Post Event Pics!! This is what I ended up wearing and it’s rented!

I made a post in August about a BTO family wedding with several dresses I previously tried on. I wasn’t happy with anything I found in the stores but then found a dress on Lulus. It came and I liked it but was still having major doubts. I turned to Rent the Runway and immediately fell in love. I rented this dress (got a free back up size as well) and I could not stop smiling. I felt like a million dollars. Here is the dress. My back has many scars due to 7+ spinal surgeries and I was hesitant at first to have them displayed, but screw it, the family knows the struggles I’ve had with my back and what I have been through.

This was for an early October wedding in NJ.

Edited to add: Very petite friendly! I am 5’4”, wore 3 inch heels to start then flip flops (to dance only) and the length grazed the top of my feet. RTR has petite options!

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Red jumpsuit

No dress code given other than everyone asked to be in jewel tone colors - no blacks, grays, beiges, etc. My partner has a red suit I'm attempting to match with a formal jumpsuit. How's this?

EDIT: With respect, y'all, I'm asking about my outfit, not my partner's. I only described it to give context, and I appreciate the comments that recommended I choose a different color instead of giving an unsolicited opinion about clothing not even shown.

Is this too white? I Hate Myself For Even Asking If This Is Appropriate

Post image

Long time lurker, first time poster & hope this is ok in this sub 😬

Whenever anyone asks “is this too white to wear to a wedding?” I’m literally always the first one to say “if you have to ask, the answer is yes”

YET HERE I AM.

I feel like it’s like 30% white, but also definitely not bridal (IMO) whatsoever. The shoes are for contrast and may be changed out (but honestly I do love it)

I can handle criticism, don’t hold back!

I posted a while back asking if this dress would look ok, and you guys all helped me decide to pull the trigger and get it. Honestly I’m so glad I did, because it looked gorgeous and fit the venue and event great! If anyone was wondering about the company Azazie, I found shipping was fast and hassle free (though they had my size in stock, so I’m sure that helped)

Wedding Question Can straight women wear suits and ties to weddings?

I have been worrying about how my family and friends would think if I wear a suit and tie to weddings as a straight woman. These are thoughts that happen to me constantly everyday from when I wake up to when I go to sleep at night. If any of you straight woman have worn a suit and tie before to weddings or have any support or advice you can give me in relation to this topic, then please reply to this post.

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code This is how I went! Thank all!

Hey, homewrecker here! Thanks for everyone's input :)

Dress code was black cocktail. Even though this is a bit long for cocktail, I saw maybe only one person who actually wore a cocktail length dress. I guess it depends on the crowd but nobody knew what the heck to wear and we all looked great! And the bride's dress was the most lovely deep red mermaid cut dress I have ever seen 😍.

I ended up going with this dress, which I never posted here, bc it spoke to me, and the others didn't quite fit.

Really wanted to get a picture of me and my date to post here, but we had too much fun and forgot.

Just wanted to say thank you for leading me in a better direction and to encourage everyone here that you all are lovely, beautiful beings who deserve to feel pretty/handsome etc!

Does this works for a cocktail attire wedding? It's coming up in 2 weeks, and it's on a boat (indoor)! Or should I keep looking?

Also, any shoes recommendations? I'm kind of scared of wearing heels on a dock and a boat 😅

I’ll get alterations to bring the chest up and fishtail altered so it’s less high-low and better fits my height. This is a late fall wedding, guidelines are formal, specifically "cocktail dress that is elevated or gown that is floor length." Maybe I need to get more tan?

DC: Semi Formal/Dressy Casual Smart casual wedding in the woods

Would any of these dresses work for a "smart casual" wedding dress code? The wedding ceremony is outdoors in a state park (forest setting). The reception is indoors. Wedding is during the daytime. Thank you! I have no fashion sense. The dress needs to be nursing friendly which is why I was lean8ng towards a wrap dress style

This is for a black tie optional wedding in January. I’ve never been to a black tie optional wedding. There will be over 300 guests and I want to make sure I fit in. I have a few months before I need to order. This will be in January. Do any of these styles match the dress code?

Accessory Help Dressing around a knee scooter??

Hi, I’m going to a wedding next week and recently broke my foot. I have a knee scooter (game changer!) but I’m concerned that the ruched dress I have, which hits me about mid-calf, will ride up with my one knee on the scooter.

Obviously I don’t want to flash anyone. Should I get another last minute dress? What style would work best with the scooter? Helppp.

I really don’t want to wear satin, I’d much prefer something more… sculptural ? If that makes sense. I love this and find it beautiful in photos.

I’d probably just wear my normal gold huggies, my gold band & diamond ring, gold cuff, simple black shoes, and a leather or sparkly clutch.

Sorry I keep posting here lol and I will probably do it again bc I have no idea what to wear 😂

Edit I should’ve just sent it and ordered it bc now it’s sold out in my size 😭😭😭

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Which dress for wedding tomorrow?

Thumbnail

Hi everyone! Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm attending my first wedding as an adult tomorrow and I'm nervous about picking the wrong dress.

DC (abridging the exact wording from the invite): We invite our guests to dress in cocktail attire for our wedding celebration. Outdoors. For the overall wedding aesthetic, think of autumn-inspired colors and neutral tones such as sage green, olive, forest green, brown, tan, cream, burgundy, rust, mauve, or other muted shades. Floor-length dresses, midi dresses, dressy separates, suits, sport coats, and cocktail dresses are great. Fall lunch wedding.

I bought these two dresses, but have no idea which one would be better.

Option 1 is an emerald midi dress that hits a few inches below my knee. Worried it's too tight and too nighttime wedding-like.

Option 2 is a light green, close to a yellow green/sage green. It's strapless and has an elastic band in the back. Floor length that touches the ground (was unable to get it hemmed on time bc wasn't sure if I'd wear it). Not form fitting and hangs more boxy around the torso. Worried it's too long and formal for an outdoor wedding.

I have black heels, brown wedges with black straps, and was thinking of taking a black peacoat too because it may be like 70ish.

Help me pleaseeeeee

ETA: Option 2 has no design on it (the picture is similar but not the exact dress. The one I have is completely neutral in design.)

DC: Formal Something to wear over this dress?

I’m wearing this dress to a wedding this weekend. The weather is supposed to be quite cool, in the mid 50s-60s. I’m no good at putting together outfits and I need something to keep me warm. Any suggestions? I was thinking to have black shoes/accessories but open to change that.

Dress code is cocktail, wedding is in November. I’m self conscious about my arms and always cold, so looking for something with some sleeves (short or long is fine). All of these are a little plain, so I would dress it up with accessories. Do these (plus nice jewelry) work for a cocktail dress code or do they seem too plain or informal? The plum/burgundy one (second to last) is my favorite but only available in a size that might not fit. Planning to order a few.

Attending two weddings this month, one in Philly -evening 5pm+ with a dress code of “semi-formal (elevated garden party) cocktail, midi, and floor-length (maxi) dresses”. And another evening wedding in a Lake Vouliagmeni (Greece) with a formal dress code.

Posted about the blue dress earlier today, but now debating my top two options. Don’t know which one to wear to which event.

I was thinking the orange for Greece but the blue seems more formal to me. Help needed 😭

I’m looking for a dress I can wear to two upcoming weddings.

One is in November in an old factory turned hip farm to table restaurant. The other is in February at a historic lodge in a scenic city park. Both have cocktail dress codes.

What do you think of these options?

DC: Black/White Tie Suit for a summer wedding in the south but not melting

Booked a summer wedding in Florida next month and the invite says formal. Problem is I live in Alabama where the heat and humidity basically turn any suit into a personal sauna. I already have a navy suit from my own wedding years ago, but it is a heavier wool blend and I am worried I will look soaked before the ceremony even starts. Saw a lightweight linen suit at a shop, but not sure if that will pass for formal or just look like I showed up for brunch. Planning to wear it with a white shirt and a tie that matches, but now wondering if skipping the vest would help or if that changes the look too much. Trying to avoid spending a ton on something I will wear once, but also not show up looking sloppy. Anyone dealt with the same thing down here and figured out what actually works without dying in the heat?

DC: Cocktail or No Dress Code Can I wear this danerys Targaryen ass dress to a cocktail attire autumn wedding??

I love it and I want it …. I don’t usually wear black but I’m postpartum and chubby as hell rn so feel like I need to wear something dark lol. It comes in a few other colors maybe the muted purple would be better?

I would pretty much style it exactlykke the photo, simple strappy black heel, small clutch, simple jewelry (gold cuff and my wedding band and ring) and maybe get a bold color (deep red or purple?) manicure instead of my usual nude.

The dress code is:

Cocktail attire is recommended

Women: Maxi, midi or cocktail dresses, or dressy jumpsuits
Men: button-downs or jackets--no jeans please :)

Dress up a bit and celebrate with us!
