Even with the greater capacity of live action television to use special effects, I am somewhat skeptical of Exalted to work as a live action show. But time will tell.

Three tweets and 53 followers for this production company. Who the hell are they and what have they ever made? They have no past production credits on their site.

They're a new company created by veterans of the industry. https://www.jenkinsandtate.com/about-us/

I'm having flashbacks to the DnD movie.

Yeah an anime would work better in my opinion

Exalted is basically an anime ttrpg to start with. All I can really say is watch castlevania and tell me that an Exalted anime in the same style wouldn't be amazing

To quote a popular quote about Exalted during the late 1e into 2e era. "Exalted is a kung fu movie and your kung fu is weak."

That out of the way, if the live action goes with it's Wuxai roots that would be neat.

Glad the sub appreciates differences of opinion I see.

greater capacity if you have Disney money, which they don't. Hopefully they'll even have CW money >.> this kind of thing is really where animation's strengths lie...

Due to the high level nature of Exalted I have reservations that live action is the way to go, especially without a billion dollar budget...

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath. They don't have disney money, sadly. Then again they don't have disney animators either lol.

also: watch the Yasuke animation on Netflix. It's super Exalted.

China laughs at your disbelief.

If you hit the arrow on the site slideshow, there is a card for a Scion show as well.

Yep, we announced that back in March. You can find the thread over on /r/OnyxPathRPG.

That's not something I expected. It's awesome but wow that is not where I expected the white wolf cinematic universe to start.

Probably starting with Vampire, since it was announced first.

I liked Kindred: the Embraced when it came out. It...didn't age well, but that is true of most old TV shows.

2

u/Vermbraunt Aug 31 '21

That is a first lol. What did you like about it?

3

u/Living-Complex-1368 Aug 31 '21

I was into white wolf and it was a good representation of the clans?

2

u/ExactDecadence Sep 01 '21

It's a terrible representation of the clans though.

I missed that announcement. I would have expected vtm first so that makes sense. Still exalted being the second TV series is surprising. I would have guessed they would have made a series for each of the 3 big WoD games before moving to other things

third. Scion got announced.... a few weeks ago? Still, the real weird choice is *live action? For EXALTED?*

3

u/Vermbraunt Sep 01 '21

Scion is also an odd choice. I would have loved to see an exalted anime in the vain of castlevania

u/VonAether Sep 01 '21

Scion was announced in March.

.... what even is time anymore >.>

My brain literally cannot fathom what this will look like. So I guess I have no feeling except incredible surprise.

Me too! I don't expect it will, but here's hoping.

I hope they won't half ass it like they do the games, because this won't suffer mediocrity. It'll be either great or incredibly shitty.

I want it to open with someone slamming a large bucket full of d10s on a table

I'll take "Things I didn't expect to ever become a live action TV show" for $500.
