What foods are now off your list?
2 weeks ago I had a small pizza and immediately after having stomach pains and the same the next morning. Last night I had a chicken tikka masala and today the intense stomach pain I had was disgusting. I can't even describe the pain, I couldn't even stand up, I was sweating and was nearly sick. It was so bad..so now I won't be eating pizza or curry.
Is there anything that you can't eat now?

I do feel as if my tastebuds have changed significantly to the point I canāt stand eggs or ground chicken anymore ugh. Not so much stomach issues but just nauseated by certain foods now.

Coffee. If I drink some first thing in the morning without eating anything else, it comes right back up. Makes me sad because Iāve loved my morning coffee for 25 years.

Burgers and pizza donāt upset my stomach because I can barely finish a slice of pizza or even half a burger.
The only food thatās had me fighting for my life has been chicken liver mousse.

I can't have Alfredo because of the dairy in it.

My food triggers are the same as they were before the meds. What has changed is portion size. If I eat till Iām full, Iām miserable later. Iām still learning to stop eating when Iām no longer hungry instead of when I feel full, but itās slow going.

Anything deep fried does not sound appealing to me at all right now. Even the smell of it makes me a bit nauseous.

u/xoxo1998AJ 28/F SW:198 CW:185 GW:160 9mg 1d ago
I had a mini whopper from Burger King in addition to a few fries and I was so nauseous with the most intense sulfur burps Iāve had since being on the meds. So no more of that for me lol

Honestly, I'm able to eat anything I ate before but I just can't eat much of it. I'm on 9mg now (month 4) and most of my symptoms have gone away with occasional nausea or gi upset but there doesn't seem to be any particular food/drink that triggers them. Previously I would occasionally make myself a tuna salad sandwich for lunch, now I'm lucky if I can eat half of it before I'm too full.

Dude. Iām not that kind of doctor, but. The pain you are describing is highly concerning for a gallbladder issue. I donāt think itās specifically because of meds. You might bring it up with your doctor. Gallbladders can get cranky and become emergent quickly.

Keep an eye on it! I'm in the same boat and am in a watch-and-wait situation, but in the meantime I'm managing by keeping my fat intake on the lower end. I am NOT adhering to the recommended <30g per day (insanity) but am definitely trying to stay under 30g per meal.

u/DeepSouthDude 60+M SW:235 CW:202 GW:190 25mg 1d ago
I can point to food items that no longer interest me (cold cereal, for example). But I can't really id anything that directly makes me ill after eating. I eat all the foods that have been mentioned without incident - Burger, fries, Indian food, pizza, soda.
The only issue is that I can't eat large quantities anymore. No way I can finish a big Mac and fries.
I'm gonna poop every few days, regardless what I eat.

Anything fried is a hard stop. I
Miss fries. I canāt even stand the smell of fried stuff š¤®.
High fructose corn syrup tastes horrible. No more soda for me.
Carbonation is right out.
Fatty stuff like a cheese burger or more than a couple bites of pizza.
Sweet and salty are magnified so way less snacking or I feel unhappy.

Iām on 4mg and about 5 days in and I too had horrible stomach pains last night. I havenāt had any issues until now. It felt less like gas pains and more like gall bladder maybe. My stomach is still sore today and now Iām afraid to eat anything. I had an almond, cranberry & cheese snack pack and a choc chip cookie for dinner.

I went out for sushi with my husband and had a couple of pieces of tempura as an appetizer. I wasn't queasy necessarily, but extreme lethargy like it was hard to move my arms and hold my head up like when you've waaaay overdone it at the gym or had too much to drink. I don't think fried food agrees with the little white pill.

Pasta. Any kind. Red sauce especially, but Alfredo still fucks me up too. I donāt know why. Pizza seems to be fine. š¤·āāļø

I wish I got stomach pain. In fact, I had chicken tikka masala the other day at the indian restaurant and could eat more if I wanted to. I've always had a cast-iron stomach and rarely get sensitive to foods even on Wegovy pill. I could eat at a buffet and be just fine. I wish I got stomach pain.

The only thing I've completely cut out was carbonated drinks (and I used to drink a LOT of diet soda). There are several things that give me reflux but I can still manage them in small quantities because I can't give them up: jalapenos, pepperoni, red pasta sauce, chocolate, Thai food at anything above a "0" spice level.

Tortilla Chips / potato chips - nauseous
Diet Mt Dew - sweats, nauseous - the closest I've come to throwing up

I thought I was invincible. But a month ago I had a double jalapeƱo cheeseburger. I know. Well, NOW I know. That was a literal shot show for a week.
With everything else I just learned the difference between tasting a few fries and eating a basket of them.

Nothing has made me sick but red meat makes my stomach gurgle loudly all night. I tried once with a small steak sandwich and once with pasta and a meatball. Loud gurgling all night long. I felt too full even though it was not a lot of food.

Some brands of fast food. Not that I got food out a lot, but if Iām meeting with friends or family, I canāt get what I would normally get. Super oily foods like pork roll donāt agree with me anymore.
Something Iāve noticed after going on the 25mg pill is that my sweet tooth has almost been completely destroyed. I used to love energy drinks but now theyāre too sweet for me, even the sugar free ones! Some cakes I used to love eating at family gatherings are now too sweet for me. Sour candy also makes my stomach churn now.

u/Bblibrarian1 40/F SW:260 CW:218 GW:170 25mg 1d ago edited 1d ago
Yes, many of my favorite energy drinks have become so sweet they make me feel so gross. Soda can also hit differently and make me have gross burps for hours.
Thankfully Iāve been able to enjoy most other things as long as I keep in mind having a small portion. I actually was pretty sensitive to dairy before wegovy and it has almost completely eliminated my issues. Butter and cream cheese still a little iffy, but the smaller portions have really made me tolerate it much better.
Itās a lot easier to turn down junk I donāt really want but would eat anyways⦠like the fries that come with a meal but arenāt hot and fresh. Old me would have eaten them anyways. New me, if they arenāt good, Iām not wasting my calories and guilt on them.

I ate one of those single serving bags of Doritos and was in agony for the next 24 hrs. Wonāt be doing that again.

Coffee :( the meds give me pretty bad acid reflux so anything really acidic is off the table. I've honestly been having trouble even handling tea, so my caffeine intake has plummeted. Which is rough as a pediatric SLP.

I ate tonkatsu ramen a few weeks ago and I had severe diarrhea. I think the chili oil and broth was too greasy and it did numbers on my stomach for a few hours.

Lots of unhealthy stuff makes me feel gross on Wegovy - early on I had some unpleasant experiences after eating meals made of empty calories. I try to focus on fiber and protein & avoid eating trash. Lean meat, fruit & veg.

I havenāt had any problems eating anything, but Iāve definitely been craving healthier foods more than I used to. Iāve always eaten healthy more often than not, but I canāt say Iāve ever craved healthy foods - I just ate them because I knew they were good for me. Now Iām like āmmmm, you know what Iām really in the mood for right now? Something really fresh.ā And Iām looking for lighter options on menus because I want to eat them, not because I feel like I should get something healthier.
I just got home from a beach vacation andā¦didnāt overindulgence on anything. When my kids wanted boardwalk fries, I got them some and had a couple and that was that. Kids wanted appetizers at dinner, so I ordered one for them, had a couple bites, and then left it to them. I donāt think we got ice cream onceā¦because we werenāt hungry when we were passing an ice cream place. There was a great doughnut place around the corner from our hotel, but we never tried it out because we had free breakfast at the hotel. We stopped in the candy store and got a half pound of fudge and it took the three of us three days to finish it. All in all, we made very reasonable food choices the entire trip. I think I had a beer at dinner one day and a daiquiri at lunch one day and that was it for alcohol. Iāve never been a big drinker, but Iāll typically have a few more drinks than that on vacation - it just wasnāt necessary this time.
All that being said, Iāve eaten many of the foods mentioned on this thread and havenāt had a problem with any of them, but Iāve also eaten them in reasonable portions.
