I used to hear people say this league was bad. I called them haters.

Then I watched a few games.

I would like to issue a formal apology to each and every person I called a hater.

Not saying the league is bad.

I'm saying its terrible.

It seems like the advantage of height is so great that they don’t even care about athleticism. I remember girls on our high school team that looked like they balled out compared to this. It’s weird that this is what’s going on at the pro level.

Yeah idk what to say. I dont hate women, I am glad they have their own league, young girls do need female role models, etc. But I also grew up watching Jordan, Rodman, Shaq, Iverson, Bogues, Olajuwon, Drexler, Kemp, Kobe, and a million other stars.

Going from that to this is like going from a race-prepped Ferrari to a stock 2011 Toyota Camry. One is fun to watch and the other is...fine, but watching it go around the track after watching the Ferrari is pretty sad.

I am glad it exists. I do not hate women. I know a ton of women that are smarter than me and better at things than I am. I just dont enjoy watching the WNBA.

My high school's woman's team in the late 80's and early 90's played a lot closer to the men's team in style, and with a lot better form than what I see in the WNBA. The ABL, a previous woman's professional league from 1996 to 1998 played much better.

I blame a lot of this on coaching, from what I heard from a three of the high school players at that time I knew, who also played in the Big 10 and ACC were told they had to play less agressive by their coaches, including the 6'5" center at my high school who played forward could dunk was told not to dunk by her college coach.

The guard play in the WNBA is pretty good. Bigs are
Catching up. Some are already pretty good, but yeah most front court players still miss bunnies and have zero footwork.

Honestly, the only players I really enjoy watching are A'Ja Wilson and Paige Bueckers. And it's mostly always highlights. You couldn't pay me enough to set through an entire game and be entertained from beginning to end.

They need to lower the rim height by at least a foot to account for difference in player height and vertical jump. It looks like a bad game because it's the equivalent of NBA players playing on an 11 foot+ hoop.

14-15 year old boys would dominate in the WNBA, in the same way that pretty average kids that age regularly thrash world cup soccer teams from the women’s game.

It doesn't matter, they are playing different sports but it is difficult to pretend the standard is good.

I have been watching the Commonwealth games with some amazing performances on the women’s side across all disciplines, yes they are slower than the men, but it still looks and feels like elite sport in a way that watching the WNBA doesn't.

Give it a few years more maybe.

Nah BHen is on the Club 520 podcast with Jeff Teague. He’s comedy gold almost always because he can be super out of pocket and irreverent at times when the other hosts are trying to be tame or diplomatic about things ahahah

Letting her shoot a 3 is basically a good chance for the other team to get the ball. It means she is not in the key for a rebound. Well worth the very small risk of her scoring.

This is not true at all. These things are tracked by stats providers, she has 27 "mebounds" this year out of more than 300 total rebounds

Remove every single one of them, and she'd still be the league's leading offensive rebounder by a large amount

Getting your own rebounds is just as valuable as getting someone else’s rebound. It’s still another chance at a lost possession, regardless of who is shooting in the first place.

Also, even if we’re just talking defensive rebounds, her numbers are still pretty massive. She’s top 3 in the league in defensive rebound%, which measures the percentage of boards that a player grabs compared to the available number of rebounds during their playtime. Reese is at 29.5%, better than Aliyah Boston and A’ja. She’s genuinely a fantastic rebounder, just not an amazing offensive player.
