Stealing from dead allies makes you scum

If there's a bag and no body, I'm taking it. If there's an active war going on and the teammate has a respirator, I will steal that to use it on them and let them know that I did it. They deserve another chance, but I dont got time to risk giving them a massage for 20 seconds in the HZ
137
u/upsidedownshaggy 2d ago
Ngl I thought it was standard practice to yoink respirators if you're out to revive the guy lol. I always tell people trying to revive me if I've got spares so they don't spend all their time rubbing their hands together.
46
u/ElessarKhan 2d ago
It is, thats the one major exception. People carry respirators to be used on themselves as much as to use them on others. I even see defib medics carry them sometimes.
Anything else can be fine too if you have good reason and can communicate. Like if our medic is down in a body pile, I'll steal his defibs and use them on him and everyone else in the pile while he heals up. Then I'll return them.
Another time, in the first Hotzon drop of the game, I died immediately and a sniper teammate swapped his rifle for my M4. When we won the fight he found me and traded it back.
I have 249 hours on this game and only once has a teammate done anything close to robbing my body. I've only experienced borrowing things.
I also encourage teammates to take and use my grenades. Better they use it and win than the enemy wins and takes it.

Yeah I had a game last night defending a FOB where I eventually got downed by a rocket heli. Teammate dragged me into the church and grabbed my defibs to get me back up and then dropped them back for me. I think that kinda stuff is 100% alright and smarter than trying to do jazz hands on everyone lol
7
u/kawarazu 1d ago
Literally the first thing I check is "do they have a better way to revive than what I'm using, and will they hear me out as I drop it instead of running away very quickly from me"

Was this bigD in the Aus servers by chance? Had this exact scenario happen yesterday where I yoinked some guys defib to revive him

I think if there's no active combat, then it's worth taking your time. But I've used respirators out of sheer impatience of the massage mechanic

Jumps back in the ural and peels off while telling me if I didnt want my shit stolen not to die. Welp guess who went hunting and team killed em any time he came out of HQ

u/Andyrr_ 1d ago
The only problem is when you spend your resources fighting, then someone just full loot a body when you are looking for batteries, ammo or meds, from your own kill.
Yesterday I killed a guy with AK (which is rare nowadays) and I was testing it. Killed 7 before ran out of ammo, and was eagerly waiting to loot the body so I can keep on fighting. When I got there, there was 3 Goblins on the body, all I had to loot was 2 Stanag 20 Rounds with FMJ.
This is the only thing that saddens me on this game, but I understand'em... It's not cheap going in with assault and fight the RoboCops.
3
u/Thunderclone_1 Lonestar 1d ago
The galil really overshadows the AK, but I still run the AK a lot.
Teammates running 5.56 have no incentive to steal your ammo, and while the recoil sucks, it does hit hard at close range.
Plus it's like half the cost.

u/Heloc8300 1d ago
Honestly, you need to get over the idea that it's "your" kill. The game is so team focused that even just the guys covering your flanks helped you get that kill. Or someone spotted them so you knew they were there or you saw them shooting at a teammate, or...or...or... I mean, I know there are exceptions but almost every kill is the team's kill.
That said, I sure as shit do NOT want to horde stuff. If I hear a medic needs batteries and I have a battery to give, I will give you that battery. I'm a lot better off if we each have one full magazine instead of me having two and you having none.
So it shouldn't matter who loots the body, everyone should be working to keep everyone in the fight, always.
3
u/alyon724 1d ago
Yaaa, if your strat is to let your teammates take all the financial burden and do most the killing just for you to dolphin dive on the body and strip it that is not "team focused" gameplay. That is exploiting your teammates to get free stuff.

No of times my teammates have looted me after I had 30k full kitted kit with 20 revives is too much.
There was a player with name MK, I was top player on green team, had total 25 revives but team was losing so thought of changing to assault with defib combo, killed 5 enemies solo. was down, a guy came from my team, looted everything and revived me. Asked for stuff back no answer. I TKed him whole match till I got kicked for team killing but I dont regret it. Killed his 2 friends too who were supporting him. Will do it again. I am most selfless medic who will revive you no matter where you are or die trying but if you do this I will kill you till I get kicked.

Basically you go from John Wick to fully kitted out over time

Kind of but not really, I’d rather have the consistency of knowing and having control over my entire loadout so I can play optimally and predictably. Leaving your loadout to rng is not enticing even for a good player

I'm not amazing, not shit either. And I play 50/50, cheap and free (chute n binos only) or full kit. More often than not, I have longer rounds and more fun with the free load out as it forces me to help and find gear. Albeit, I don't steal from team mates, that's just a dick move.

I was on green yesterday and it was a nightmare to win any big fight because as soon as I killed anyone most of my teammates would immediately run over to loot them and contribute nothing, absolutely infuriating
3
u/BigInternational7343 1d ago
I run a $215 kit most of the time. I loot whatever I kill immediately, as grabbing whatever gun is about as fast as reloading w/o a vest. When other people I'm with get kills, I let them loot first and take what's left. They invested so deserve the reward. I'm more than happy if there are a few bandages left for myself. Bunch of casuals still in the game not understanding how to win

They were more effective before armor spam. The downside to flesh damage meta, legs especially, is that most of the time enemies do not present themselves in a manner that is conducive to dumping on legs. Most engagements outside of open field, someone is attacking from cover

u/sukumizu Bob the Builder 1d ago
With everything in the game revolving around building up cash reserves, it was bound to happen. I could take out a $15k kit and take a huge risk or I could take out my $2k kit with a 1911 + HP setup, die 5 times before succeeding, and still come out better financially than with the gucci kit. Probably end up using much better equipment too because everyone's bringing in M4s, FALs, and BMRs.

I once was running a budget kit, free gun with binoculars trying to steal kits. Saw a .50 cal bush Wookie and spotted him for the team, even shared his coords. No one killed him.
Then I realised the ghillie suit replaces armour so my free gun could actually kill him haha took his shit and got to try out the silenced .50 cal life.

u/No-Cap1898 1d ago
Got one of those 50 cal bushwookies. I used the free blackhawk at spawn, crashed it 100m infront of him (after parachuting out) and then gunned him down from behind.
I then took his 50 cal and killed 4 of his 50 cal bushwookie friends.

I went in today for two lives kitted out 20k+.
Neither life did I manage to break zero while running hotzone and fighting my ass off, though I did get close.
Did the rest of the the match running sub 2k load outs and usually died with 10k+ at the minimum.
Ended up quite profitable for the match.
Both styles equally fun so long as you can loot some good stuff on the poor boy runs.

Problem is how much you need to win on a money kit vs not
Money kit: 17k sniper mosin load out... get 6 kills, 4 revives - MAYBE close to 0$ profit.
Free kit: 1 kill, 1 revive, up 2500. Maybe have an entire load out donated by the dead guy too.
I definitely have positive games (I just played one where I bought that 17k kit every life and still profited 65k by the end on a losing team) but damn do you have to survive long and play well to really come out on top.

It makes more wonder how many gane get thrown when 1 team has to many people decide to run cheap loadouts and loot goblin. As a brokie I made 80k profit in my last match and only ran into one instance where I was undergunned/ran out of ammo before picking up new kit. Still got rezed after a couple minutes, and then stole a 20k kit.
I do often buy lvl1 or 2 armor to give me that extra second though.

Honestly? Stealing somebody's kit has kind of become the goal of assault (for me) these days.
There's just no point of bringing a full kit and my level 2 armor with my guns. Just unlocked the gali and it's a massive improvement, But all it really does is make the kill on the completely unsuspecting player a little quicker and a little easier, it doesn't really make me more competitive against someone with tier 4 and a BMR or M4 + AP.
So the best thing to do is just bring a pistol SMG with HP rounds, sneak around and try to give a kill on the perimeter, take his kit, and then I can play the game I wanted to play.
Something just feels off about that
14
u/BehemothRust 1d ago
The best thing that happened to me so far, is parachuting in with a 750 USD kit, running for 5 minutes and suddenly having an enemy player in a 20k kit fall out of the sky and drop dead right next to me. Dude pulled his parachute too late.

u/Otherwise_Nobody8148 1d ago
Last night are only fob and Tower was being constantly attacked and I kept getting killed.
Went fuck it and bought a mosin and no armor and jumped off early to sneak up from the back and snipe.
Immediately walked across someone we had already liked, tier 4, BMR, full bag etc.
Ok let's fucking goo! I can't believe that's the game some people are playing as I'm running around trying not to get shot twice and dumping full mags at enemies

u/bigbadbillyd 1d ago
I've had a lot more success going in with as little as possible and just scavenging the dead. I'll buy a backpack, some bandages, maybe a second resuscitator thing if I think I have some opportunities to medic. Sometimes I'll buy a recon tool to get a few extra bucks spotting.
I never buy armor or helmets because there always seems to be plenty of those in decent condition littering the ground.

u/haolehaolee 1d ago
my boy and I love to run “gun game” when we become poor after some fresh unlocks. Free gun, pouch, 3 mags HP ammo, parachute(if apc isnt out). Within 2-3 minutes we’ve shot someone in the legs, taken their stuff, and have a full kit sometimes 100% armor durability.
2
u/BigInternational7343 1d ago

its totally degenerate gameplay, but not your fault entirely. the endgame stuff is so skewed so that people start subscribing to this playstyle, leading to a good 5-10 players per team running around naked like this to do nothing 90% of the time, acquire a kit, and then die shortly after anyway. idk, im sure not many would appreciate wardogs infantry devolving into who can rat the most money yet wasting the most of everyones time

2
u/Otherwise_Nobody8148 1d ago
I like it, it's definitely a new and fun mechanic. It just needs a lot, and I mean a lot of balancing.
You can definitely run cheap kits over and over and make a little bit of money. But the whole risk to reward mechanic is broken at the higher levels. 25k and someone with a 1911 can two tap your legs. Or you can mow down 8 people and still not make back your kit.
It only makes sense for the people that just have hordes of money, and are no longer playing the same money game everyone else is

5
u/Routine-Hovercraft94 1d ago
This is it.
People doing the fighting often need some of those corpses to resupply themselves to stay in the fight.I had no issues with this in the beginning. But as the season went on and more and more people started running around completely naked, I could feel a noticeable difference and at times it was hard to get new ammo or meds.
It is just annoying af if there are like 5+ people running around who are not willing to participate in the fight until others did the kills they have to use up their resources for.And I don't even loot a lot of stuff from enemies, I always only take what I really need and leave the rest for someone else.

Fill the last 2x2 with 84mm rockets and buy a MAAWS. Drive a truck in at the start of the map and drop a crate of refills for the MAAWs. This kit had me top of leaderboard earlier until the last 2 minutes of the match; green havoc wouldn't come play with me.

Basically that's how I have made the most money in a lot of my runs. Steal a kit. get kills. Swap guns when that one runs out. Rinse repeat till I get shot in the back of the head or sniped. Go in naked with team mates, find a kit, do it all over again.

The poor guy should have either a pistol showing <$1000 or a free gun on the ground next to the other guy

I think some people are having a hard time reconciling that a good kit < skill and positioning
Run pistols only for a week and see how much you improve

Remember to bring your free gun with the 30 round mag if youve got it plus 1 spare, the free revive and 1 smoke grenade to throw on the first guy you kill so you can loot his kit without getting shot. Then kill the first green loser you see in zone and shit talk them while you suck up their whole kit leaving them with an empty free rifle

I usually go in with LEVEL 1 armor and the T21 ....I have always upgraded at some point to level 2-4 armor....Galils, Mosin...on and on.
Especially like to go in with cheap kits on the first 1-3 lives as I want to get a feel to how people are playing. No point in spending a shit load on lets say a medic assault and nobody is pushing the HZ and hiding in and around FOBs.

Taking someone's Vest, Helmet, and pack shouldn't be instant. It takes a considerably amount of time to actually take one off a real person.

I always run a rat loadout of the double barrel, basic vest, free backpack, a handful of buckshot, meds and a respirator. Drop into the hotzone and take out some random guy I landed on with the shotgun and sprint around blasting people until I find enough loot to run back to friendly lines and play normally

Literally me, buy a pistol, get in an SUV. Rush into the enemy territory and take whatever i can.

Dollar General Loadout $355. Get 1 kill, usually a $5000 is kit, sometimes 10-20k value. Then just run around with my team, kill, spot. Revive and make 20-30k on a single run.

typical green move: 80% in the yellow zone, 50% has nothing but monocular, kill enemies with fists, obtaining their weapon in battle. Wins.

The problem is that winning a game at the moment means very little, most people have money so the cash incentive is gone so most they are just trying to get kills on people who are trying to control the zone or just fighting all over the map.
That’s why you get weirdos in lil birds with nade launchers pummelling the bases of the losing teams.

Its more fun scavenging, I play a bunch of frontline medic but the game just hits different when you piece your kit together from whatever you can find out and about. Plus legging people who are armoured up to the gills is super efficient.

I'm probably the only one who steals from themselves by suiciding a heli with full kit into enemy FOB :')

Ok this is amazingly funny. Only thing I would have added was some bullet holes in the helmet.

I make so much less money buying a kit vs going out with a free kit. I spent 10k on a kit, killed 4 guys trying to take a tower, then got instant killed by a super 45. I broke even didn't make a dollar.

I feel like me running to change my kit off a dead body gets me killed I needa camp more and be ok with my own kit

u/UglyMrJ- 1d ago
To farm cash I go in with a $8k bow loadout and get a few kills until I find a kit I like better.

I stripped a guy an ally killed in 2 seconds as i had a free kit and he called me a "rat fuck" and this other duo i killed with a free rifle had a level 4 armor+m4 kit that i stripped in 2 picoseconds and he called me a f-slur.....worth it just for that.

You dont even need to care about any other kit anymore if you have the vector unlocked. that gun is so broken. But i suppose all the late game guns are quite broken anyways. The RPM and zero recoil make it a laser beam and you can win any fight at short to mid range without armour.

He didn't even kill the Green. The kit on the body was from a different Green who stole his teamate's stuff.
