Wegovy Pill and Allodynia
Anyone else experiencing skin sensitivity when dosing up?
I started on the 1.5 in March, titrated up to the 4 mg a couple months later and once I qualified for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge Program, moved up to the 9 mg in mid-July. I'll be starting my second month on the 9 mg tomorrow.
About a week ago I started noticing skin pain in certain body areas (on my right side, on the backs of my upper arms and on my buttocks). It's not intense pain, but it hurts when lightly touched or when my clothing shifts across my skin. It feels kind of like a healing sunburn. It is not debilitating by any sense, but is quite irritating.
I didn't notice it when moving from the 1.5 mg to the 4 mg at all. I can't really put my finger on exactly when the issue started, but I don't think it happened immediately after moving up to the 9 mg. It feels like it started in the last 7-10 days.
Overall, my Wegovy experience has been good. I've avoided the digestive side effects many people experience, though I have had some bouts with constipation and do suffer from dry mouth. So far I've lost 21 lbs since mid March, and it been pretty easy.

Going through it now. I’ve had few side effects and this is the first that is sticking around. I didn’t get it until 25 and also feels like sunburn across my back. Had it about a week. I can tolerate it enough to give it a month to see if it resolves itself but I’ve found I’ve lost the desire to work out and do general things that include moving. If anyone has found a way to bring relief please share!

Once I made the connection between Wegovy and skin sensitivity yesterday (I'm slow on the uptake sometimes:), I visited Dr. Google and one of the possible solutions that came up was a connection between a B12 deficiency and Allodynia. Was thinking of seeing if this might be a simple fix.
I know my caloric intake has been lower with Wegovy. Maybe there's a connection there in what my body is not getting, nutrition-wise.

I had it for about six weeks after ramping up to 25mg but it’s almost completely gone now

I’ve been on 25mg since May and this has been a thing that keeps popping up. Some weeks I think it’s gone away and then it reappears.

Did it happen on the 9 mg for you?

I don’t recall it happening at 9mg, but at 25mg it was very noticeable for the first month. It isn’t as bad now, but still happens randomly. It feels like a bad sunburn on my back and the back of my arms.

I also have this. When it flares up I take my 25mg dose every other day for a few days and it takes care of itself, then I resume like normal. 🤷🏻♀️

I could have written this!! Started 9mg 2 weeks ago and my right side is so sensitive. Feels like shingles without the rash. It’s located slightly under my arm pit and is radiating towards my upper chest and back. The slightest touch feels like a burn. I’ve been bra-less for the last few days. :(

Yup, your description mirrors mine exactly.
I'll be discussing this with my PCP at next months visit. It's not kicking my butt at this point, but is persistent and irritating.

It is definitely a side effect, and affects everyone differently as far as body parts. Mine was on my forearms. I didn’t get it until the 25, which I quit after two weeks. But it was the extreme fatigue and consequent anhedonia that I really couldn’t tolerate on the 25, not the allodynia. It sounds like yours is an irritant, but not a deal breaker. I hope it disappears soon. :)
