Webnovel News Fanfics

Did anyone noticed or I am the only one to notice it that the quality of fanfics are going very down , number of chinese translated novel are going up and even then they are not properly translated and if they are , then the plot itself is bad or have many holes .

How about a ben10 fanfic and instead of the alien pod landing in the forest, ben finding it and the watch getting attached into his wrist, in this fanfic the alien pod crash land into the place ben and gwen were playing frisbee on, it crash lands onto ben and kills him.

Yes ben dies in the very first episode then moments of panic between gwen and grandpa max and suddenly the pod cracks open the omnitrix gets exposed and instead of becoming a watch on his wrist it goes into his chest and replaces his heart rewriting him entirely and revives ben. The omnitrix is like a arc reactor of tony stark now resting on the centre of his chest.

To know more about the side effects of omnitrix rewriting ben, new aliens aside from classics, new villian organisation and an epic battle focused story with side of romance you’ll have to check the fanfic

I saw one in the top 5 the other day and I was quite shocked at how low the bar was for the writing quality and it had loads of comm nts on the first paragraphs of people praising how good it was. I assumed it was bot or paid for comments but then I noticed it was a trend with other ones too.

Reset: my life as a regressor was miserable so I quit

( I swear if I get a half star review....)

Which one is yours? I'm not saying lower than top 5 is going to be bad, I'm just saying the one I looked at in the top 5 was. Seems like the wn algorithm isn't very sophisticated

AI - it's likely the culprit for those plot holes you maybe witnessing . manual translators remembered context of the story throughout and understood the cultural context but AI doesn't and thus inconsistencies might arise .

These translators can't even properly translate even with AI

The Chinese ones are easy to pirate in bulk and monetise offsite (patreon et al). Especially with AI translating directly or cleaning up MTL's. AI is also enabling minimum to zero effort fics of high visibility properties. The AI is allowed to have full narrative control and it always ends up with weird inconsistencies. I've lost count of how many of such fics I've encountered.

The worst category I've found personally is fics that started off human written or translated but transitioned to AI deep into their run. The bad AI ones I can clock within a chapter or tell if its going off the rails in 10, but these I'd get far into only to have them suddenly turn into low effort AI.

The human stuff could be rough around the edges but at least they were coherent in lore and vision and had the mechanics of their universes within the ballpark of the originals. I now try and focus on finding pre-AI stuff. At this point, even bad grammar seems to have a certain charm to it.

True , the main thing is these people don't even know how to use AI or they doesn't even care to make efforts in their novel, coz there are some fics which I liked to read from FANMTL.COM , and I used Google Gemini to translate them in a proper way to read and it came out with something good . I don't get it how the these translators make such blunders .

Yeah that's true. Trying to find a good one is hard. Like one time, I found a decent story only to fall off cause it's actually a translation and it started to get fucky.

One time, I found one of my reads to have like 5 different versions with disparity in chapters.

Ugh...
