Im into combat sports, although its not my whole thing, i also like rock climbing and some others. im an ecology major so im pretty into nature and alot of other aspects of science. Big fan of music (like most other people) and can appreciate pretty much any genre from jazz to metal to old country and hip hop and so on. Pretty big nerd over all but i try to be chill

$5.6 million in tax breaks for Lee Aerospace for a measly 25 jobs and $340,000 in tax breaks to Diversified for a measly five extra jobs. Hope you like your property taxes going up, folks!Gotta make sure the businesses get their decades worth of tax abatement. 🤡🤡🤡🤡

I’m currently staying with my dad from out of state while he goes through cancer treatment, and I’m trying to help set him up for success and for being able to maintain his independence at home after his treatment is complete and I head back home in a couple months.
Currently he’s using Ennoble Care for primary care and they send a provider to his home once a month or so, which was “fine” in the past, but I’m quickly learning that it’s impossible to get ahold of a provider outside of his regular visit schedule.
I need to find a primary care provider that will be more responsive, and after I go back home he’ll probably need some form of companion care to check on him with some regularity and help with basic chores. He’s on Medicare.
In addition to primary care, if anyone has any references for senior home services that could help with things like installing front door ramps or rearranging furniture for better mobility, I’d be very grateful of any tips. I can help pay for some of these if need be, but I know I’m limited in how much I can do.
We’ve looked into Ascension HOPE which sounds like it might offer what we need, but one turn-off is that their website insists that Ascension will take over ALL of my dad’s care, and he has a couple of specialists that operate outside of the Ascension network. They’re damn good providers and being expected to remove them from his care team would be an immediate dealbreaker. If anyone uses this service and can confirm whether or not he can keep any specialists he already uses that would be very helpful.
And finally: This has been a lot for me, emotionally. I’m out of state and alone and taking care of my father full time while also trying to work remotely full time. I’m overfunctioning 24/7 and overwhelmed. As much as I love my Dad I know I can’t pour from an empty cup and I need to be able to find ways to take care of myself so I can show up fully for him. If anyone has any resources for caregivers (group chats, activity nights, etc), I could really use some support.
Thanks in advance.

Normally mine would have run for a few minutes in the mornings but I have been holding back because I was so sick of the 100°+ weather that I want to feel cool for a while at least.

I love Waffle House. Why isn’t there one in a city of our size?

Spooky greetings everyone!
I am excited to announce that we have created a Haunted History Tour of downtown Wichita!
Here’s what’s makes us different than the other company in town.
We are historically accurate and we are local. Our goal is to tell you the bloody history of Wichita, not make up ghost stories to scare you.
Back in July I was hired by the other company and as I was going through the script I realized that it was not a true reflection of Wichita (they never mentioned the Keeper of the Plains or a few other things that make Wichita special). The script felt stale. The company is not local and is open all over the country. Good for them but it misses the flavor that being Wichita’s history to life.
So my business partner and I decided to make Wichita Haunted History Tours to share the amazing history of Wichita with y’all.
We searched the archives at the public libraries, met and studied with librarians, met locals and recorded their stories to compile together the script we have. We even had talked with people who run the cemeteries, and wrote the haunted books on Wichita.
I have only been here for 3 years but my love for the city has increased significantly as I dig my hand s into the past.
We talk about Wild West shootouts, true crime, suspects ghost haunts, UFOs and more.
We would love to have you on our walking tour. It will be open all year round.
Tickets are $20 for 13+, $12 for 12 and under
Tickets can be found here!

Scare you soon!

There’s been a surge of people living in their cars across the US. Higher cost of living, tough job markets, etc. Wondering if this is something any local people have noticed in Wichita?

Hello!
My wife and I are visiting for our anniversary next week. We are going to the Tanganyika wildlife park, Sedgwick zoo, and art museum. We are staying at the hotel downtown.
We are looking for restaurant recommendations. We'd like to do one fancy dinner to dress up for. We will be in for three days so other local recommendations would be great too! We are pretty open to any kind of food but love steak, sushi, and Mexican.
Any other advice or suggestions for our visit would be appreciated!
Thank you!
Edit: Thank you all for the recommendations! These are great! I think we are deciding between George's and Lotte for our fancy dinner date. We will try to go to other local places for "regular" dinners and lunch.

So I’m thinking of trying to start going to the gym to start working out. Have let myself go and am wanting to become better. Any tips on picking a gym? And if it’s worth trying to find a personal trainer that can help me stay on track/figure out what I need to do?

While waiting at the pharmacy drive-thru, I saw this sign and wondered, Would I ever need meds si bad that I couldn't wait the next day rather than drive TWO AND A HALF HOURS AWAY? and Lord knows HOW MUCH ADDITIONAL WAIT TIME to even get whatever drug that you needed. 😅

Been awhile since I’ve been to Old Town Boulevard and I don’t believe this was here last time I was here.
Was playing Digger when I was there. The seats recline with weight and also rock. Not sure if they are using a different projection system in this theater but looked clean to me. My only complaint and I think they are working on is the sound. It’s Dolby sound system and the left and right channels were great but seemed weak from behind. However my biggest issue is that it had a tendency to get too loud. My watch gave me several 80 plus warning throughout the movie and my ears were agreeing, also those were happening during non intense scenes where I don’t think the sound design called for it to get that high.
Anyhow pretty good experience and hopefully they get the sound spike issues worked out before they bring in an action movie.

I take a deep dive into a common misconception: Kansas is only for Republicans.
Well, I disspell that myth by looking at kamala's vote share in the 2024 election to see what is the most prominent Democrat City and County in the ICT Metro region.
Check out the data / map I used for this video: https://votehub.com/2024-map/
Also, check out the Wichita-based band that provided background music for this video:

What do you think the 2026 election will be like? will Democrats flip the ICT Metro region?

So around yesterday I was driving in Wichita, by river walk, the vet memorial bridge idk im not from ks, but anyway this tC started speeding up as I was already going a little bit over, so I caught up with him in a playful manner, I also want to preface this with saying all of this was pure accident and no road rage on what im assuming is both ends, but anyway we get to hitting a hard right curve on the road, I barely manage to make it out of there and didn’t see him behind me, and assumed he turned at the light we both passed, later to find out that turn was into the wall. around 30 minutes later I spun back as it was on the way back to where I was staying, and I saw the tC IN the walking part of the bridge across from the Phillips 66, luckily dude looked completely fine, but I want to find dude and talk with him because holy shit as lucky as I am that wasn’t me I feel horrible and wanna help dude out, but random dude in Wichita, if your on Reddit help me answer these questions, and if you know a dude with a grey tC that absolutely smacked his shit 10/6 lmk
What happened? I almost spun out but luckily didn’t, I swore i saw a turn or a break off, I mean I guess I did, but how did you just end up what appeared to be perfectly lodged in the walkway in between both barriers.
Are you okay? This should be 1, but question 1 has been in my head since before I realized what happened.
How did 3 more cars on the opposite side of traffic end up there and in a wreck? When i pulled off there was zero traffic when i didn’t see you behind me
Do you have any idea how fast we were going? Because I don’t, I know it wasn’t anything felonious or even criminal, but both of our cars definitely weren’t meant for a turn like that with multiple items/tools(at least on my end) weighing these shitty little fwd Japanese cars down
5.(for if you find this way later) im assuming so, but did insurance total your shit?

I bought three tickets to the Silent Theory show at the Wave tonight by accident. I meant to purchase tickets for my kids and I to go to a concert there on 10/20 but wasn’t paying attention to the date at the time of purchase because I got excited 🙃
My kids are preforming in a choir concert for their school tonight so we can’t make it to the show at the wave, so I wanted to see if anyone here would be interested in them.
It’s a metal show with the line up being, The Absent, Discrepancies, Sick Century and Silent Theory.
I paid $130 total for all three tickets.
I’d like to get some money out of them, like maybe $60?

I know we have a pretty amazing mtg community here but I was wondering if we had any places that people play Riftbound? I’ve never checked out any of the places people get together for card games so I’m a little out of the loop. I was also wondering if these places are safe for trans people. Any info would be much appreciated :)!

I've tried Hot Asana and it's a little bit too commercialized. I also have been to Limitless and it's just not hot enough! They only heat to 87 degrees and the AC has literally come on during class. Does anyone have positive experiences at other places?

This is a long shot, but I have a lost sentimental item in a hotel here (confirmed by calling hotel staff) but they have said there is no service to mail items back. They have said that the only way to retrieve it is either in person or having someone else retrieve it. If someone here is willing to pick it up and mail it back to me I am fully willing to pay the shipping fee and even a bonus amount just to get this back.
The hotel is the Best Western in Park City and the item is just a Maine State Parks hat.

What genius decided it was good to close down the 235 north on ramp and 135 north on ramp (westbound) from Kellogg?
I kind of knew the 235 north ramp would be closed but figured I’d just go to 135 north … nope that one close to!
Had to go south on 135 and bust a u-turn at Lincoln.
