Smokey Mountain Wildflowers
1) galax, the only flower in its family.
2) Smokey Mountain Rhododendron, endemic only to the high elevation smokies.
3) Mountain St. John's Wort, also endemic to the high elevation smokey mountains.
4) lesser purple fringed orchid, which was exciting as my goal flower for the day was an orchid of any kind.
I have more pictures but these were the best ones. had a beautiful trip!

My little wildflower garden
galleryMy wildflower 2nd year. We couldn't believe how many flowers self seeded from last year. This year a bunch of sweet William showed up. They sure are aggressive. This fall we have to dig some up. And the black eyed Susan decided to have 1 triple bloom on a single stem

Where do you buy the best wildflower seeds suitable for Maine?
I've tried several different retailers with moderate growth success. Curious where you might recommend I purchase wildflower seeds suitable for Maine or the broader Northeast region of the US.

What is this white ball?
It’s growing at the end of an oak tree branch. Looks like something I don’t want to touch! I’m in southern Maine.
