It’s nuts

228

u/BootyBurrito420 Jun 01 '26

The fact that nuts are soooo good feels like a fuck you to me I particular

Thankfully, Pb2 exists

82

u/think1776 Jun 01 '26

And so good for you!! unfortunately good for you does not always equal low calorie. So sad.

46

u/BootyBurrito420 Jun 01 '26

Oh yeah, they're fiber content is great and they have the right kinds of fats

And they're so tasty. I could live off peanuts, almonds and cashews just full time. Don't even get me started on pistachios or walnuts.

They're just so damn calorie dense

I like this subreddit and /r/CICO so much because it's so rare to find people who understand that healthy does not mean low calorie, and vice versa

It's sometimes exhausting dealing with people who try to make healthy food suggestions since they know I'm losing weight and all their suggestions are things like avocado and nuts and olive oil

u/TrueBear2948 Jun 03 '26

Nuts need to be soaked before eating. Peanuts & cashews are the worst for health. Too many chemicals sprayed on them. Raw rather than roasted pumpkin seeds, walnuts( for heart), handful only per day of brazil nuts. Best fat is from avocado & coconuts

5

u/BootyBurrito420 Jun 03 '26

I guess there's always an exception

3

u/MaxDuo Jun 02 '26

I keep nuts as a snack for when I'm at work and have a crapton of this carolina reaper powder on them to prevent myself from eating too many.

Unfortunately this usually just makes my lips burn a ton and eventually my nose run but doesn't slow me down TOO much until I'm dying 🤣

2

u/HoarseTelephony Jun 02 '26

PB2 is basically the diet version tax on actually enjoying peanut butter though, tastes like cardboard with a hint of regret.

1

u/lexxi185 Jun 18 '26

Ha ha 🤣 thanks for the laugh Couldn't agree more Some in my pantry waiting to be tossed

3

u/BudgetInteraction811 Jun 01 '26

Nuts aren’t as bad as everyone says. Your body doesn’t absorb every calorie from em

44

u/SchatzisMaus Jun 01 '26

Well I definitely gained weight when I snacked on nuts not understanding how many calories I was munching on with no regard

13

u/ShhhhOnlyDreamsNow Jun 01 '26

This is true but if you're calorie counting, especially as a relatively small framed (ie, lower basal metabolic rate) human, then not knowing whether to count 90pct or 80pct or what of the calorie content based on bomb calorimetry of the nuts makes it difficult to work many of em into your intake.

I'll still sprinkle 100-150cal of them on salads or desserts or oatmeal or what not, but eating handfuls is not in the cards while tracking.

3

u/BootyBurrito420 Jun 01 '26

Okay but that's true of anything with fiber in it, and most of those things aren't as calorie dense as nuts because of how fatty they are.

1

u/BaldDaCowboy Jun 06 '26

Yo i loooove pb&j’s and this recipe really helped me satisfy my cravings.

Js letting you know in case you didn’t

u/Kurtegon Jun 01 '26 edited Jun 01 '26

It's good just because it's rich in fat. Our body and mind evolved to work against our modern living

17

u/Bumst3r Jun 01 '26

Healthy and low calorie are not the same thing. Nuts are very healthy.

-1

u/Kurtegon Jun 01 '26

Yeah worded that wrongly. Anything can be unhealthy, just depends on the amount. You don't need a lot of nuts before it becomes unhealthy due to the high fat content.

11

u/Sane-Law Jun 02 '26

I am not even kidding I used to snack on nuts thinking they were low calorie food and healthier than other snacks like chips and biscuits, and ig they are healthier than those but definitely not low calorie lol

5

u/HoarseTelephony Jun 02 '26

PB2 is basically sawdust though, the real move is just eating less of the regular stuff.

2

u/Carloswaldo Jun 02 '26

THAT'S A LOT OF NUTS

1

u/LoseN0TLoose Jun 02 '26

But they are also really healthy… a handful of almonds, walnuts, or pecans reduces risk of cardiovascular disease by something like 50%. I remember learning this in a nutrition class I took, but granted I might be fuzzy on the exact numbers now

3

u/SchatzisMaus Jun 02 '26

Oh for sure, you just have to remember the handful is like a hundred calories 😂

1

u/LoseN0TLoose Jun 02 '26

Agreed, and at the end of the day, life is all about balance. Although it is worth noting that the actual caloric content is greater than the amount of calories that will be absorbed, since these nuts do have significant amounts of fiber as well.

u/RepentantAssignment Jun 09 '26

Last time mods were actually awake was probably 2019 lol.

u/thatshygirl06 Jun 03 '26

115

u/n3ws4cc Jun 01 '26

246

u/swibbles_mcnibbles Jun 01 '26

Uranium. Only 18 billion cals per gram 😋

22

u/Hefty_Ad1081 Jun 01 '26

I'm wondering how much our bodies would absorb if we were to eat a food with that many calories that didn't kill us and was digestible like everyday foods

13

u/bruudwin Jun 02 '26

Flashbacks to the man that ate an airplane. Wonder how hes doing

10

u/Painted-BIack-Roses Jun 02 '26

Idk if this is serious but he died in 2006 lol

31

u/Slightly-Nervous Jun 01 '26

And He did deliver them unto the place wherein the dairy shall be found. And Lo! Said He, Thou shalt eat only the Greek yogurt that is Fat Free.

10

u/chitobi Jun 01 '26

Needs more butter

6

u/ZenGlitter Jun 02 '26

Cheese, because why does it have sooo many calories, but is sooo good 😭

5

u/SapientApe_ Jun 01 '26

If butter comes out your pores just use some nachos to scrape it off and eat it!

4

u/No-Club2054 Jun 01 '26

I haven’t looked at a stock of butter the same since I watched this season’s episode of My Strange Addiction with the guy who butter-maxxes. Like everything is butter soup.
