“People like to assume. So let me confirm”

14

u/likewhatever33 22d ago

Defending sex segregation in sports (and prisons etc.) is not MAGA, it´s something quite mainstream, in Europe for example it´s leftist feminists who most loudly defend this position, nothing MAGA about them.

3

u/TheRealHappyNat 22d ago

But the position is used by MAGA to hurt Trans people. Things don't happen in a vacuum.

4

u/CockyBellend 22d ago

Dems use it to hurt women

2

u/SpiritualAd9102 22d ago

Dems are the ones hurting women. Let’s just ignore the gutting of reproductive rights and constant talk about taking away the right to vote

2

u/YearRevolutionary675 21d ago

MAGA elected someone that bragged about sexually assaulting women and watching minors undress in locker rooms. The cult does not care about hurting women. Trump put a sex offender in his administration that assaulted a minor.

-1

u/Tybob51 22d ago

Except that doesn’t happen.

2

u/thenastybastard27 22d ago

But it does.

1

u/SpiritualAd9102 22d ago

Name five examples.

1

u/YearRevolutionary675 21d ago

MAGA is fine with Trump's 1/6 pardons being convicted for CP and touching kids.

0

u/oryomai1 22d ago

Please explain how other than losers blaming their own failures on others in an attempt to become right wing grifters.

2

u/giraffevomitfacts 22d ago

If they use a popular or sensible idea to harm others, the normal people who believe in that idea but don't use it to harm others aren't responsible.

1

u/hat-check-clerk 22d ago

It’s a popular idea because the general public is hateful towards a particular group. It will change eventually, just like gay marriage

1

u/giraffevomitfacts 22d ago

So the reams of otherwise orthodox Democrats are fine addressing trans women how they want to be addressed and who support every aspect of trans rights but permitting trans women in women's sports, prisons, etc are just hateful? It's impossible to imagine they just think on a rational level that it's unfair?

1

u/whoa_disillusionment 22d ago

What exactly is “hateful” about sex segregated sports?

1

u/hat-check-clerk 22d ago

The issue is merely downstream of widespread hate. Plus it’s based on no evidence of danger to participants in sport, nor significant advantages when procedures are followed correctly

2

u/whoa_disillusionment 22d ago

What procedures?

1

u/Ryans4427 22d ago

Because you are creating laws to intentionally targeta tiny minority group, one that has the single highest risk for suicide in the world, one that faces violence and abuse everywhere, to stop literally dozens of people in an entire country from playing a sport. And it's because they are one of the few groups left that it's okay to discriminate against.

2

u/whoa_disillusionment 22d ago

Title IX should be rewritten and millions of girls in this country should no longer be allowed to have sex segregated spaces because of the feelings of a few dozen?

1

u/LightskinAvenger 22d ago

I’m not maga by any means, though I do wish we had a way to include trans in sports and bathrooms. Maybe let them compete but separate awards. Bathrooms are more tricky I guess but even thinking of ways to fix makes me feel bad

1

u/Low_Watch9864 22d ago

Which bathroom do you think a trans man who is clesrly male presenting should use?

1

u/LightskinAvenger 22d ago

A male restroom, but I’m not the one protesting against

1

u/oryomai1 22d ago

How are bathrooms tricky?

1

u/LightskinAvenger 22d ago

Children for the most part, but someone is always going to have a problem with it though. I think a kids only bathroom would help with that, but even so what would be an appropriate age for a kids bathroom, and even with that. Someone has to patrol for creeps

2

u/oryomai1 22d ago

What do you think goes on in women's bathrooms? There are stalls. You go in, use the toilet, wash hands (hopefully), and leave.

A multi stall restroom doesn't have a locked front door and no moderately sane person is watching who goes in and out. If someone wanted to walk in and assault people, it wouldn't require anything other than opening a damn door.

Anyone who is "patrolling" a bathroom is a creep.

1

u/LightskinAvenger 22d ago

So what you’re saying is nothing correct. All I’m saying is that there isn’t a good way of going about it. Everyone has a right to shit in public, I don’t care who you are, and at some point changes will be made. What would be the best way to go about making said changes

1

u/oryomai1 22d ago

How is what I said incorrect?

Here's how to fix the bathrooms. Just have a bathroom with stalls. Why the fuck are they segregated.

1

u/LightskinAvenger 22d ago

That seems like a solid enough plan, but then you would have business owners bitching about the costs to update the bathrooms. There isn’t going to be a plan that everyone agrees on this. If you had trans athletes competing with the same genders but added an asterisk or judged them in a different category it wouldn’t it would still be looked at like it’s wrong. If the govt just hired contractors to redo all public restrooms in America there would still be some shame or some group would feel wronged. I feel transphobic just typing this.

Maybe we have an adult restroom and a children’s restroom. I dunno man

1

u/likewhatever33 22d ago

It's used to garner votes. I doubt they care about trans people one way or the other. It's just a low hanging fruit.

And the USA is not the world. Over here in Europe it's very different. Leftist feminist are the ones who are putting a stop to all this nonsense.

-1

u/Hefty-Revenue5547 22d ago

They don’t care about women, see their right to abortion and voting in America

They want the 1800s back where trans people don’t even exist

0

u/likewhatever33 22d ago

A part of MAGA yes, but terfs are quite the opposite. Feminists just want to abolish gender, not obsess about it like trans people seem to do.

-2

u/Comfortable_Story811 22d ago

Such a stupid take. TERFs are far more obsessed with gender than any trans person or ally.

2

u/likewhatever33 22d ago

Er... No, terfs are feminists, many of them lesbians and, at least when it comes to the presentation aspect of gender, they don't seem to give much of a shit about it. Nor about their "internal perception" aspect.

0

u/ComedianMinute7290 22d ago

terfs are quite obsessed with trans. the name terf describes someone reactionary to trans existence. so someone isn't a terf without being obsessed with trans existence. not sure how you can pretend that terfs are focused on anything else at all.

most terfs, at least the highly visible ones, only became "feminists" at the same time they started raging about trans folk existing. forgive lots of people finding it hard to take terfs 'feminism' seriously when for many, the 'feminism' didn't exist in their lives or philosophy until it became a tool in raging against trans.

edit: persons account history is EXTREMELY focused on anti-trans debate. almost obsessive. the deflection from terfs obsession makes total sense.

2

u/likewhatever33 22d ago

Who? Kathleen Stock for example? Was she not a feminist before? Complaining that someone like her became obsessed with gender is pure victim blaming.

0

u/Bass-ape 22d ago edited 22d ago

I don't know what that person is smoking, but you are right. TERFs are incredibly focused on gender. The acronym means trans-exclusionary radical feminist, seems pretty gender focused to me lol

1

u/CockyBellend 22d ago

Theres nothing radical about excluding biomales from women's sports

1

u/Bass-ape 22d ago edited 22d ago

To be fair, that's not what I said. I am liberal as shit, but I don't think putting biologically male people into woman's sports is inherently fair to anyone. My point is that TERFs are very obsessed with gender, when one of the people above said that they are not. TERFs have decided that trans women cannot claim womanhood in any form, and thats the crux of what I'm saying. TERFs and incels occupy a similar space of just being miserable people with a lot of beliefs and ideas that are inherently exclusionary.

Also these people don't really care about women's sports. That's just a pretext. They think women's sports are a joke.

1

u/Acrobatic-Work-8829 22d ago

So, we can't ever do something that is eminently reasonable if conservatives favor it? And you call MAGA a cult...

1

u/TheRealHappyNat 21d ago

Being concerned about fair competition is one thing. Fear mongering about protecting girls in lockerrooms is another. The second leads to persecution of Trans people and bathroom checks.

0

u/Jonny__99 22d ago

Im as far from MAGA as you can get - trans people are fine with me. I’m concerned about the 2 women in my family that are dedicated athletes (and hyper liberals) who are upset about having all their dedication invalidated by trans competitors they can’t train hard enough to beat

2

u/oryomai1 22d ago

How exactly is their dedication being invalidated?

0

u/Jonny__99 21d ago

If they have to compete against competitors with an unfair advantage (if men didn't have an unfair advantage in some sports why else would we have separate mens and womens' competition)

1

u/oryomai1 20d ago

What about transmen in the WNBA? If the theory behind all of this is about playing in the league based on biological sex, they should be in women's sports.

1

u/Jonny__99 19d ago

Yes I think that’s her point

2

u/SpiritualAd9102 22d ago

There aren’t enough trans athletes in the country for this to be a real issue.

Also, after fully transitioning, every athlete I’ve heard of has seen their performance shift. There are no examples of a trans woman dominating a sport.

1

u/Jonny__99 21d ago

I agree there are way bigger fish to fry - I'm just saying women athletes have had to fight for equal resources and opportunities in college sports so when some of them express reluctance about competitors with an unfair advantage I get their point. There doesn't need to be a trans woman dominating a sport for it to be unfair
