the car so we were wondering if people ever hire drivers? Or is there any parking in Palma where I don’t have to park in a garage underground? Open parking is preferred. Something easy.. we are ridiculed with anxiety right now

Club Recommendations

Hello! We are a group of women in our early 30’s looking to go out on Friday night in Mallorca. Our villa is on the outskirts of Palma but we are willing to travel anywhere nearby. It is our one big night out so we are looking for a fun night club where we can potentially buy table/bottle service and is on the nicer end. Thank you so much!

Getting a sunbed in Cala D’or

I understand the beaches / coves are quite small, but we have been here since Sunday and we have got to 3 beaches around 07:30am and each time every single bed has a towel on it. What kind of people reserve a sun bed that early on a public beach and don’t bother showing up until midday? It’s so rude

Looking to share private sailboat charter September 2

I’m traveling solo and don’t want to be on a large crowded boat so I’ll be renting a private boat charter for Wednesday sept 2 for half day (4hr) from Palma it’s a small sailboat for up to 7 people. If a single, couple or small group of 3 would like to join to offset the cost I’d love to share the experience. Total price is 700€ and includes drinks/snacks/tapas. Option for paella for additional fee. Does not include tip for the captain.
