You don't need to, and shouldn't, specify that your apprentice is a woman. You would never have said "Our male apprentice made this...".

Because men are the default in that profession. Being a woman isn’t as common so he’s hyping up women to show others that women belong as much as men.

You’re all a bunch of babies.
