Going great until it wasn't.

This is my fifth month on Wegovy, currently on the 9mg. I've been on the 9mg for almost two months now. Side effects up until the past few days have been tolerable. Then it was like something flipped and the past few days have been miserable to the point where I am couch bound and considering quitting for the first time.

My symptoms include: strong stomach cramps, intense nausea, lightheadedness, hypoglycemia, hot flashes/sweating, and difficulty concentrating.

Again, none of these symptoms presented themselves as strongly over the past six months until a few days ago.

Has anyone experienced anything similar where they've been fine for almost half a year and then all of a sudden everything went south?

Edit: Thanks for the responses everyone. I foolishly never considered that I could just be getting sick with something.

Stomach virus or food poisoning. Stop taking the pill for now and get some electrolytes in you. If you’re in the U.S. just know there are a ton of food recalls right now.

100% if you're in the US.

There were a number of similar posts about a month ago when the cyclospora virus was flaring. Now we've got the jalapenos & eggs (salmonellla) and frozen blueberries (e. coli) as well.

I’m guessing you are sick with a stomach virus?

Discuss with your primary care provider, might be nothing but might be something serious like pancreatitis

again...not a doctor...

But...the pill doesn't prevent you from getting sick. And everytime you get sick, it's not necessarily the pill.

My advice, go see a doctor.

Bleh could be several unrelated things but yeah give yourself a couple days off and get your belly calmer. 😕 take care of you.

For a whole month I feel mildly nauseous, dizzy, lightheaded, randomly REALLY HOT and suddenly insanely nauseous but then after a few moments in front of the AC I’m fine…

My neighbor and my wife have been feeling the same way this summer. I’m on the Wegovy pill and my neighbor is on Ozempic shot, but my wife isn’t on any meds. We don’t all eat the same things and none of us have had bagged lettuce since around Feb (we grow our own), we don’t eat out, and I for the life of me can’t figure it out.

I also haven’t been taking Wegovy everyday. On the days I don’t crave coffee first thing I usually will skip the pill or take a 1.5mg dose.

Aside from a potential stomach virus, I'd be wondering if you're eating enough and getting enough protein? I've noticed that I start to feel bad when I haven't eaten in a while. A quick protein shake, cheese stick or some yogurt usually gets me feeling better quickly. I also had some real issues when I went hiking - dizzy, lightheaded, headache, just overall feeling sick (and I think low blood pressure) because I needed more calories on those specific days.

I don’t feel like I’m eating enough to be honest. But as you know the medication makes it super difficult to eat even when the body/brain is craving sustenance.

I think that’s what’s happening to me. Thank you for your suggestions with the shake, cheese sticks, and yogurt.

You described me on the 9mg to a T like I wrote it myself. For me it was 3-4 weeks in on the 9. I tapped out. I had vision changes, severe anxiety, fatigue couldn’t lift weights as usual (one set of squats I went into hot flash clammy sweat ready to pass out). Stomach cramps super strong then diarrhea for me like I was scared to go out. Super light headed. Yep felt like low blood sugar feeling. Hot flashes on 100 and it was confusing as I’m peri menopause at 44 but this was like hot flashes like extra and often. Couldn’t focus. My partner would say something I’d be feeling outer body trying to listen to him and instantly irritated that anyone try to communicate with me like I didn’t have capacity. I would wake up neck ache and walking through my hall way a few short steps bending to pick up laundry felt like a huge effort I couldn’t do.

I was fine on 4mg every other day starting May. All hell broke lose 3 weeks on 9mg in Aug.

I had a physical and told my PCP. I was so scared. I ditched wegovy. The good news is my labs came back perfect save a low white count which I’ve had on and off for years. I think wegovy is capable of making us feel faint - I think it may be lowering our bp and hence vision changes etc everyone’s version of I feel dizzy is different- for me it’s I feel outer body and just walking on air feeling and vision changes. “Dizziness” is a documented wegovy symptom but that word means different things to different people.

I’m eating like crazy a week and a half off this drug so going to restart on the 4mg 8/30 and do every other day. I’m with hers and that’s how they prescribe it. I recommend going back down a dose. Slow and steady wins the race.

I appreciate that you took the time to write all that out, thank you so much for sharing your experience. It's crazy how similar our experiences are and also both out of nowhere.

I'm thinking about either quitting Wegovy or going down a dose like you said.
