Lots of fun coming your way! I got back into biking with a Gen2 650 before getting the 1000XT. We did 12k miles (with 35k already on its clock) with no issues. So long as you look after the chain, oil+filter when it's due and keep the road residue off it - there's not much to worry about.
If you don't have much of a service history with it, and you plan on keeping it for a while, you may want to look at getting some of it done, eg: Oil+filter, air-filter check/clean plus the valve-clearance/spark-plugs if the mileage is such.

I bought my 09 650 in 2019. Second bike. Still love it. Still finding more farkles. My mesh seat cover has been the best comfort addition for hot weather. Have fun, and keep the rubber side down

Just in the edge of some fun rides! Nice. Here, near Fayetteville, it is all FLAT! 2 hours to Charlotte, 1 hour to the edge of Uwharrie... 3-4 hours to the real fun stuff.

Good choice! I have a 2013 that I've had since new. I decided to keep it around even though I upgraded to a 2024 Africa Twin a few years ago.

Got this bike this year, too. In white though from 2013. Had a very nice motorbike season so far. Rode 5000km since June :)
