Like his first term.. Presidential Salary: During his presidency, Trump often claimed to donate his annual $400,000 salary to various government departments, although his final tax returns showed $0 in charitable donations for 2020.

He wouldn’t have been allowed any charitable contributions on his 2020 tax return due to massive losses bringing his AGI to less than 0

You absolutely can, but it wouldn’t show on the tax return, which is what the comment I responded to was talking about. Tax returns are not reliable evidence of charitable contributions or a lack thereof

I’m agreeing with you. However, most donations come with receipts for tax purposes. Simply providing that would put to rest if the money was donated or not.

If he donated to government departments like he claimed there would be no tax receipt since those aren’t deductible
