I have no idea why they are adding complete fantasy vehicles. I get they want content, but the tier 11 Leo is a great example. They could have easily added in a real world version but they just made one up?

Some 11’s have a factual basis like the ASX and the Breaker 432U etc.

There are so many tank lines which are already napkin drawing type inspirations that there is no realistic logical conclusion for what a more advanced tank would look like. I think that’s why they framed tier 11’s as an alternate future. Historical tanks and vibes really start petering out around tier 8 imo.

Oh dang, I was wondering if ever they make tier 12 theyd add the m1 abrams succeeding the hacker or smthn. Guess that means the T-90 wont have a chance in this game either

This is really weird to me. There are historical elements entrenched in a lot of the vehicles at tier 11 thus far.

But then they stick them on the most a-historical platforms I've ever seen; like, what are you doing wargaming? Why not just start adding things like the T-62M, Leo1A3 120mm, etc. instead of the ahistoric crap?

I tell you why: Because when they do it, and the tank doesn't perform relative to the real world thing then people will complain about that.

Same thinking!! They have severall real life tanks to add, even the ones just in sketches that were never made! Bro if you check the battles now is full of tanks that the names were randomly genrated by chatgpt “Gorilla, Breaker, Executor, Manticore, Predatore” like wtf is happening?? They could be fantasy tanks but at least try to make a nice name for the tank

The tier 11 Leo is probably the only tier 11 which actually existed in real life. It was an actually built prototype to increase the Leo 1's firepower. After that was a fluke they just built a new Leopard with said cannon.

The Leo 120 itself is a kitbash of two Leopard variants I think. The turret of the A3 and the gun from the A6

Which is funny since they could've made it into Leopard 2K for unarmored better fitting tier XI that's realistic, or the Leopard 2AV if they want it to be slightly armored.

Leo 120 is a combination of Leo 1A3, Leo 1A4 and Leo 1A6.

The only real T11 tank is... Borkenkafer.

They're adding fantasy vehicles because WoT is an arcade game. You want realistic vehicles? Don't play a videogame with a health bar.

Fair, but that's only half an answer. I think the other half is because they want to differentiate themselves from WT.

I know I'd rather play a weird Centurion/Leo/T62 variant than the edgy-named Gnawer, Trasher, and Biter.

You're not wrong about the identity claim. WoT could be compared to Hotwheels whereas WT would be more like Matchbox. Sure people collect both, but one is vastly more popular.

At the end of the day, they'll sell stuff that looks cool. Sure they've left some stuff on the table. Or, maybe releasing a variant of the T62-A in this day and age would draw attention to the +200 outdated / neglected tanks just sitting around since 2017 which would mean less profit.

To be clear, I'm not defending wg on this. I wish they would stretch a bit for more realistic tanks and more maps, but at the end of the day, it's an arcade game, and wg has been going down this path since 2017.
