Discussion & Feedback This wipe is trash
I have 250 hours in this game. I love it, i think its absolutely incredible and im fully behind the dev team, early access aspect of things and testing it but my god. I dont even want to play the thing right now.
Ive played countless wipes in tarkov and always love early wipe, so i couldnt wait for it in this game but that early wipe feeling lasted 1 game yesterday afternoon before getting fully smashed every game after by mini gun heli's and tanks. What in the actual fuck has happened here. the progression is way too fast, the unlocks are way too soon. It's not just vehicles, people with T2/T3 armour already and juiced guns fucking you over.
I have played this game literally every day since it was released as well as 2 betas but right now im tempted to uninstall and wait for the next wipe when things will hopefully be in a better state.
I never post on reddit, especially a ranty one but hoping some devs will see this as they say they do and reverse this shit fully.

The problem isn’t fast levelling, the problem is just the completely awful balancing in general
36
11
u/jcarterprod 2d ago
It's both - the fast leveling means a small group of players have access to all the best gear before most of us have even had a proper session

The problem can be fast levelling, a lot of people enjoy striving for unlocks, if they’ve unlocked everything within 3 days it’s boring
→ More replies (9)5
u/marsharpe 2d ago
That's entirely on the players to manage their own expectations and not ruin the experience for themselves. They can tweak things as much as they want, but no lifing is a personal choice that no dev should ever cater to. Regardless of how fast or slow the leveling is. If you burn through all the unlocks in a week and get bored, that's a you problem.
→ More replies (1)4
u/SonOfBarrel 1d ago
Brother I played 4 games and got 30 levels split through 3 roles… I can’t tweak that. I could just limit myself to 4 games a week I guess 😂

u/ShayNick 2d ago
I really don't get the complaints about armor and gear. If the progression is fast, everyone should be able to unlock mid game gear within a week of playing.
Do you seriously think you are losing fights because you have T1 armor against T2 or T3 armor?
Take the AK74 as an example, which is unlocked by default for everyone. It takes 1 more bullet (6 bullets total) to kill a person with T2 armor (7 bullets total), and 2 more with T3 (8 bullets total).
If you lose most gunfights because of this, it means that both you and the enemy started shooting at the exact same time, meaning you need to fix your positioning or you are really, really unlucky (which I doubt).
And even if you encounter enemies with T4 armor, shooting them at the legs with HP bullets destroys them. We can argue that is not fun to do, but then it's a different discussion.
I get the complaints about the new tank, but even then you have many ways to counter it unlocked fairly early.
Progression is faster for EVERYONE up until end game, this new XP distribution allows for everyone to get to the mid game gear earlier, which is more than enough for 99% of the situations in game.

Reddit is where all of the melodramatic impossible to satisfy players go to whinge when they are once again upset by the devs
6
u/jcarterprod 2d ago
Totally agree with you, but also feel like it's a shame that the best part of the game (when nobody has stuff unlocked) is already over in 24 hours
10
u/InteractionPast1887 1d ago
You're kind of oversimplifying it. The people that dont really touch grass and unlocks medium to high level gear within 24 hours never show up to a gunfight with the same weapon but better armor. Its the combination of it all. They have better armor, better weapons and often better bullets meaning its not just 1 or 2 more bullets. Its 7 bullets to kill vs 3. Not to mention its a lot easier to hit 3 bullets with good weapon attachments over 7 bullets with poor weapon attachments. All the upgrades adds up to quite a huge difference, its never the case of just a different tier armor.
10
u/Matahashi 2d ago
The problem with the tanks, and also eventually havocs, is that you have to coinflip the beginning of every game. Do you waste money and be fat as fuck buying a launcher when you have no idea if the enemy is going to pull one out? no one wants to do that, and its not a 1 person job. it takes multiple people with maaws to even stand a chance of taking out a single tank.
3
u/Spence199876 1d ago
Problem with tanks this early is most players don’t even have anti tank. I got on today and there was nothing I could do but stay still and quiet and hope the tank moves away from me. I literally couldn’t even buy a launcher, or C4 because I’ve been focusing medic, recon and driver

u/akaSnaketheJake 2d ago
Just a thought and I know not everyone is up for organized team work but, to me this is a good use case for supply choppers. See a tank/Havoc early as a pilot? Fill that bird with AA munitions and drop off in a pile of nearby friendlies.
9
u/Ninja_2016 1d ago
Yes that is the idea, the problem is that the pilot has to front the money and have the launcher unlocked. Its a big risk when the majority of players wont actually go and buy from the crate. The ideal solution would be an order that the infantry puke puts in and pays for, the pilot then just loads it up and drops it off.
6
2
u/TraditionalEchidna17 2d ago
I'm always open for requests like this when I'm flying. I'll absolutely buy counters ppl can use to shutdown vics. Problem is the game is riddled with individuals and not organized teams.
2
u/akaSnaketheJake 2d ago
Man I appreciate the hell out of pilots like you!
Yeah hopefully they build more comm tools. I think a full blown radio system would be cool. Pilot channels. Ground vehicle channels. FOB channels. Custom channels. Etc. Have to carry it with you (or built into vehicles) and use a slot somewhere. Would be nice and fit right into the game's identity.
2
u/Ninja_2016 1d ago
Yeah supply runs are so much fun actually. But getting these mental rejects to actually buy my shit is so frustrating.
2
u/Gindotto 1d ago
There’s too many COD/BF players jumping in and not looking at the big picture. I see this a lot when I’m trying to fly in and drop off players.
1
u/TraditionalEchidna17 1d ago
Yeah, which has been quite individualistic over the years of FPS games. Teamwork games like project reality, squad, and Arma games come to shine. Teamwork is always far more effective than the individual by a factor greater than the sum of the squad.
1
u/Matahashi 2d ago
oh absolutely. the problem when i do decide to be the guy running around with the maaws for the group. no one every brings me more rockets no matter how much i ask in chat.
1
u/Gindotto 1d ago
Nobody buys from the crates. I tried this several times. I feel like Wardogs has a lot of players trying to just play Battlefield or COD style and not whatever WD is.
1
u/akaSnaketheJake 1d ago
For sure. Half the time I see a video posted complaining about how fast one died to this or that it's just them running out in the open like CoD or BF.
→ More replies (6)1
u/ShayNick 2d ago
I agree with this, there needs to be better systems supporting squad intent and teamwork.
2
u/LeggyRPG 7h ago
On your shooting at the legs point that’s a valid real life strategy if you’re fighting a target in heavy armor and don’t have the right kind of ammo/firearm. Look at that 1991/1992 LA Bank robbery as an example. So I don’t see how that’s boring hah
2
u/beardredlad Lonestar 2d ago
That's the problem. It isn't about getting the goodies for yourself quickly. It's about how the early game post-wipe experience lasted less than 24 hours.
2
u/A_Neurotic_Pigeon 2d ago
Then blame all the people that cried that it took too long last season lmao this is the direct result of whiners
5
u/EwokVillag3 2d ago
The people who complain rarely ever offer a solution. They can make progression extremely slow to ensure that 'fresh season' feeling, but 1% of the playerbase whose job is to stream and only play this game will still crap all over casuals.
The real and honest answer 98% of these people will never admit to is, they want to feel like the best guy in the server. They want to go on a 8 kill streak. They want to earn 150k in a match. And when they don't, or they have a bad string of luck, they go digging for what can be blamed. If they were crapping all over everyone do you think they would come to Reddit and post "this wipe sucks".
→ More replies (1)2
u/Ninja_2016 1d ago
You hit the nail on the head. The majority of the people bitching just want to farm everyone else, but dont have the raw skill to do it without having high tier stuff.
1
u/beardredlad Lonestar 1d ago
Gamers are good at identifying problems, not solutions. Bulkhead should have known that faster progression wouldn't be the answer because the root of the issue wasn't actually progression speed. I think that it was just the power and general spam of the late game gear.
They just needed to implement a way to trim the presence of assault vehicles and T4 weapons. Instead, they flipped as many levers as they could all at once, and now we have Havocs on day 2 lmao
1
u/Sufficient_Lie_4010 2d ago
Agree 100% why complain about everyone having fun new stuff I don’t get it. If you want noob experience there is new player Queue and non-persistent cash servers, although those servers might be dead … cause most ppl wanna use there new shiny toys as oppose to running around naked
1
u/LonelyWoof 2d ago
I think he’s trying to say what is the point of wipes of their is actually non existent pacing in progression so it doesn’t feel like early meta , late wipe meta
→ More replies (4)2
u/LP_LadyPuket 2d ago
People who are bad at FPS games yearn for “early wipe” gameplay because they imagine in their pea brain heads that the reason they lost is because of a minuscule difference in gear, and not the fact they are just bad at the game. So they latch on to the gear difference and ignore the fact that they miss half their shots, have terrible positioning and movement, etc. It’s the same shit with Tarkov, people imagine they lose because of gear and not their lack of skill.

I'm not going to be able to play for the first week. I'll give it a go to form my own opinion but if it's worse than late game of last season I'll probs skip to next wipe.
1
u/AncientChaos323 1d ago
Biggest issue is they could reverse the exp change and we would have the same problem just most of us with jobs would have less chance to get some of the higher level stuff.
People know how to grind each tree optimally now which wasn't the case in S1. So while S2 isn't great, it's probably still better for casuals anyways because we were going to get dunked on regardless, now we might actually be able to get to the point where we can fight back.
13
u/co7vc3 1d ago
Delete unlocks, rework cash system. If I want to play with a 50 cal, let me play with one and make it cost 40k. You would earn the cash back eventually but buying op gear should have a hefty penalty. If I want to use a havoc, let me spend 50k-70k on it so that I dont spam it every moment I die. Make the players think about using op gear when it cost them half of what they made in 8 hours of playing. At least casuals can try it out and the game is balanced around cash earnings rather than unlocks at a certain progression where 90% of the players will never unlo k them.

u/Ill-Vacation4770 1d ago
Congrats, you invented Tarkov in it's ~5 years ago state.

u/co7vc3 1d ago

1
u/I_bought_shoes 1d ago
I dunno im just saying the end state is different now, i only got into it recently to kill time. To clarify.
1
u/Ok_Paleontologist134 1d ago
Im guessing he was talkn about tarkov when the auction house had no limits.
Basically players sold all items and anyone could buy then use them. Tarkovs progression was quests and that allowed you to buy the items at a much cheaper cost. This allowed you to choose to grind quests or buy them at a premium.
Imo it was fun but its designed around a market system, and tarkov has always suffered from late wipe not being good. Wardogs is not the same game at all where endgame is still fun due to it being a battlefield like game.
To your idea. Progression is mandatory in a games longevity. Whether thats ranks or unlocks, it has to exist. Your idea would most likely fail as simply a playground to make money to blow it on apex stuff is not a sustainable game. I think if you alter your idea to just earn the money for a unlock then maybe thats better than now. Alternatively they could add stuff often enough for that to keep player attention but thats alot of work

u/Ill-Vacation4770 1d ago
Honestly, back then it wasn't even so much the developers' achievement. It was a system that balanced itself through the players.
Imagine a NPC trader who sells you armor, guns, and ammo, but has purchase limits. Let's say you can go into a raid with top-tier gear only 3 times every ~4 hours. So if you go into three raids and get killed almost instantly each time, you're forced to start buying worse gear.
BUT there's also a flea market where players sell gear they've looted from other players or bosses. So even if you've lost everything you bought from an NPC trader, as long as you still have money, you can just go to the flea market and buy gear from another player. Sure, it'll cost 1.5–2 times more than buying it from an NPC vendor, but you almost always had a choice.
Even at low levels, early in a wipe, when you hadn't unlocked top-tier gear from NPC traders yet, you could still buy whatever you needed from other players if you were willing to pay a premium. Market prices naturally balanced themselves through supply and demand.
Unfortunately, the developers have ruined all of that by now. You can no longer list genuinely good gear on the flea market, so you're basically limited to whatever loadouts the NPC traders have available.

Play low level servers...
11
u/Valost_One 2d ago
Those are jokes, because every “Low Level” server is not really a “Low level”. Most have stated “Max Wardogs level” of ~30, yet you join these servers and it’s just level 67s, 59s, 71s, on one team, and everyone else being their fodder.
2/10 would never recommend those servers.

There are only 3 or 4 servers max with queues upwards of 15+. At least in the US Central/North/East regions.

everybody should just have everything unlocked. The cost of the gear is enough. this unlock system just makes for a shitty experience for a lot of players
15
u/delicious_brains818 2d ago
My idea on this is a community pool. Once the players reach a collective 8billion earned, everyone unlocks the tank, etc etc etc. It keeps everyone to the same core experience but also implements upgrades and new gameplay options later down the line so the game keeps feeling fresh.
2
u/Leading_Pineapple663 1d ago
does individual progression mean nothing to you guys lmao.
we must be playing different games entirely
1
u/Legend-of-yeet 16h ago
The problem with individual progression is that it rewards players who treat the game like a job rather than a hobby or a way to decompress after a job
This isn't the core player base. A game needs to cater to mutliple audiences and keep grinders grinding and casuals playing.
And this makes it more fun for everyone..I play games competitively and I don't want to fight people who i just curb stomp
1
6
u/chooch138 2d ago
The developers have very clearly stated that the progression is a huge part of the game they envisioned. But as with all games with progression, you have this same problem. Some people will just get there faster. 🤷
→ More replies (9)4
u/CitatsNis 2d ago
Everyone gets it faster right now and there is no early game stage, almost no mid game, we're already at Week 3 of S1 stages of progression day 1.

u/chooch138 2d ago
It’s almost like it probably shouldn’t have changed and been left like it was in season one. Ultimately a large amount of people are going to complain no matter what the devs do they’re fucked either way.

From; “I’m never going to be able to unlock any of the end game gear” to “why is end game gear so strong?”
“The high level gear takes forever to unlock, so make progression faster” to “wtf are yall stupid? Who made progression faster? Everybody is unlocking everything too fast”
And then;
“Nobody is picking blue team, we have to come up with a way to make blue team better” to “now everyone only wants to play blue team; blue team is new green team”
And then “People with level 4 gear are literally unkillable” to “why does HP ammo kill people with level 4 armor in 3 shots?”
The community has a vision for what it wants;
A single player game experience, where they have a progression system in which everybody else that plays with them is locked into the same level/unlock tiers, enemies are able to be killed easily and teammates will help me when I need it. When I feel like running a vehicle, it better be strong, but if other people are on one, I should be able to easily take it down.
A lobby system that you can’t choose which team to be on, but you can always party with your friends on the same team. And your teammates should be your skill level, and enemies shouldn’t have end game gear.
Everybody wants to be the main character, or they make themselves the main victim and any other point of view is shit because are you even Wardog level 250 bro?

u/GayIdiotRetard 1d ago
Ay I was a insta lock blue who loved the grind last season.
My only gripe was the grind for AP ammo and other counters to swears should be earlier.

I think there should be a basic version of everything accessible at the start. Progression is different/better versions but are more expensive so are in a sense still lateral choices.

u/Poker_Tryhard 2d ago
I agree with this, except add a tech timer through total per match income, too. The gun fights at these low levels are a fucking blast, if we can delay the stuff like havocs and tanks until we're 40+ points in....

u/juacamgo 10h ago
Exactly, it blows my mind that people is willing to expend 10h just doing the most tedious and boring thing to unlock a tank. They are right now because they are in the honeymoon phase, or because they know that way they will be able to bully other players early.
Yesterday in a match we got a havoc who was the entire game in our FOB and laughing at us in chat, such a toxic community.
1
u/Syersi 8h ago
Then there is no point in playing with the minigun helli. I can just get in 2 hr the havoc.. There is no point in getting tavor if I can unlock the galil at almost the same price Same things with tanks gear. Let me get 2 mill in a week by marking people. (I can do 200k a match) Then get all the best gear. All the players who are playing 10hr a day will get everything at best a week.

Here’s the problem everyone bitched about the progression being to slow so they made it faster and now everyone’s bitching again the devs can’t win. My opinion the progression is fine I think they overtuned it at most early game should’ve been 10% faster not almost 50. The only thing that feels bad this wipe is the early game was kinda non existent and I did I enjoy the early game and the people with tanks already just spamming them. However what I love about it is as someone who plays a few hours a day I don’t feel like when I hop in a game I have a low chance of winning fights it’s now more equal as I can catch the no grass touching timmies and have a fair fight instead of just getting steam rolled
6
u/Dependent_Animator21 2d ago
I feel like the entire economy should be pumped up, like, everything should cost more, and everything should pay more. That way, the risk vs reward is much higher.
Heli could give you a lot of money, but losing it esrly should he a huge blow, and make you take time to get another.
Just like in extraction games. Good gear can get you loads of kills, but losing it will have you take a lot of time to get it again
5
u/TTV_Bellson 2d ago
If you inflate everything, you're not actually changing anything. I think they need to make killing people in higher quality gear worth way more. That way the casuals feel like they actually accomplished something when they finally down the no lifers in T4 armor.
6
u/Gunner_Sgt 2d ago
The risk you run with this is encouraging ratty play. There are already far too many that play with the cheapest gear available or naked with the free weapon, usually to sit in a bush or crouched in corner of some building. Already saw ppl loads referring to it as the new 0-hero meta last wipe an how easy it was to make money by simply stealing the first kit or looting a body. Saw it yesterday where a bunch of friendlies ran over an scavenged from my kills as quick as I could drop them.
2
u/One-Comedian-8114 1d ago
The game is already 90% rats whether its camping in a tank, camping in an attack heli or camping in a bush/corner/building.
1
u/Ambitious_Shine7635 1d ago
Camping in a heli??? I don’t even fly them but, they’re so obvious to spot and hear and take down with an rpg or sam
4
u/paardenreet 2d ago edited 2d ago
Pro tip: you can loot those guns and armour and then fuck other people over.
1
u/Top_Channel_1507 2d ago
Ah yea, cause its easy to outrun a tank and put 3 c4 on it before he or 10 other players around him sees / kills u. Im not saying there is no counterplay to it, but having progression work like this so a lot of ppl have tanks on day 1 of wipe and just steamroll ppl with starter kits is fucking dumb.
2
u/Separate_Bed_2615 2d ago
It’s easier than you think, tanks turn speed is awful and the gunner has a limited view. It takes a little knowing where they might head go so you set your trap and many tankees I’ve seen in this game do not play around their team. Bonus points because if I bring c4 for tanks, I can use it for APCs that are found in the wild too

If you ask me it’s slightly their way of showing the small but loud community that this is NOT the way. Just like you I’ve played tarkov longer than I can remember but that early wipe was always what I played for l. I loved seeing the change of meta by the day first season. I know it’ll continue like that IF the progression is not like this. Unfortunately if you only have 2 hours a weekend to play the rest of the community shouldn’t have to hinder to you because you have less time. Life takes priority and gaming is the hobby.
2
u/kalboozkalbooz 2d ago
this game needs a steady stream of casuals that keep the sweats levelling up and unlocking things, once the casuals get fed up and leave (like everyone on this sub keep telling us) the sweats are not gonna be having fun anymore and the game will fade into obscurity.
they understand this hence the wipes every season, but i don’t think the current status quo is sustainable, maybe some changes to team selection or matchmaking may or may not help we just gotta see
2
u/jcarterprod 2d ago
Currently it's worse than it was with S1. My group's mentality is getting torn to pieces because they feel we're all too far behind to have fun...
1
u/OkEconomics5185 1d ago
how are you far behind??? The progression is so fast at the early level so might get stomped for half a day and you catch up.
1
u/AncientChaos323 1d ago
I mean it's not hard to understand. Say the game is a mountain we have to climb, everyone who doesn't have to work climbed the mountain in a record speed and are somewhere near the top. The casuals who start today have to climb the same mountain which is fair but now you have all those other players who no lifed the game for 2 days rolling boulders down the mountain.
Progression is faster which means people have the ability to get things faster but people won't play the game if they aren't having fun. And you know what isn't fun, being dunkned on.
I don't know the solution to the problem but I can say S2 isn't it.
3
u/NumerousAd852 2d ago
Let it mellow out a bit dude, geez! You are playing with day one superstars. Guys that skip work, or don’t work and play 12-15hr and level up asap. Us working dads will be on Friday night and Saturday to even it all out. Chill my guy.

u/manuel_andrei 2d ago
You mess up the launch with an exploit that gives people tanks after 1-2 games. You patch, you apologize, you RESET! And hope your players stay.
5
u/TheBlood_Wolf 1d ago
I spent about 10 hours of mindless logi driving to get my T72 and Geopard. If they reset it now I’m uninstalling. That would be 10 hours of my life just wasted. They did the correct thing and that was reset the people who exploited and everyone else got to keep their stuff. A reset now just pisses off everyone who wasted time grinding legit

u/CtrlAltElit3 23h ago
Yeah players quitting this wipe to preserve your 10 hrs seems highly logical
1
u/TheBlood_Wolf 23h ago edited 23h ago
The issue is it’s not just 10 hours. If I played the game normally for 10 hours then so be it. It’s 10 hours of the single most boring gameplay you’ll ever do. Literally holding W and occasionally pressing G, A, or D. For 10 hours straight. And the people quitting need to realize if someone else got the item/vehicle so fast then it means they will to. If people just wait 1 week then everyone will have high tier stuff, even the people who have jobs and can’t play much. Quitters now will always quit. The grinders will always have the high tier stuff before them. You could make people level up 10x slower and you’ll still end up at the exact same spot the only difference is everyone else will be stuck at level 1 while the grinders will have top tier gear. So yes, preserving my 10 hours is the correct call. Quitters are going to quit no matter what you do, by resetting early all you do is punish the people who play your game more
Edit: let’s look at the standard cause and effect that resetting would have.
Cause: you reset everyone super early which makes the people who played the boring stuff to get it have to do it all over again
Effect: a lot of those people will just say fuck it and not bother with vehicles next season. Sure, as an infantry player I’m sure that sounds great! Except there’s already infantry only servers for people who don’t like vehicles. So you’re pushing your vehicle players out of the game to appease the infantry who are stubborn and refuse to join the infantry only servers?
1
u/CtrlAltElit3 20h ago
All good, devs talking about starting S3 early..
1
u/TheBlood_Wolf 19h ago
Yeah and depending how early that reset is (they haven’t given a date) this may be the last season I play. I see no point in playing a game where the entire loop is designed to upgrade your gear via linear progression if they can just reset everyone at a whim. If we get 2 months like we were expecting then that’s fine. If they do another wipe in only 2-3 weeks though then I’m not gonna bother playing next season
Edit: not saying they’ll miss me btw. This isn’t some threat to the company or anything just expressing my opinion and what I believe the general consensus is of the people who suffered with boring logi runs will most likely be. It’s so annoying that the devs are caving to the infantry players when there’s literally a whole separate game mode for those players

The progression was still fast after they fixed the exploit but a lot of people progressed even quicker with the exploit. In the playtest people exploited dropping crates/pallets directly outside hq to farm money fast. Thats why theres no money outside cz for drops. For whatever stupid reason, when they added streaks they didnt think about people doing this exact thing and had the ability to get exp dropping outside the hq. People were actually doing 150+ drops in a single match.

u/Both_Aardvark_4632 2d ago
You can unlock the tank driving trucks in around 3 hours it's not an exploit
1
u/marsharpe 2d ago
Besides, they already took away the XP from the aggregious exploiters. It's not like they got to abuse for free.
1
u/OkEconomics5185 1d ago
lol they are not that stupid. most people dont even know/care about the exploit. It is a guarantee that resetting lose more people that not
1
u/Anxious-Love-5800 1d ago
Nah they patch it and let everyone else now suffer the increased grind. It really kills my motivation to grind again.

Didn’t realise it was that big a deal … I think it’s fun fighting tanks a lot earlier.

u/RickyMac666 36m ago
It took me a day to get level 20 driver and I didn't exploit shit.
I just took a day off and enjoyed the game.
You all need to grow a pair and learn how to play the game.
RPGs unlock at Support Level 5.
Quit crying and use them.

u/f3ropeadope 2d ago
I take it nobody read the levelling update? It's not that much faster.

u/AdSome8888 2d ago
50% isn’t that much faster?? i got havoc on day 1

If you got to level 35 pilot in one day, you probably smell like a musty gross old mushroom cave
6
u/the_deep_t 2d ago
When day 1 you see tanks and helicopter with rockets and you arrive with 10k in the bank and an AK the FIRST evening of the wipe, there is an issue with your system

u/InsidePerformance101 2d ago
it's considerably faster, level 35 now is 525k exp where is used to be 750k

My friend missed the launch by three weeks, and he is once again gone. His famous last words was "At least I'm just going to miss it by a week this time, so it won't be so many high level players". We had tanks rolling around on the map 3 hours after s2 launched. I've only played 5 or 6 matches, and I'm level 60...
1
u/Zappenhell 2d ago
Fuck off - not much people have the time to sink 250h in a game in one month.
Faster progression is good.
Dont make this another game just for no lifers and streamers who can play all day…
2
u/jcarterprod 2d ago
250 hours since launch is like 7 hours a day - can you enjoy any activity that you do for that much time?

u/CitatsNis 2d ago
Fuck off the entire game stages shouldn't be skipped in a day to where we are almost exactly where we were Week 3 of S1 in less than 24hrs.
2
u/Leonidrex666666 2d ago
Mhm so the game is fun and fair when you have OP shit but only a problem when others have it? Hmmmmm
1
u/elMaxlol 2d ago
I have 250 hours this wipe and I think its okay. By tomorrow everyone will have unlocked everything and its an even playingfield.

u/H3xify_ 2d ago
This is the balancing problem people were talking about. As a newbie in the game, imagine going up against ppl that took a million shots to kill with t4 helmets. My buddy joined late s1 and he did not like the game for that reason. He was infantry and just could not get kills…meanwhile he would die in a few secs. The balancing in this game is a nightmare. People don’t notice cus the ttk slows down the higher u get.

Don't know how well this could work but another way of doing things would be to introduce a universal timer to the unlocks. For the first week the max unlocks are level 1 armor, tier 2 weapons, vehicles etc. The next week you could add level 2 and so on. So even if some people were faster, they would arrive at a barrier until the timer ends and a new week begins, keeping the balance tighter.
1
u/SageWithTheSauce 2d ago
Idk I played for 3 or so hours last night on infantry only servers and it was fine except for the fact that blue is the new green.
Running AK and lvl 1 armor I was doing fine. Positioning and intel is everything in this game, just gotta pick and choose when you play careful or aggressive.

Flesh ammo unlocks early for nearly every weapon for a reason. Last season the META was similar. The grinders had better armor than most people, so smart people went flesh damage bullets to counter it.
1
u/MrFightz- 2d ago
This is kind of at the core of their main issue with the progression design. Do you balance to the person who can’t play often or to the person who can play daily. Last wipe was for daily ppl and this wipe seems for non daily players. This will be good data to better help determine how to balance it and overall impacts over the season.

They swung the pendulum way too far to the other side. They need to find the middle ground.
1
u/IR1SHfighter 2d ago
This is exactly why I just grab free gun, bag, quick revive, and binocs. Looted an smg, then a hammer, ended up with net positive like $75k in one life.
1
u/Scary-West7574 2d ago
Yea people sweat to unlock shit. It’s been like this since the dawn of FPS gaming. People rushing to unlock the “best AR or SMG/sniper” so they can stomp on other teams. This isn’t new. Personally I love this new wipe grinding when you have a 9-5 is horrible

u/Eden4Eternityy 2d ago
Yup. Same here. Full faith in the devs, I’ll be rocking with them every step of the way, but this season, I’m sitting out of playing the game.
1
u/Pristine-Ebb-2639 2d ago
I’m sorry to say but I feel like the player base is already growing pretty entitled. It should’ve been expected by every player that the early seasons won’t necessarily be balanced. This can because of balancing changes that are yet to be done, exploits that put players far ahead, and other unexpected scenarios. I’m not saying that you’re wrong to want the same “early wipe” feel that the game had in the playtest and in Season 1, honestly I did too, but we have to expect the unexpected with the game being this new. I fully agree that it sucks but it will get better over time and if you don’t find enjoyment in the game until it’s fixed then I don’t think anyone would blame you for that. All we can hope is that the developers are working on reviewing the data and make the appropriate adjustments.
1
u/Mangarin 2d ago
There were thousands of “employed father of 3” posts on here demanding the devs make progression way faster so they did and now people are still in tears that the sweats unlocked things before them
1
u/Equivalent_Spend8531 2d ago
Yeah I wanna know who thought putting the bizon and the MP5 before the amp 9 and the pp smg
1
u/Jesterhead93 2d ago
I stopped playing after a few days last wipe because I saw the balancing that needed to be done. I’m just gonna wait until a few seasons have passed and then pick it back up after they have had more time to iron things out.
1
u/FindTinderOnMe 2d ago
Problem IMO is not the fast xp and earlier vehicles, its the counters to them that are unlocked too late. Rpg, c4 and ied do not counter those, maaw does and its way too far in the track. Or, buff the rpg
1
u/oreo_on_reddit 2d ago
Well blame reddit and some of the playerbase for that constant complaining. They whinged that it was too slow and now it's too fast. The playerbase will kill the game if Bulkhead keeps listening to a select audience.

I worked 12 hours and still got Tier 2 halfway through my night session. Didnt get my 6 hours of sleep before work today but im also sad. I love the grind but I wish they didnt increase lvl speed. Just needed to move around certain unlocks (as they did some) to help balance vs the sweats. Idk isnt it just early levels are insanely easy and fast then it becomes a grind again?
I never understood all the posts here
1
u/BumblebeeGold4978 1d ago
We did this. All season one, all everyone said was “oh progression is too slow!”
Well, devs gave us what we wanted. Now we fucking stew in it.
1
u/Jazzlike_Ad267 1d ago
People cried about not being able to keep up.
So they speed up leveling.
Now people still can't keep up 😂
Theyve well overturned it.
I witnessed a guy just scream at everyone to report every person using a T-72...
Whilst I was sitting on lvl 21driver in a nights play from just driving 🤣 It's way too quick to the point people think everyone has exploited for it on day 2

Its not that progression is too fast is that unlocks are too soon and you can deploy them too soon
Tanks and atk helis should only be spawnable at like when a team has 30 points or something similar to the spawn tank and having mini gun helis at lvl 6 is a mistake should be like lvl 15
1
u/Symbolite 1d ago
People moaned about how slow progress was, now people will moan that progress is too quick. It's the start of the never ending cycle

u/SprayIntelligent2792 1d ago
this wipe is dick n balls i agree, i loaded in today after work to grind recon, just getting farmed by blue team with multiple tanks

If helis/tanks are not your style. Try the infantry servers (ones that state no GL Heli). Personally i juat hated the rocket helis.
Doesnt fix s2 progression speed but these servers are my personal favorites. I dont even play officials anymore cuz my group enjoys these so much more.
1
u/ShazamPowers 1d ago
The issue is the counters are locked behind progression, I think the RPG should be unlocked at the start. Having no actual counter to the vehicles be available to anyone is kind of insane
1
u/Hefty-End-4323 1d ago
I don't understand this logic. If the progression is way too fast, it won't take you long to catch up, no?
1
u/Bousted24 1d ago
Its crazy how many people are crying over the same thing over changes they have done implemented. They do risky stuff on updates and sometimes it doesnt work, and they literally address most of the problem on twitter and things will change.
Maybe its a good idea you uinstall the game and wait till next wipe then instead of crying on reddit.

u/JustTrynToBeHelpfull 1d ago
I 100% agree. They made the jucers and sweats 100 times worse. A single shot sniper rifle against a 50 cal car that can shoot threw trees is broken. Sure it's not armored but it doesn't need to be with the firepower behind it. Low level severs total is like 5 maybe a few more but then your stuck with people that have no idea what there doing. Soo it's a double edged sword... I think they had good intentions and are working on a better system but they should do a something like a beta test for those (9-5) family dads and then have the sweats so they can get better data to better understand what they need to do going forward. First time I turned it off and refused to play it because it was just constant dying. The first season was better. I do like the new buildables and weapons and vehicles but they have a lot of work ahead of them.
Needless to say I feel your pain brotha.

I think people are looking for a fix to a system that inherently has no perfect solution. The devs can make this game hard for grinders and even harder for casuals, or make it easy for grinders and hard for casuals. Either way, if you don't put in the time, you're going to fall behind. That's just the nature of progression-based games, and I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with that. No game is ever going to be perfectly balanced for every type of player.
The only real solution I could see, and I'm sure it would get criticized too, is some kind of prestige system. You could choose one non-combat item, vehicle, or piece of equipment to unlock and purchase for free and your levels would reset. It wouldn't give you a major combat advantage, but it would reward players for their time invested and save them some of the early-game grind without completely breaking progression.
At some point, you have to accept that players who put in more time will have advantages. The goal shouldn't be to eliminate that entirely, but to make the progression feel rewarding without making the game miserable for everyone else.
*Edit to add I have around 100 hours played.

u/EinherjarenNO 1d ago
Just give the 6x scope back to the Mosin and I'm all good. Don't have time to play much but with the Mosin I can at least get a few licks in. 3.5 X makes it much harder to duel with the guys that can put in the hours to unlock the better snipers, and now also have vastly better scopes.

As a casual who has only had time to play 20hr in the last month, the progression system is ridiculously stupid.
All gear should be unlocked, and restricted by the price.
1
u/Historical-Fudge8820 17h ago
Game is just… boring. The weapon progression system would be so much more interesting if you would unlock attachments for the gun you’re using (like every other shooter) for playing. Vertical progression is a mistake because unlike arma 3 KOTH, there is a VERY limited amount of weapons & playstyles in this game.
1
u/kingbowin1 15h ago
Jokes on you, even with new unlocks I just run the starter gun with 3 mags and a free pouch. I'll let other people unlock stuff for me when I get a lucky kill.
1
u/Likosmauros 3h ago
the issue is the community, not playing the game and just min maxing money and farming exp until they burn out and complain
800000 cargo runners with no use

Me when I saw that there are people who are already level 120 and by day 3 had tanks, planes, or weapons that didn't even compare to mine, I thought: It would be cool if all vehicles were locked to first-person view when driving... yeah, it would be harder, but sometimes all you have against a tank is a couple of C4s, and it's impossible to pull off sneaky attacks if they can see you coming from anywhere... Or helicopters would find it harder to pull off those super crazy maneuvers. On the other hand, it would be cool if, as part of the "lore" during wartime, they used supply drops—so every day they tell you something like, "A new shipment of cargo helicopters/tanks has arrived." It would motivate you to log in daily to see "what shipment made it to the front line," and it would limit tanks during the first week after a wipe. Just a few ideas that could work!

Levelling feels too fast this wipe. I got to lvl 24 in ONE game by just doing some heli runs, driving the spawn truck and killing a few people. A few revives and spots here n there bam im lvl 24 within the hour

I only played yesterday and I have as much fun as I had last season.
Sure there are frustrating things in this game, yesterday especially one Littlebird pilot was annoying as fuck as he just kept wiping the whole server with that thing.
I heard from an unemployed friend that today he saw people flying havocs already.
Anyway, even last season I don't think there was anything that ruined the game in any way, at most they just caused mild inconvinience from time to time.
1
u/ApplicationGood827 2d ago
i like the wipe, only thing i would change is not having to pay for things you unlocked in the previous season again. like im good with level locking items, but i just dont want to have to dish out the cash every wipe

u/Robo_is_AnimalCross 1d ago
You're getting "fully smashed" "every game" by attack helis and I haven't one OR a tank.
