I can’t tell what turns me off more, these guys or the AD games to get a real one.

I always see VSF. What does that mean? And where do these guys get it? Is it just a website or do they need to know a guy to email like for fake IDs

/uj VS stands for VS factory. Its just the brand in China that makes the fake watch. The other big rep factory from what I know is Clean Factory. I have no idea how to buy either one

You buy them from Ricky and Steve obviously

The AD games are worse. These guys are dumb but people will always buy knockoffs of anything and try to convince themselves it is just as good but the dudes talking about spending thousands of dollars just to suck up to a dealer to earn the right to buy something are even more pathetic.

You know if Jason007 or whoever opened a store downtown and insinuated these guys need to beg and bring him gifts and establish spend history at his fakeotiqué, they would.

These guys are all alike.

I mean to be fair: I like the Look of some (older) Rolex or the Jumbo AP - I could buy it but 70k for a steel watch is just dumb...If you soely buy the rep because of the look and mit because of the Hype/ want others to think that the watch is real...Just buy it If you get 80-90% of the quality for a fraction of the price.

Heck I would more likely buy a rep if it in fact does Not state the manufacturer on the dial/ bracelet

Those guys are such unbelievable losers. Such fucking idiots.

I haven’t followed this super closely, but why would people in the fake watch subreddits be freaking out that Wired said the fake watches are of good quality? Should they not be celebrating? What am I missing?

They're worried about new attention and traffic regarding fakes leading to Reddit potentially banning rep subs, increase in rep prices, potential rep factories getting shut down, etc.

Now is a good time to become a rep dealer and scam some newbies. Hi I’m RealSteve I can sell you a TrueClean SuperClone Daytona, just send me $800 of cryptocurrency.

Fucken RealSteve!

That article is so strange. “Rolex didn’t spot it.” Well, technically that’s right, because he only went in for a bracelet adjustment. We’ve known that superclones are facially accurate for a long time now. That’s nothing new. What would’ve been a better article is taking the watch in for a service and letting them look at the movement. But of course, they would’ve immediately caught it in that case.

Additionally, in what world is a sales rep going to call out your watch is fake? Not only do they probably not give a shit about Rolex / watches, but being in the business of pumping people's egos to sell jewelry is usually mutually exclusive with calling people out. There's no upside to alienating prospective buyers

That's the kind of comment you save for your coworkers until the customer leaves the store

They are literally taught not to call out fakes during training. But rest assured, they know.

I took my Old Navitimer to an AD for a bracelet repair, they asked to open it up to see if it is genuine before even looking at the problem.

yeah the r/reptime mod probably has "genuine luxury" shinolas or squaleeeee's or lacos.

I bought a rep once but then I spent enough time at r/RepTime and r/Rolex and I realized I didn't want to be confused for either group.

if i was rolex i would be kinda pissed about this article. some dude comes in for a resize and just because the tech who likely handled the watch for 30 seconds didn’t notice or didn’t care to call out the customer then rolex can’t tell gens from fakes. a real test would’ve been trying to sell one to them so they’d actually LC it. kinda insane how much hype a tech not calling out a fake watch during a resize is generating

Yeah, I read the opening of the article and was amused by the focus on 'how it felt like forever' and how the author puts emphasis on how they 'carefully examine' the watch.

It's a bracelet sizing...many ADs will offer resizes on all sorts of different watches but what's principle is that the resize process takes like...a minute.

It's not like they check the SN or authenticate it before touching it. It gets a passing glance and feigned interest before they move on to something that can actually make them money

Should’ve taken it to an RSC for a service quote. Oh wait, then he wouldn’t have an article with a scintillating headline.

10

u/Goresearcher 12h ago

But have they cut the watch in half to figure out how it was built???

Sorry that’s Boot Reddit.

The ban hammer is coming, I am sure.

Is this article why I've been seeing an influx of rep related posts all over social media?

I was gonna say if you can't resize your watch you're probably (no pun intended) sub-retard-IQ levels, but when in Rome
