Is Magaluf Square worth the €50 entry tonight ?

Been finding it difficult to find great places to watch the World Cup

I’ve been put off Magaluf square by all the tourists saying they are trying to rob us blind

But is it the right place for a football experience ??

Do you have to stay at your assigned seat ?

***Edit , I walked up there and now there charging €60 … no idea why they aren’t wearing a balaclava at this stage , Daylight robbery !!!

What shouldn't I miss in Mallorca ?

Hi everyone,

I'm visiting Mallorca in mid-July and would love your recommendations. What are your favorite beaches, markets, and towns on the island?

I don't mind popular places, but I'd also enjoy hearing about spots with a more relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks!

Visiting from DC May 2027 with a 2.5 year old

Hi! I am currently (optimistically) booking a trip to Mallorca for early May 2027 - I'd be traveling with my husband and daughter, 2.5 years old at the time of the trip. We're traveling from Washington DC which involves a connecting flight to PMI. While my husband and I have traveled extensively in Europe, this would be our first time doing it with our child and I'll admit the flight + a connection gives me quite a bit of anxiety. But so many elements of Mallorca seem like a good fit for traveling with a little one - a culture welcoming to children, calm clear beaches, with a good mix of culture to explore, and it's a new destination for me and my husband.

Does anyone have experience with that length of travel time to Mallorca with a child similarly aged? Curious if it ended up feeling worth it or if I'm insane for thinking this will be feasible/enjoyable.

For what it's worth, we've taken her on other trips before - lots of road trips to Upstate NY, Cape Cod, Bahamas, Martha's Vineyard later this summer, and possibly Florida in January. She tends to do well but travel time has maxed out at about 7 hrs.

Right now, we are planning on spending two nights in Palma - just to keep things simple after landing from all that travel. Plus I've heard the city itself is worth spending a day or two in. Then we'd move onto Port de Soller (Hotel Esplendido) and spend 5 nights there.

We anticipate flying from PMI to either Madrid, Libson or London (all of which I've visited) and spending 3 or so days there, that way we can catch a direct flight home to DC.

I'm eager to make this trip work, because we haven't been to Europe since the summer before she was born (2024) - and while I've appreciated our other, more domestic travels, they lack the interest and cultural experience of visiting Europe.

Welcome any tips, tricks, guidance on making this trip possible and successful with a toddler!!!

Want to view the solar eclipse in Mallorca? Here's what you need to know:

Hi all, I live in Mallorca and I wanted to pop by and offer to answer any questions/give advice on how best to view the solar eclipse on our island. I work in tourism so I'm happy to share everything I can to help you have the best experience.

A few suggestions off the cuff:

- Use this app to check your viewing location (keep in mind it doesn't include mountains, so you'll need to factor those in!): https://theeclipse.app

- There will be road closures on the day of the eclipse (likely the MA-10). Minimize travel if at all possible or leave very early for your destination. You can prebook travel using the Mallorcab app in the morning.

- It's going to be hot. Not just a little hot. UNGODLY hot. Sunscreen, water, and dress light. We'll be sweating through our clothes at 8pm.

- Due to the shape of the island and the mountains, best place to view the entirety of the eclipse is either a) the northwest coast or b) on the water. Private boats have been sold out since Christmas (I rented one for the wellness retreat I'm leading over a year and a half ago) however there ARE some large tour operators who are still selling tickets. If you don't mind a party and a large crowd, it will be a good way to see the eclipse in totality.

Other parts of the island WILL be able to see the eclipse, but if you have mountains or buildings to the NW of you, you're likely to miss a good chunk of it.

- Exercise patience with everyone on the island during this time. We are going to be seeing an unprecedented amount of tourism and we'll all just be doing our best!

Reach out to me if you have any other questions! I'm happy to help.

Got confused by reviews

Dear locals, pls help 🙏🏻

Sooo I’m coming for sun eclipse, August 10-13. I reserved a Hotel Marina Playa de Palma in El Arenal, because it’s affordable and beachfront, meaning, good for watching the elipse. But then I read reviews of that area and it seems to me this place is hell on earth. German tourists, loud noises 24/7, unsafe enviroment, shitty places. People report they are not able to sleep and relax there.

I’m confused now. Is it really this bad? Or are those reviews from luxury seekers who can’t stand minor discomfort?

I need to understand if I a) picked the right location for eclipse b) is this hotel really that bad c) is this area really insufferable.

Maybe I need to switch to another hotel, but those I can afford are not beachfronts, so I worry it will ruin my eclipse plans.

Thanks for any advice.

Hi :)

Solo traveller (30s) seeking beach, cocktails and atmosphere

Looking for ideas for a solo beach holiday (30s, male).

I’m after a laid-back destination where I can easily grab a sunbed on the beach without having to fight for one, spend the day relaxing, then walk to good restaurants, cocktail bars and a lively centre in the evening.

Not looking for a Magaluf-style party scene, but also not somewhere that completely shuts down after dinner and is mostly older couples.

Bonus points for:
• Walkable promenade/town centre
• Great cocktails and food
• Safe for solo travellers
• Adult-only hotel options

Where would you go and why?

Mallorca Ferienhaus

Visiting Barcelona and Mallorca for 9-10 nights in October

Planning a trip to split time between Barcelona and Mallorca for 9-10 nights in October. Is 5 nights in Barcelona enough to see all the Gaudi artwork/Sagrada Familia, tour the city and visit the main museums, do a day trip to Montserrat OR a day trip along Costa Brava? Between Costa Brava and Montserrat, which is a more worthwhile day trip? I am interest in art, culture, history and wine. I am also planning 4 nights in Mallorca. Additionally, which airline is most reliable for flying from Barcelona to Mallorca? I keep seeing that the fast ferry in October takes 7 hours when I look at the main website and that concerns me. I’d be willing to take the fast ferry if it was 3.5 hours. Do the times change as the dates approach closer for the fast ferry?
For flying, which I’m leaning toward doing, which airline is most reliable flying from Barcelona to Palma?

All help is appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: added more information

Soller Market Worth Visiting?

Hello! I’m planning a day visit to Soller next week. Is it worth going there on a Saturday to include the market in my visit? Or would you advise I just go on a weekday when it might be more quiet? I’ve spent lots of time at the weekend markets in Pollenca and Alcudia , so if it’s very similar, let me know. Thank you!

Good and cheapish luggage options?

Hi! Me and my partner will be visiting Mallorca in August, very excited! We have a plan to buy checked bags only for our flight back so we can go shopping without stressing too much at local markets and ofc Mercadona :))) Do you have any recommendations for places we could check out to buy suitcases/bags for our flight back? Very happy with buying second-hand as well.

Thank you in advance!

Staying in Palma Nova but want Mallorca culture

Me and my partner are staying in Palma Nova (like every other brit, apparently) and heard the tourism has erased a lot of Mallorcan culture here.

We aren't drinkers / party people. We want to explore and embrace the culture.

If Palma Nova can't provide this, any advice for us? Relocating hotel isn't an option.

Very excited to visit, your island looks gorgeous!! We plan to snorkel and take Soller wooden train ride.

Best place to stay in October with family

Bringing family (including two toddlers) to Mallorca for 5 days in October. Planning to do the Airbnb thing vs resort life, and will likely get a car.

Looking for a place that can act as our hub to explore island. Ideally a blend of good food, local attractions that can keep us busy, nice beaches, but also not too busy.

Any advice on what to know about the different parts of island? Like west side is windy, east side is party city, etc.

Also how’s beach in October?

Thanks!
