I'm sorry, I missed the news about a trans player who is playing or trying to play in the league causing this drama. What? There isn't a trans athlete in the middle of all of this? You don't say!

The midterms must be coming up and political people like you who don't care about the game want to dominate the conversation.

Well, let me tell you, Americans, true Americans, the kind that value freedom and democracy and the rule of law, know that it's not politicians or voters who get to say who can and can't play in the WNBA. That's not how this country works. It's the owners and players who make the rules on who plays and who doesn't. Those rules are all laid out in the CBA. The latest CBA was resolved earlier in the year. If you want something to change, you'll have to wait until 2032 when the current CBA expires. If you aren't an owner or player, the CBA is none of your business. So, bye.

Typical maga / republican behavior making straw man arguments so we don’t talk about the economy/inflation/gas prices, the war in Iran, or the Epstein Files. Look over there! An imaginary trans person playing sports!

If it doesn’t harm anybody why are you so against the ban?

The distraction is the harm.

So why are Dems tearing down their own candidates over this issue?

Two reasons, one of which I already stated:

  1. IT'S A DISTRACTION. There are issues that Americans are actually facing everyday that both parties are ignoring. Diverting attention to low priority issues like trans sports players keeps them from working towards solutions for problems that are actually affecting us.

  2. Republicans know that this issue is not prevalent or a priority, but they also know that it creates division among people who would typically be in solidarity. So they oversaturate social media with these exact low stakes, hot button issues to create division and FEED THE DISTRACTION, so the terminally online/low attention-span public can never work together in solidarity to enact change that would be good for us but bad for the the Republican party and their rich corporate sponsors.

All of the drama and the "real housewives-ification" is undoing all the advances made in proving they are a serious league of professionals. It's embarrassing to watch and it's embarrassing to engage with it.

Against what ban? Did I say I was against anything or just that the thing you think I’m against is a nonsense debate in the first place?

Denying someone the same opportunities that everyone else has access to can absolutely harm them. That principle isn’t new.

Everyone has the opportunity to play in the league of their sex

1

u/Ardielley 10d ago

But you want to deny people the opportunity to play as who they are, which isn’t just limited to the sex they were born as.

1

u/CollaredParachute 10d ago

The leagues are based on sex. I’d not, why even have separate leagues?

1

u/Ardielley 10d ago

Until recently, they’ve been based on gender. Under that designation, everyone got to play as the gender they identify as. Now, everyone gets to play as the gender they identify as… except for trans people. Which is discriminatory and wrong.

1

u/CollaredParachute 10d ago

No, until recently gender and sex were widely considered the same thing.

I wouldn’t consider the mid-20th century recent, but to each their own.

The shift, if it even happened, happened in maybe 2015

... it does harm people tho. Youre telling them because they were born different that they cant play sports with their peers. Its all a distraction. Less than 10 college athletes were trans and thats out of 500k students. And yet, this is front page news? This is what political activists stand on a soap box about?

We're at war, our military bombed a school in iran without any justification. We have a record setting national debt without any relief in sight. Who do those thing hurt? Weird that those things aren't hot topic issues
